Not that it is better... but it is more addicting...
Oh, an mp has playable aliens... I HAD to try it!

I only like ME3MP because of the positive association I have for the world and races from single player.

Without the lore of SP, I wouldn't have enjoyed MP.

SP was overall very good, but it surprised me in negative way (endings and few other things) while mp surprised me in positive way.

When I purchased ME3, I was very happy that all of the MP stuff was optional. I had zero interest in playing the multiplayer and generally only enjoy Single player games or split screen multiplayer with a friend. I loved the story (though the ending was much better after the enhanced cut) of the Single Player game and nothing in the multiplayer could ever convey the emotion of some of the moments in the game. Without spoiling anything, Mordin and Tali scenes were simply awesome. The single player story was my reason for buying it and my reason for recommending the game to others.

Having said that, I have now dumped over a hundred hours into the Multiplayer. The free DLC and new challenge/reward system have made it more interesting. The multiplayer is fun and reminds me of ME2. The increased difficulties definately make the SP game seem very easy.

Ultimately, there were some truly epic moments in the SP and made me care about the characters I was using. I have no real connection to any of the MP characters. For me, the SP experience is better than the MP experience.

I think single player was more solid from a gameplay perspective (less bugs and cheesing enemies), and obviously it had an awesome storyline (minus the end). The reason everyone plays MP so much is that there are wayyyyyyyy more kits to use, and it feels like the more "skilled" portion of the game (you don't really need to get too good at the game's mechanics to succeed at SP). Not to mention there's the addiction factor of MP (with the dark god RNG supplying continual despair, with small moments of triumph interspersed).

I like them both, but SP's difficulty is a joke after playing gold/platinum on the MP. I'm afraid the next DLC will nerf commander Shepard. That's what will make us cry

SP ending sucked. Extended cut was an example of turd polishing. I applaud the attempt, but "artistic integrity" aside, fix your mistakes, don't shine the crap you gave us.

That being said, MP is also the only reason I still own this game. My original skepticism for it was put aside after the demo MP I played pre-launch. I got 3 new games for Christmas, none of which I've played, thanks to ME3 MP.

MP better than SP ?
Yes, because i am not getting reminded what i still miss in this game. The Mako ... and, well...
ME1 is still my favorite of all 3 games - jumping into the Mako and dust off is just GREAT.
Exploration ! - for me this was the reason to buy this game in the first place and that it was an rpg.

As for MP: The lack of lore in MP is still something that i find hard to swallow.

FB Glacier, do you know that i really love exploration, but they just
give us small room.I always thinking that there is something bigger on
the other side of this small map.....

2. Rannoch Mission...I really want to explore this planet instead just finish the mission.
3. Tuchanka, same as Rannoch problem
4. Sur'Kesh, same as above
5. Menae, same as above.
6. Thessia...same as Above.

FOr multiplayer it's nice to get play as other races and re-specthe characters as much as I want

This.

The single player was ruined for me by the ending... did two playthroughs and haven't touched it since, have not bought the DLC either. Multiplayer on the other hand... has gotten me for 1000+ hours, spent some real $$$ at the store when I first started playing MP, and I've recommended the game to friends which has translated into sales of ME3.

MP > SP by a pretty substantial margin IMO.... if only that ending wasn't terribad, I loved ME2 SP... played it through about 7-8 times.

I like them both equally.

I just find the MP community more friendly and more willing to talk about playing the game than the SP community is.

the multiplayer is what saved the game for me, if not the entire franchise.

I could write quite a long post about it (and I'm a guy who never played much games online), but let's just say that MP is a constant reminder of the awesomeness of the ME universe, despite all the shortcomings and crimes against common sense that the SP mode commited.

There is no point to playing SP, so MP is better by default. So that is not saying much. SP has no real ending, so I have lost all interest in it, after playing through ME1 and ME2 over a dozen times each, just to get 1 (one) playthrough just the way I wanted for ME3. I was looking forward to playing other characters, see how there stories would play out. But I already know. They will die in vain, having achieved nothing, as I'd rather get my Shepard killed by Marauder Shields than suffer through the ending again.

MP can be a lot of fun, even with randoms, but the new achievements are mostly a grind. Yes, I discovered that a few characters and weapons which I had previously not bothered to play with were quite a lot of fun, but in the end, it is still a grind. Such as the ridiculous number of Husks you need to kill for the Reaper challenge. These challenges also more or less force me to play with ridiculous combinations of characters, weapons and maps. In order to get the achievements, I can't just play the game the way I want to.

In the end, however, MP isn't great. There simply are not that many maps and the AI simply is not that good. You never get the kick that you get when defeating a human opponent, outsmarting someone due to tactics, by being a better shot or simply by being quicker. The AI is incredibly stupid and often predictable. Perfect aim, being able to see you through cloak, sync kills, it has the deck stacked in its favour and yet you can still win. Once you've figured it out, it becomes a bit boring. It is more that the game is so addictive, in part because of the RNG store. It is like gambling. You're hoping for that BW or that Huntress, you roll the dice and you get a Male Human Soldier card, despite having it maxed. Yeah, better luck next time..

MP is mostly fun for me when playing with friends or with a good group of randoms, playing a character that I love, such as the GI, Huntress or the Kroguard. But even then it becomes repetitive.

I hate the RNG store. Basically all I need are the Collector SMG and upgrades for my UR and promotional weapons. But the store is giving me cryo ammo IV.. When I need missiles, I get ammo. I keep getting character cards even though I have them all and I have them all maxed. So I keep spending credits just so I have enough missiles to get me through the next game. When I finally do save up for a PSP or two, the store laughs at me and gives me useless cards.

I hate Origin, it is even worse than Steam when that was in its infancy and EA doesn't even seem to be aware of half the outages and the recurring problem where you can't see your friends even when they are online. So even when I want to play, it is sometimes impossible or I can't find anyone to play with. Even aside from feeling let down by ME3 SP, I absolutely refuse to pay for any game that requires Origin. So for the time being, I'll have no trouble avoiding whatever EA/Bioware is offering.

ME3 MP is also still riddled with bugs. I hate using an ops pack, the host registering me as using it too late so that I go down, but still registering the ops pack as having been used. I hate missiles not hitting anything. I hate people or enemies going invisible. I hate falling off the map for no discernible reason.

If SP had a decent ending, the store wasn't giving me cards I couldn't even use and if you could play against human enemies and if Origin wasn't the unstable piece of excrement that it is now, ME3 would have been fantastic, the best game I'd ever played. Sadly, it isn't.

In the end, if it wasn't for ME3 MP being a lot of fun, despite all the drawbacks, I would have been done with the game ages ago. But sadly I highly doubt I will play any more games in the ME3 universe. Between the ME3 SP ending destroying most of what I felt for this franchise and Origin, why would I shell out for any new game? I really wish modding would be supported by Bioware. That might salvage something from SP, perhaps enough to rekindle my interest.

I know for myself, I would have long ago forsaken this game had it not been for MP. What are your thoughts on this matter? Remember, whatever comes after could well be defined by your comments!

Do you wonder what answer you'd get if you posted this question on the other (general discussion/story/etc.) forums? Or did you do that already?

I'd simply say I've had different experiences. I very much prefer MP combat to SP combat and I've sunk about 10 times as much time into ME3 MP than into ME3 SP. And MP is definitely going to keep me interested in this universe till ME4 comes out or maybe DA3.

EDIT: Formatting...

MP is addicting, but it is not very far above average in my book of MP.
I wish I hadn't sunk so many hours into this game....and am not still sinking hours into this damn game!

This. The gameplay of Mass Effect, while good (in this installment at least) would never stand on it's own without the storyline being the backbone. Especially not in 1. That game was a travesty of failure throughout it's mechanics, and the storyline was the only thing keeping it standing, like a sword impaled in a dead guy in Dwarf Fortress. 2 wasn't much better, it's lower difficulties were too easy, and Hardcore and Insanity were too unbalanced against debuffs and ragdoll powers. And still kind of too easy.

While playing as Shepard in this installment is still easy - it's not the only source of challenge, and now comes off as rather deliberate. Multiplayer now provides the challenge, and while you can keep playing it on and on and on, it's far more fun if you have a campaign (or several) you're invested in. And if you keep drinking that haterade as to the plot of 3 - you might want to reconsider your fandom of this universe in general. It's probably not your best fit, even if you like the characters.

Single player was kinda depressing for a lot of reasons, one of those just that it is the final game in a series I've loved.
I read The Lord of the Rings every few years and I feel the same way every time I turn that last page.
As a result I've avoided playing it.
Multi-player has the fun without any of the baggage so I keep going there for my ME3 fix.
Despite the ending, there is a gravity to the game that may not exisist when the game is taken as a whole, but can be found through out in some very well done and emotional scenes.
I guess to answer the question I've had more fun playing MP, but if I had to choose one or the other I'd choose SP.
if that makes any sense

This. SP was kind of sketchy, both to battles amount and scenario. MP gives good battles all day long; and that's really everything you need from any multiplayer. And MP does not have scenario problems, because it needs scenario no more than porn movie.

SP has BPP.
MP does not.
I'll let you do the math.
