They should allow cryo blast and snap freeze to work on unshielded phantoms. When they buffed the Geth Pyro so you couldn't grab one over cover, their reasoning was that you shouldn't be able to grab an armored target. So why can't you freeze a target with health? She can already block powers with her nope bubble. On top of that, their on-host DR is really frustrating when you're playing as certain kits.
As for grabbing Phantoms over cover, you rarely get the opportunity from the way they flank you but you'd expect a space ninja to be able to counter such a move.
Inorite? Makes perfect sense. Phantoms get too much crap for free already.

Ninja.
So? She gets to much "ninja treatment"
Sometimes no agility will save you from brute strenght.
Hence why the revenant is great against Phantoms. Wall of bullets with spread = constant suppressive fire that she can't ninjaflip or cloak away from.

the reason for that is armor, the phantom has health and a buttload of agility way more than any other boss. allowing her to be frozen when her barriers are down, and allowing grabs would help to balance her. armored units can't be grabbed or frozen, health units can (unless you are talking about a phantom) if we can't grab pyros anymore because of armor, then we should be able to grab phantoms because they don't have armor.Silvair wrote...
Arent phantoms bosses, on par with Atlas, Scion, Praetorian, banshee, and brute?

Cryo Shield freezes them.
Interesting thing happened today: witnessed a Paladin back-handing a Phantom mid cartwheel. It was the funniest ragdoll I've seen yet.

Phantoms are someone's pet project. They don't want it fixed or modified in any way.
Bottom line Phantoms have their own artistic integrity...

It's a gameplay decision. Has nothing to do with real world physics.

But the paladin isn't broken or anything.
Oh not at all. Bugged 2x damage cryo explosions on 3 targets on a ridiculously short cooldown that goes through walls and effects all protection types is perfectly acceptable.
The three priming effect is intended (yes even against armored targets) and when they fix the 2x bug we can just spec the 6th evo to bring it back up. The armor debuffs only affect weapon damage anyway so the cryo explosion are not harmed by this change. So broken? Maybe a little. But after you "fix" him he'll still be the same.

I think the ability to grab kill and freeze is also dependent on whether or not they are a boss character, not just whether they're armored.

But this is sci-fi no ? There is some science in the game. So physics should matter.
I honestly think big characters like Krogans, Batarians, N7 Destroyer, Turians should be able to grab kill any humanoid except the Banshee because she is too tall. Just imagine a Kroguard charges a Phantom & they just lifts her up with a single hand & chokes her out... *Evil grin*
Smaller characters should have the ability to dodge out of sync kills like what Shepard does if Kai Lame gets too close to her in Chronos Station....

What? I do it both as a joiner, and as host, consistently, and constantly.

Though, on the other hand, it still makes sense since you are talking about being able to "just grab" the close quarters specialist.

Sure they usually matter, otherwise a lot of powers wouldn't work. But on certain things, like trivializing the threat of a boss character, it takes a backseat to gameplay balance.
Similarly, this is why melee's lock onto targets. It would be much more realistic to allow melee to miss a lot more, but since that would make melee builds un-fun, physics get thrown out the window in exchange for hate surfing

This. Freezing, maybe. Grabbing a ninja whose primaray weapon is a sword is a no-no.

I agree that balance in MP takes a backseat. Right from the moment the decision was made to kick lore out of the window. Not only lore was kicked - but logic at times too - for "balance" the struggles to fulfill its purpose.
Its not about making things easy - its about making things more FUN.
Phantoms need to be grabbed just like Marauders - when its possible. They still should be able to evade the grab when they see you coming or when you are too slow.
