How long must she stay?
I mean is it a few more encounters after she joins, or a while. I dont want to get her a bunch of gear and then be able to dump her a few encounters later.
How long do I have to keep zhjaeve in my party, if at all.

You need her for three chunks - the Ruins of Arvahn (huge), reforging the sword, and the end game (vital), plus maybe another encounter or two. You want to outfit her well.
In a general sense, you should let everyone keep some decent equipment. You don't have to go out of your way to buy them stuff, but give them the things you find. Grubbing for every gp is unnecessary.
Some items - in all three official campaigns - practically have various NPCs' names on them. For example, there's a suit of armor you could find somewhere in Blacklake that virtually screams out for Zhjaeve. You got a sword that only one person on your team can use. There are two weapons and (possibly) an armor you will get on one mini-quest that are tailor-made for someone who doesn't rely on weapons to fight. One other item you might get as a new property-owner seems literally named for someone - "Angry Soul" - now who could that be? In MOTB there is an armor and a cap that go together so well the cap doesn't even change the armor's appearance; they even provide paired crowns for the prince and princess of the prom at the end (although they did miss the boat a little - I had to mod the archwizard robe to be red). In SOZ, the developers go whole hog and give the NPCs specific items that practically no one else can use.
All of your companions are likely to play some role before it's all over, don't strip them.
