Obviously not for Talimancers ;-)
Combined with Texmod or ME3Explorer, this mod should enable you to have the picture of your choice next to Shepard's bed, and for your Shep to stare and sigh at the sight of it...

Been testing with Kaidan and Steve as per a friend's request, but maybe I'll include a pack with pictures for each character. I will add instructions for making custom textures anyway.

Also, since the character and romance threads are all locked... I can't go and ask what pictures people would like.
Also, I'd be curious to know what picture you'd think your Shep would put in that frame ;-)

Saltisgood and crew have been working on automated mod installer and also on a texture tool that will make Texmod unecessary, so I will just put any pic upload on hold for the moment and resume when I will have put the new version of the mod here.

You need a TLK editor for converting the .tlk to XML and an XML editor:

How to change any hovertext (or any other ingame texts):
You find the needed file here: Mass Effect 3/BIOGame/CookedPCConsole/
Pick the BIOGame_INT.tlk and make a backup of it first!

Then place a copy of the .tlk on your desktop for easier access. Open the tlk editor, select the file and the output folder (any you like, I always choose My Desktop) and convert it to XML. This might take a moment and the TLK editor might freeze. That's normal and nothing to worry about. The XML file is huge (about 15 MB!).

Then, open the XML file with your XML editor. Search for the string you want to change; "Tali's Picture". The document will jump to the corresponding line. Change the text to whatever you like. Hit save. This takes quite
some time and the Editor WILL freeze. Just wait a minute or two until you can move the Editor window around again.

Load the XML with the TLK editor and convert it back to a tlk-file. Make sure the file has the right name. I simply overwrite the existing .tlk on my desktop. That's the easiest way.

Replace the original BIOGame_INT.tlk with the new one. Hit yes for overwrite.

Done. ^^

Well there's a blank frame on one of the desks, but no picture in it
You could have LI picture in ME2 before SM, why not here?

Also, I'm pretty sure Tali's pic has been modded already, it's very easy to include whatever fanart you'd like to see, I've seen amazing stuff

This is a great idea! It would also be nice to incorporate something for the ME2 LIs that got the shaft (pretty much all of them)

Shepard can go and see the other LI's on the ship whenever he/she wants to. It's not really necessary to have a pic of your LI in your cabin when you can go see them at a moments notice =p Tali is different though. Shep only gets to see her face rarely, so I guess it makes more sense.

Very nice mod though OP Especially for those who romanced ME2 characters such as Miranda/Jack/Thane. They'll love this.

Definitely looks good for LIs.  I'd say in particular for ME2 romances, since most of them were...not well treated...in  ME3.

For my own Shepard, I'm thinking a picture of Ash, like the one he had in ME2.  Heck maybe the same one.  He's sentimental

Ah, wanted to ask Talimancers > does the whole sequence with the music and Shepard holding the frame happen every time? I just know that you find the pic in your cabin after a specific Tali event. The game file says something happens the first time?

I heard about Kelly Chambers' pic for Shep's cabin, that's the one I wanted to mod initially. This could probably be activated via Gibbed, but I was unable to find any pic or vid about it, does it have the same cutscene as Tali's?

@Iakus > absolutely, I thought the same for Kaidan, but the quality is so bad! The original Tali picture is 256 pixel high, whereas here it's 1024! I doubt the ME2 pics are better, but yeah, I'd love to have the same one! Maybe you can find one that looks a bit the same?

Oh yes, if you want to suggest pics, make sure it's in good res, 1024 high minimum should be fine.

(And yeah, I use a modded one. I was just kidding before, about replacing her face with not-her face behind a helmet. She'd probably find that weird. : P)

More seriously, other than the obvious 'my favourite character/LI, because they're my favourite', hmm. It's too difficult a suggestion to practically implement, but I always figured my Shepard would have something from Mindoir on her desk. A family photo from her childhood or the like.

Well, you could try to replace the texture a single time with SaltisGood's texture replacement tool so it doesn't show up all over the game. Not sure what the precise state of that is right now, it works but there's a bug with black shadows in MP. Amarok did some kind of fix but I'm not sure how that's all implemented, etc.
