 The best way to compare ME3's conundrum is to look at The Witcher 2. Both suffered similiar problems. Both had crappy endings & in both games fans were upset with it.
Bioware's solution :-
- No apology-Talk about artistic integrity  & ingenuity- A small expansion with some weird scenes & slide shows

CD Projekt Red's Solution:- 
-Apology-12 new different endings, not just colors-Free DLC-DRM removal-Free upgrade to version 2.0 with tutorial
& people don't understand why Bioware devs get so much hate for ME3.

Bottom line. RPGs like ME3 are more than just mere games. They are games you invest your time into. They become part of your life after some time. Just look at the amount of fan art, fan fiction, fan videos we have on ME. All players will end up highly associating themselves with characters like Shepard. With his/her squadmates. With other characters in the ME Universe.

& after all that immersion and investment and all you get it different shades of ending or in the case of EC, different shades with different voices that still include major plot holes like Starbrat, players end up disappointed, betrayed. 

& so the hate ...


I honestly think all this could be fixed if Bioware :-

-Issues a formal apology
-Gives us an option to win the conventional way 
-Allowed players to actually save Thane 
-Give us an option to give the finger to Starbrat & win, not lose
-Show us the blue babies / home on Rannoch / 


The majority would be very contented with that

Hell, look at Fallout 3. Gamers yell BS at the ending because there were issues with it. What does Bethesda do? Release a rockin' DLC pack that actually fixes those issues and adds MORE awesome content. And they even made money out of it.

While I just can´t understand why anyone would pay for something they can get in game anyway, either MP arenas are really cheap or I doubt EA would allow BW to release it free. EC was because otherwise ME was utterly dead. It really seemed like the most successful torch & run I´ve ever seen.

I think hes saying that if they did not have the micro transaction system in place your looking at 10 bucks a pop for those expansions. They didnt give those free out of the kindness of there heart, they make more money with MT, look at Team Fortress 2.

If that is true then I am all for microtransactions.  It doesn't hamper my experience by benefiting those with cash too much while at the same time allowing new content to be released for free.  But what is wrong with Bioware making money off of this?  They are a business, they make games to make money.  If they aren't making any money on the endeavor, I full expect them to stop supporting it.

what I mean by that is, Bioware has never been used to this overwhelming wave of criticism...remember the times if kotor? ME1/2? DAO? they knew the fans would point out the faults of the games but they would still be overall more than satisfied.....but not this time

Alot of cherry picking going on, focusing on the negative whilst ignoring all the constructive feedback...." Yes we are listening "...i remember that thread soon got removed.....people are not resentfull for ME3, it stems from the PR and there superiority complex whilst they screen questions at comic-cons, do an in-hand interview not answering the main questions we have.........it's little things like that we can look back on and endin a trilogy with an advertisement for dlc just smacks of greed and just fuels the resentment........i feel some bioware staff need thicker skins when posts on a forum bother them.

Yeah, there's a reason why I hardly ever post in the ME and DA boards anymore, I just stick to Off Topic now. And while not necessarily a shining beacon itself, it's much, MUCH better behaved than these sections of BSN usually have been. This place ain't like it used to be.
