It's kind of depressing, honestly. It's obvious the ME 3 story section is far worse than the DA III section.

Ok, so even when fans were trying to express a lot of positive things, the only thing they can see is the negative and then not open up a more constructive discussion.  I don't mean him per se, but I've lived long enough to know that toxic environments generally exist when no one gets involved enough to want to help further communication and understanding. Ever been given the "silent treatment" by anyone?  Well, the BSN is the ultimate example of that.  And yes, I know destructive people were here and yet that is something that mature people handle and then move on from.

The BSN may not be the only place where BW fans are, but it contains locations for registered owners to voice all manner of things.  Get that, registered owners.  Not twitter, not reddit, but the BSN.

The big problem is that BW decided at some point that we were all toxic and they decided to have nothing to do with us.  I was a moderator for another website that was owned by devs of a game with problems and the fans never felt they were as ignored as what BW has done here.  And, before you say it, no I will not apologize for fans that threatened them because I never did that.  I've expressed even my love and admiration for much of what they have done, and asked them to consider fans that feel left out by the endings-fans that still call themselves fans and that loved the games as much as even maybe BW did or you do.

A lot of toxicity has been created on both sides, but at the end of the day, BW owns this site.  Yet again, all that BW can see is it is a fan problem.  How characteristic.  It takes two to tango and to create an argument.  And yet, the company that wants our money is only too happy to always say it's our problem.  I have never seen this kind of thing continually implied about consumers of any product.  See something toxic then wow it's really helpful to foment such a thing by blogging about it.  That ought to help the situation.

I have seen enough direct attacking of the devs, sometimes on a personal level, to completely understand why they say screw it and take off. Toxicity weighs more than postivity and hurts more than the good comments can lift up. Being continually bashed and insulted- yes, insulted, it does happen- will continue to wear you down.

I find that the people who most scream "suck it up" are the ones throwing out the most negatvitiy and contributing more to the toxicity than the people bringing polite and considered discussion to the boards.

I sent the thread link to Stan. I knew soon as I read Gaider's post that this thread would blow up into a frothing sea of bile as people scrambled to deliberately start and argument.

In the mean time, I will be mildly entertained while enjoying Mass Effect :D

Why ruin the fun?

Or when I used to just chill in the ME3 Jack thread.  Oh wait.

Oh snap.

Yeah, watching that motivational thread often made my day slightly more positive.

Of course you don't put him on the hook.  He is on your side.  Don't even talk to me you dounle standard hypocrite.

My side for what? That you shouldn't be hypocritical? Then yeah I guess he is.

Your a hypocrite for defending him while targeting me. While he has openly said he enjoys insulting the devs.

Lol. what? When did he say that? He said he enjoyed making it toxic. Putting words in people's mouths, naughty naughty.

Oh so now you are going to make it about semantics?  How is making it toxic any different than flinging out insults.  Some of you feed of toxicity.  You enjoy it too much.  Something is wrong with you.

Lol, you don't know what semantics means do you? So which is it a toxic environment or insults? They're not one and the same you know. Clearly there's something wrong with you too. You are actually the cause of the toxicity too.

And we get to the heart of the matter. If you don't agree you're a troll. I smell the stench of hypocrisy.

I feel the need to point a few things out: is only free for the first season, only free to gold members, the story exists almost entirely within cutscenes, maps are all copy-pasted to pad out missions, very little replayability besides grinding for points.

But it's still new story content. That is free. And I haven't heard anything about the second season but it might be free as well.

The gold members thing is silly, since most of the XBL stuff is restricted to gold members anyway.

I'm perfectly fine with copy and paste maps for good story content that is FREE.

Did I mention that it was free?

It has been stated that only the first season is free.  Also the copy-pasting of missions do not serve the story in any way, as the story is completely disconnected from gameplay, outside of one mission.  If they were to copy-paste th levels like mass effect did, we could at least get unique story experiences, but nope all we get to do is get plunked down in the same area for the third time in a slightly different position.

And its not like Bioware hasn't released dlc for free:  Retaliation, Rebellion, Earth, and Resurgence.

You guys do realize that hes right? Spending too much time in forums that spew negativity affect their lives too. I don't blame him in the slightest. And I'm disappointed in the ones who do.

I am sure he is quite right and justified in him saying that. And I am sure many of us here have done so at some point or other about a topic we feel passionate about. Myself and present company included of course. I was quite a vocal about my dislike of the endings. And while I have calmed down since then I do know it is still an issue for some. It is a shame really. But there is not much we can do.

But what gets me is that someone starts a fun thread, and there's no flaming going on in it, and it gets locked down for being off topic. Sure it might be off topic and a bit ridiculous, but come on it might be the only positive thread at the top of the section of the forum! Let it run. So what happens? The negativity goes up. Followed by a wave of new bannings and more negativity.

It's a self-perpetuating cycle. I don't know what to do about it.

Sure I hated the ending of ME3. Do I hate BW? No. I bought a new video card and bought the ME series for PC and will enjoy it once again with MEHEM and with better graphics than on the console anyway. BW made money out of the deal. If I was a hater I wouldn't have done that. There's no canon for the ending anyway... yet. They come out with DLC for the ending that surprises me? I'll buy that too.

For those of you proposing a purge of the BSN, how do you think it should be done? And what rules would be implemented that would prevent the same thing from happening all over again without turning this place into the Internet equivalent of North Korea?

Ban anyone who joined after 2010 :innocent:

I am all for blowing the whole thing up and permabanning some of the more vitriolic  ones.

Can we perma ban you too then?

I  havn't flung any vitriol at the devs.

Of course not, you're the other end of the extreme. You're just as bad as the polar opposite. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. Sycophants can be toxic too you know.

Save the lecture, and get off your self righteous high horse.  Be gone troll

I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy. If I hit the proverbial nail on the head, don't get angry at me. Take a look at yourself.

Of course a smug bastard like yourself would say something like that.  While being a hypocrite yourself, but your ego won't let you admit it,  But I am done talking with you.  Once again my enemies have derailed a thread.

I am not condoning violence or anything but here is what the developers promised :-

-Choices that matter
-Proper end to Shepard's trilogy

They also hyped up the game a lot. Expectations were high.

What players got :-

-Weak storyline
-Game with glaring & gaping plot holes
-Terrible ending
-Forced cut scenes
-Forced boss fights
-Forced defeat
-Forced deaths with no way around them
-Lack of attention on some characters in the game
- Side quests that is more akin to a Fed-Ex Delivery Simulation
-Choices from 2 previous games not mattering very much
-Content purposely cut and repackaged as Day One DLC

When you create a gaming world that so many have invested their money, time, emotions & you just tear all that up, that's a big disappointment & a big betrayal for the fans.

Now when someone makes a mistake, the first step for them to remedy the problem is :- For them to say sorry. A public apology for messing things up . We never got that. We didn't get that for Dragon Age 2.

Instead we got things like "Boss fights are too video gamey" & "This is our artistic vision & artistic integrity". Well, they are making a video game & secondly, Mass Effect games has taken many many input from fans. To call it their artistic integrity just doesn't make sense. It would have if they never bothered to ask any feedback & suggestions & just make the game.

For DA2 we got that we couldn´t grasp their so called innovations. For ME3 we got EC (at least it retconned a bit of the nonsense, but very far from perfect) and the middle finger of Refuse (it is, or shooting an hologram wouldn´t activate it).

And largely abandoned by the old motivators. JoeLaTurkey and Ashira left after the ending of ME3. And that thread (the old one)is still the best on BSN.
