Mass Effect Squad Member Builds

I just recently bought the Trilogy pack and needed help building my Squad Members. Currently I settled that I'm going to build a Infiltrator/Commando/Hacking Shepard (Apparently, it's the fun build to run). I've tried checking the sticky threads to look for Squad Member builds and have no luck since they link Mass Effect 2 Squad Member builds.
Links to Mass Effect 1 Squad Members builds will be much appreciated along with any suggestion of which Squad Members I should bring to compliment my Shepard build.

Also, in Simbacca's thread [Mass Effect 1] Start of the Journey: Single Playthrough Builds, he posts his level 60 squad builds at the end of page 3.
NOTE 1: On your first playthrough, you are restricted to level 50. So plan accordingly (knock 10 points off any level 60 build).
NOTE 2: Bonus talents are unlocked by using power enough times (75 times) or killing enough enemies (150 enemies killed per weapon). Shepard must use the power/weapon for it to count ; squadmate powers/weapons do not count. You can only choose a bonus power at the start of a new game (you cannot choose one mid-game), and you can only choose from powers that were unlocked as bonus powers. So to use AI Hacking as a bonus power, you must use AI Hacking 75 times as an Engineer first before you can select it for an Infiltrator. *
Hope that helps.
* Typically you would want to play as Soldier (all weapons), Adept, and Engineer to unlock all powers for bonus powers. The game records which weapon kills/powers you use separate from the playthrough, so you can unlock the bonus talents across multiple playthroughs or on a single playthrough. For example, you can unlock Warp on your first Adept playthrough, or you can use it a few times on an Adept then the rest of the times as a Vanguard.
You can also save your game, then (a) use the power, (

Not really. I find that you are actually better off using a Pistol until you start getting level IV gear (when you get around level 20 or so); that is when Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles start getting some accuracy.
For armor, armor with the best damage protection is usually best. Armor mods that give you +health regeneration and/or cooldown bonuses are generally the best armor mods. When you get enough money, you can buy your first Medical Exoskeleton from Dr. Michel on the Citadel, which gives you both cooldown and health regeneration bonuses.

When you talk about Bonus powers? Is that just for Mass Effect 1 or something that carries over to ME2?

That is just for Mass Effect 1. Bonus powers in Mass Effect 2 work differently.Xion385 wrote...

In Mass Effect 2, each squadmate you can recruit has a unique (locked) power. When you gain their loyalty, that power is unlocked for the squadmate and fis also unlocked as a bonus power for all current and future Shepards. Bonus powers can be assigned when you create a new ME2 character, and can be changed (or assigned) at any time in ME2 by accessing the Research Terminal. The Research Terminal is unlocked afer recruiting Mordin.

Any tips on skill points distribution? I think I'm going to re-roll my soldier again because I missed out on Emily Wong quest because of the stupid glitch and distributed my points wrong.

Soldier class is a beast in ME1. You might wanna spec for master immunity skill and shield boost. You will be an unstoppable walking tank. As for squad members, I find Liara with all her biotic powers (except for stasis) maxed out. She proves very useful when you go against the rachni in Noveria (or just in general). I would also go with either Garrus or Tali and spec for Master Sabotage, Overload, and Dampaning (as well as AI Hacking if you go with Tali).
Master shield boost is quite unneeded for soldiers. You can quite effectively stop your armor skill at 7 for heavy armor or 8 for advanced shield boost. This is because shields are not nearly as important a defense for soldiers and infiltrators as immunity and a high grade armor.
Just for example lets say you have master immunity, and predator-h x armor, which will then be compared with colossus heavy 10. I'll even assume shields are at full with no hits taken.
Say in both cases you take a thousand point hit with no shield bleed.
The predator-h you're looking at 1000-540 for your shields, leaving 460 points of damage. Leaving 38.64 points of damage applied to health after armor and master immunity applied.
The colossus, the numbers will be from the same 1000 point hit-450 for shields, leaving 550 points of damage. For a total of 23.1 points applied to your health.
The higher armor value is much more critical for stopping damage, especially things like melee attacks, rockets and geth siege pulses that will bleed past shields anyway. Better armor and immunity will also continue to protect after shields are down. With colossus, master immunity, one energized plate and one medical exo, plus fully developed class talent, about the only way to kill a soldier even with just 7 or 8 points in armor and master immunity is to get stun locked.

As for weapon points, it really depends on what you perfer. I liked them all and used all of them to get each medal. So I specced them preaty equally so each will have at least one power (marksman, carnage, etc..). Carnage is flippin' good! Preaty much an instant kill when I faced Saren.
As for squad mates, take at least Tali or Garrus with you since they will be very viable on your missions.
Can't help you with bonus power unfortunetly. I did a stupid thing and gave my soldier decryption. Only put two points into that..

I see what you mean. But I really did it for the damage protection and hardening you get with each point of the sheild boost.

Only if you play through the game 3 times with the same character as a Paragon (play through once, play a new game the existing ME1 import, play another new game with the second ME1 import).Xion385 wrote...
I was wondering if you can get max Paragon without any points in Charm?
If you play as a full Paragon, you will get 4 free Charm points as you play: 1 when you become a Spectre and 3 more as you continue to choose Charm options.
Same is true for Renegade and Intimidate options.

What happens if you already have maxed out your paragon or renegade meters? do you get the points within the first playthrough or do you have to playthrough the game two more times to get the extra points with the same shepard?

When you start New Game+ (start a new game with an existing ME1 Shepard), the Paragon and Renegade meters are reset. You keep all your gear and talent points. You can get another 4 free Charm/Intimidate points as you play on New Game+sirus1988 wrote...

You can buy armor at stores. However, a lot of the items in stores are random, so that sweet armor you cannot afford the first time you see it may not be there the next time you visit the store.Xion385 wrote...
What level of armor is it worth upgrading to and where to get it? The first suggestion I got was IV.
Generally, I typically do not buy armor unless there is a really good set I can buy; generally you can get decent armor (and mods and weapons) just from loot drops.
The best armor sets (Colossus, Predator L/M/X) start at level VII or VIII, and do not drop until late into the game. The Normandy Requisitions officer has some decent level IV sets, but you are better off spending credits elsewhere, typically on the Spectre weapons.

Seconding this. Save your credits for the best HMWA weapons for your Shepard and his primary teammates.

As for weapon mods. I've been reading a lot on websites, is Frictionless the way to go and is that something that can be bought?

Yes, frictionless material is a good weapon upgrade. It has a high heat absorbtion percentage plus a bit of damage (depending on what level you have it). I think you can buy it from some stores on the citedal but it only later in the game. But, you shouldn't need to buy it since you get hundreds of them as loot near the end.
If you're just starting off, I'd go with heat sink (which is the low level version of frictionless materials) and either a rail upgrade or a weapon stability upgrade. Give your teammates the radar detection upgrade (i forget what it's called).

Yep, you'll have to start a new game, with a new character, and you'll have to unlock the powers. That is unless you are playing on PC. In which case, see here http://masseffect.wi.../wiki/PC_Tweaks
Dang. I guess I'll just put the points I had for Warp/Lift in Shotgun instead and unlock Shotgun for the rest of my characters.
Thinking of making an Adept after I get my Soldier to 60. Still don't know which build though. I just want a fun one. Leaning towards a Nemesis build, but don't know which weapon to use. Any fun suggestion would be great.
Question: Anyone know offhand the minimum Charm points you need to have unlock every Paragon option?

You need 12 Charm points to unlock all Charm options. I believe Jeong on Feros is the highest check with 12 Charm points required.Xion385 wrote...
