I only like ME3MP because of the positive association I have for the world and races from single player.

Without the lore of SP, I wouldn't have enjoyed MP.

This. The gameplay of Mass Effect, while good (in this installment at least) would never stand on it's own without the storyline being the backbone. Especially not in 1. That game was a travesty of failure throughout it's mechanics, and the storyline was the only thing keeping it standing, like a sword impaled in a dead guy in Dwarf Fortress. 2 wasn't much better, it's lower difficulties were too easy, and Hardcore and Insanity were too unbalanced against debuffs and ragdoll powers. And still kind of too easy.

While playing as Shepard in this installment is still easy - it's not the only source of challenge, and now comes off as rather deliberate. Multiplayer now provides the challenge, and while you can keep playing it on and on and on, it's far more fun if you have a campaign (or several) you're invested in. And if you keep drinking that haterade as to the plot of 3 - you might want to reconsider your fandom of this universe in general. It's probably not your best fit, even if you like the characters.

Good answer. I wouldn't playing MP either if I didn't love the ME universe as much as I do. OTOH, while I don't violently hate it, I still am quite disappointed at the story of ME3, so strictly speaking, I do enjoy MP more than SP.

Straight-up gameplay has never been the strong suite of the ME trilogy, it's always been the universe itself, whether it be story or characters or what have you.

Hard to say. SP was a great experience, but MP offers countless hours of re-playability.

Every time I go to replay the SP I find myself quitting and going back to MP within an hour or so. So there's that.

If it wasn't for the mp I would've sold the game the same day I finished it.

I must say that I´m more SP than MP gamer, playing rpgs mostly for story and decisions, not about combat for me. I was annoyed by 50% readiness, so I tried MP for that 100% game completion. Boy I was shocked how much more fun is killing things with real people, not useless teammates in SP. That gives more points to MP for me right now, but I still love whole trilogy because of great story and characters.

I dont know. SP and MP are different animals. Asking which is better really isn't comparing apples to apples since one is co-op multiplayer horde challenges and the other is role play.

I can hardly bring myself to play as Shep anymore...

For lol's play as infil shep w/ bonus power flare from medbay.  Cloak flare to cancel flare cooldown for masive flare spam and the occasional BW shots.  I use to micro manage my team, with flare I forget I even have a team.

Till flare is put in MP, it is indeed one satisfying aspect single play has for sure..

SP is good, but the ending made me feel some choices I made in last 2 titles are totally indifferent.
MP is good, too, but the better part is what you did really matter, at least you have N7 LV, banners and credits for better equips, and the game itself is really fun.

So yes, now I like MP more than SP.

Yes. There is so much more variability. A large variety of powers and weapons are not available in SP, and after you've had the regenerative powers of a Vorcha, the speed of a Drell, or the brute force of a Krogan, going back to Shepard is honestly just boring. Especially since there's not exploration in ME3 outside the stupid map screen, and even that is frustrating and not fun because of the reapers on it. SP was a gigantic let-down, but MP keeps me going, and is insanely enjoyable. Close to 350 hours already and still counting. I have all of the characters and all weapons except the N7 Valkyrie, and still I keep playing.

I enjoy SP for the story (despite all the whining), but MP is like a good poker night every night. Well, metaphorically speaking, since I find poker boring as washing toilets.

Beat the campaign three times - and have purchased and completed all the DLC to date. Roughly 40 hour playthrough for each. That's about 120 hours. Give or take of course. Then I have over 580 hours of mp logged in. But that is deceptive. For multiplayer you're doing the same horde wave bull**** over and over again. And playing with friends. Of course you're going to play that more than the campaign.

They're both great, but the edge still goes to the campaign for me. I still love almost everything to do with it.

I was more disappointed with Thane dying, and us not being able to save him, 1000x more than the ending.

My single players hours: 40 hours of utter disappointment and disservice to fans, as well as betrayal of everything the franchise stood for (except for good-looking cutscenses and epic musical score, which are mostly a question of budget).
Multiplayer hours: 120 hours of the best Horde-mode multiplayer action I have ever seen. And bear in mind: I played on the horrible handicapped PC version with that stupid "spacebar for everything" and no dedicated servers and still had fun. And will continue to play it.

I think this is pretty clear.

If I have anything to say about this: the only way I am ever going to buy another Mass Effect game is if it is an expanded and fleshed-out Mass Effect 3 multiplayer mode. Never touching the storyline of this series ever again. BioWare has proven that they don't give a damn about loyal fans and will always sacrifice game's integrity trying to appeal primarily to newcoming casual audience. They've also proven a complete lack of understanding of their existic audience, undoubtedly due to lack of proper interaction. Multiplayer doesn't suffer from that as much as storyline does, so it's the only way I am ever touching this series again.

I played through the SP once - it was a lazy, glitchy, nonsensical mess, which no amount of polishing or DLCs will ever fix. Tried the MP on a whim after that (I'd heard a good thing or two about it previously, but never thought I'd be playing a tacked-on MP mode in a Mass Effect game. Six months, 500 hours, and 1500 matches later, here I am. Multiplayer is the saving grace of the mediocre main game, and If I ever buy ME4, I'll buy it for the multiplayer.

To wit, yes. By a landslide.

Like others have said, I feel that MP (despite its many flaws) prevented ME3 from being a real failure.

The ME universe is rich and diverse, fantastic really. It is such a shame that the SP ended so poorly. I play MP to pass the time and frankly because I don't have anything better to do at the moment.

I'll be hesitant to purchase any more ME-related SP content (though I prefer SP in general) due to the way ME3 SP was handled.

MP > SP.

Not only because of a few major short comings, but who wants to do another play through as boring human Shepard when I can run around as a Vorcha or Geth?  To some people that reasoning may seem petty, but the options are too many for me to play a human character.

AND on top of that, MP feels way more supported than SP.  There are (or have in the past, haven't been around lately) devs posting and anwsering questions or letting us know stuff/playing with people all the time.  It's nice.

MP is so much better then SP because:
1) you can play as other races
2) you can use other powers not available in sp
3) you play with a team and can use tactics
4) you have more variety in weapon choice
5) playing with friends is so much more fun

SP was, overall crap (yeah, there were some good parts, but only parts.) MP was great and totally redeemed the game for me.  Heck, I haven't even bought any of the SP DLC and in ME1 and 2 I scooped it all up.

Quality of the Plot is similar

Better Squaddies in MP

MP had more powers

SP has more guns (for now?)

MP is defiantly better

edit: and PCs in MP have more variety, even if they have fewer powers at once.

I'd say MP > SP
Although some days it changes because of BSN's MP forum section.
The lack of intelligence I've found here can make me feel downright depressed about the game and I can only find solace through some SP.

I don't think MP and SP are comparable, since they are a completely different experience. I play MP to shoot stuff with the many different builds and classes available and SP to explore the ME universe and punch annoying tabloid journalists in the face. I love them both, although I've obviously spent more time playing MP than SP (like most people here), since MP has a higher replay value.

The singleplayer was still pretty good, as far as games go. It went downhill rather fast after the Tuchanka line though and isn't anywhere near as good as ME2 or ME1.

Yeah, the MP is the only that has kept me playing, I have no interest in running around the 5 rooms of the citadel I'm permitted to be in and flying around and empty galaxy map playing keep away from cockroach sized reapers again.
