I've been playing ME, ME2, and then ME3 for the past few weeks, and found out that the latest ME3 patch makes Ashley turns on and off Marksman nonstop while squatting behind cover doing nothing..
Also squad AI of ME3 in general is much worse than ME and ME2.
Other than that, it was good to go back to play them.
Especially importing save files makes them more interesting because of lots of cameo characters.

I'd say yes. I got into MP late though, and had several SP playthroughs.

If it wasn't for the mp I would've sold the game the same day I finished it.

This.

First ME game I've played. The ending before the extended cut confused me (still confuses me after, but its a little better now). I would have stopped playing after beating the game the first time and never looked back.

MP kept me playing it long enough to find out how much Bioware choked on the ME3 ending and how great ME2 was/ is (story-wise). I purchased ME2 and might/ will purchase ME1 now that its on PS3.

MP thought me how to play ME3, so SP is too easy now, even on Insanity, and Shepard feels neutered compared to the MP kits. MP is also the reason I haven't completed a single campaign on ME2 already.

They are different. The only thing that makes MP significantly better than SP is the lack of a sh*tty ending in MP. The Ending has done more to keep me from doing a second SP play-through than my love of the MP.

Good point . SP was fun, and ignoring the last 20 minutes or so of the game very enjoyable, but MP (with all DLC) has been excellent and a real surprise. I didn't expect to sink so much time into it, or have so much fun.

SP was good... but even ignoring the ending, it still left me feeling a bit empty. Even with the handful of phenomenal moments and good story, it didn't have the soul that the first two games did. I've done two and a half playthroughs, and even though I've played and generally enjoyed the DLC, I just can't find a reason to do a full run again.

Honestly, after DA2 and ME3, I doubt I'd pre-order another BioWare game based solely on its SP content.

MP, on the other hand, has kept me engaged since the demo. If ME4 promises to build off of what the stellar dev team has learned with this entry, I'll certainly buy it for the MP alone, regardless of whatever SP campaign they slap together.

I played through the SP once - it was a lazy, glitchy, nonsensical mess, which no amount of polishing or DLCs will ever fix. Tried the MP on a whim after that (I'd heard a good thing or two about it previously, but never thought I'd be playing a tacked-on MP mode in a Mass Effect game. Six months, 500 hours, and 1500 matches later, here I am. Multiplayer is the saving grace of the mediocre main game, and If I ever buy ME4, I'll buy it for the multiplayer.

To wit, yes. By a landslide.

SP had some truly memorable moments, but as a full product, MP was better for me. ME3 had too many issues with the way its SP was constructed. Not nearly as replayable as the first two games in the series.

SP is what got me to buy this game. MP is what gets me still playing this game.

Despite being two parts of the same game, they're both different enough for me that I would not compare them and say that one was better than the other. Both were great experiences in their own right.

the MP gives us the replay value ME3 SPcouldnt, despite mass effect 2 being worthy of 3-6 playthroughs for the hardcore ME fans.
me3 just didnt have.... that.

No. SP was what made me love the ME universe in the first place. ME1 is probably my favorite game ever, and despite its flaws, I liked the ME3 SP story better than the action from MP.

I enjoyed playing through SP but MP definitely gets you much more hooked. I don't know if that makes it "better" but I have enjoyed MP much more than SP.

I love them both. Only because I've been playing this game ever since the first one came out. Now that I got some closure storyline wise, I'll continue to kick ass on the Multiplayer side.

Like others have said, it's hard to compare when they serve different purposes. I've always enjoyed the combat in the series (well, maybe not in ME1 so much), but the story/characters were always the best part for me. If SP had lived up story-wise to the previous games, then it would be a no. However MP helped drown my sorrows about the SP ending, and it's been great to play with other dedicated Mass Effect fans for the first time.

Basically if there were no MP I would have been pissed about buying the Collector's Edition after seeing the ending. MP makes my money worthwhile.

Mass Effect 1 showed a lot of RPG campaign potential, although admittedly still had lots of flaws, it was still my favorite campaign. ME2 & ME3 campaigns feel more like an action adventure style game with some sparse RPG elements.

Multiplayer is its own beast though. Overall I would say I have more fun playing multiplayer, but it feels like an empty kind of fun that lacks clear direction or purpose.

I hope ME4 can bring some narrative to the MP scene.

Yes sp is basically 2 runs and you have seen it all. Mp is far more time-consuming and a ton of fun during it.

MP in a way has actually ruined my SP game for me. It's a cake walk even on insanity. So I basically only play it for the story. In ME1/2 I actually tried different builds. But now no reason to run through multiple build styles in SP if I can do that on multi player.

SP crushes MP easily imo.
I have spent a lot of time on both (SP about 80 hours, MP about 680) but without the love I am feeling for the ME Universe I would never have touched MP. It is fun but nothing more.
I just play MP to stay in this Universe until they release new SP content or even better, a new game.

ME3 is perhaps the most successful game to make SP RPG players into MP players.

I like the characters in the SP. That's about it.

MP is more enjoyable in the long run. Especially with these expansions.

They're both truly amazing, I feel that the SP game was slightly rushed and not as polished as it could have been, but amazing nonetheless. The new enemy factions within the reapers and Cerberus are awesome. Playing the SP game after becoming competent on multiplayer is a real eye opener, you understand the mechanics of biotic explosions and tech bursts and it adds a whole new level to the gameplay! Mass Effect is arguably one of the greatest games ever made, within the top ten easily!
