I  havn't flung any vitriol at the devs.

It's kind of depressing, honestly. It's obvious the ME 3 story section is far worse than the DA III section.

Ok, so even when fans were trying to express a lot of positive things, the only thing they can see is the negative and then not open up a more constructive discussion.  I don't mean him per se, but I've lived long enough to know that toxic environments generally exist when no one gets involved enough to want to help further communication and understanding. Ever been given the "silent treatment" by anyone?  Well, the BSN is the ultimate example of that.  And yes, I know destructive people were here and yet that is something that mature people handle and then move on from.

The BSN may not be the only place where BW fans are, but it contains locations for registered owners to voice all manner of things.  Get that, registered owners.  Not twitter, not reddit, but the BSN.

The big problem is that BW decided at some point that we were all toxic and they decided to have nothing to do with us.  I was a moderator for another website that was owned by devs of a game with problems and the fans never felt they were as ignored as what BW has done here.  And, before you say it, no I will not apologize for fans that threatened them because I never did that.  I've expressed even my love and admiration for much of what they have done, and asked them to consider fans that feel left out by the endings-fans that still call themselves fans and that loved the games as much as even maybe BW did or you do.

A lot of toxicity has been created on both sides, but at the end of the day, BW owns this site.  Yet again, all that BW can see is it is a fan problem.  How characteristic.  It takes two to tango and to create an argument.  And yet, the company that wants our money is only too happy to always say it's our problem.  I have never seen this kind of thing continually implied about consumers of any product.  See something toxic then wow it's really helpful to foment such a thing by blogging about it.  That ought to help the situation.



All any of this keeps doing is causing us to fight amongst each other.  A BW dev goes on twitter and actually says nasty things about us, then another blogs about us, and then one swears at someone and so on.  Is this really how people that want your money should act?  I'm sorry, I do love ME games, but I've never seen companies act like this.

I am not condoning violence or anything but here is what the developers promised :-

-Choices that matter
-Proper end to Shepard's trilogy

They also hyped up the game a lot. Expectations were high.

What players got :-

-Weak storyline
-Game with glaring & gaping plot holes
-Terrible ending
-Forced cut scenes
-Forced boss fights
-Forced defeat
-Forced deaths with no way around them
-Lack of attention on some characters in the game
- Side quests that is more akin to a Fed-Ex Delivery Simulation
-Choices from 2 previous games not mattering very much
-Content purposely cut and repackaged as Day One DLC

When you create a gaming world that so many have invested their money, time, emotions & you just tear all that up, that's a big disappointment & a big betrayal for the fans.

Now when someone makes a mistake, the first step for them to remedy the problem is :- For them to say sorry. A public apology for messing things up . We never got that. We didn't get that for Dragon Age 2.

Instead we got things like "Boss fights are too video gamey" & "This is our artistic vision & artistic integrity". Well, they are making a video game & secondly, Mass Effect games has taken many many input from fans. To call it their artistic integrity just doesn't make sense. It would have if they never bothered to ask any feedback & suggestions & just make the game.

I can understand why he feels that way - but there IS a reason for that. There are always people who will not like something,we are all different. But when "noise to data" ratio is growing and environment becomes more toxic - it means more and more people don't like what is being developed.
And while BSN clearly is not the only place for Bioware fans - it is one of those places.
As for crowds at conventions - this is not even funny. People stopping appearing at those will mean that Bioware died. First signs that it does something wrong are internet background noise and sales.
And while ME3 sales where really really good, i'd like to see if it sold like DA:O - kept selling long after release, or like DA2 - sold a ton of preorders and then fell sharply down. I think it is the later.

Just this. While this forum surely have a few members who are not so nice, there is an reason why people got so "negative" as David said, they messed up a lot of things in Mass effect 3 apart from the ending. If Bioware expect us to keep loving them like the world is sunshine and unicorns after everything that happened, they need to think again. If you guys want us to treat you with the respect you deserve, then give an reason to deserve it. We wish for an game with the same level of quality from the previous two, not below!

I'd argue againist it being worse than the post-release DAII section though.

As far as I'm concerned. This is the only way he can be talking about the ME forums. He never visits here and only works on the DA3 forums (IIRC). So I don't know what's going on over there to make him feel this way, but yes I tend to agree with him to some extent. However, it did sound like towards the end of the blog that he just likes to receive positive feedback as opposed to negative. Sometimes it's hard for writers to acknowledge the difference between honest critism and negative feedback. They share that same passion for their work as we do for embracing their work.

That said, how the hell did ME3 happen? lol

I agree, you shouldn't insult other devs of the company because of a few select people's lies. Insulting the whole company will never get you anywhere because a lot of the BioWare staff are still really good and honest people.

I personally don't mind when people aren't pointing out the obvious.

The obvious part being that...boat (I'm really bad with names) guy's post.

Just because one ignores it (which can simply be because that person might not want anything to do with it) doesn't mean that one agrees.
