For me, its easily the MP - it does what it sets out to do.
One of the best tactical COOP options on the market IMO.

The SP on the other hand... as much as I still love Mass Effect, including 3, the ending severed my affection so entirely that it took till Christmas before I could be bothered revisiting any of the games.

Both are bad. MP is somewhat more tolerable because of new classes

For games in general and certainly for ME3, SP does not hold much replay value for me. I look to MP for repay value.

But, the ME3 SP game mechanics do not work in MP. Taking away the pause button was not enough and in fact the pause button is what makes ME3 SP playable for me.

There is a lot about ME3 MP that I find frustrating and I will not subject myself to this ever again:
1) Third person view that blocks the screen.
2) Narrow FOV.
3) Swervy controls.
4) Mundane animations such as reloading grant the enemy stun/stagger immunity.
5) Troll Store

Absolutely. The SP was a considerably disappointment. That's not to say it was a bad game, it wasn't, but it should have been great. What we got was a decent, but ultimately rushed campaign that fell short in many more ways than a terrible ending.  Not to mention every single player DLC released has been content initially intended for the game. Omega was one of the first rumored missions during development, yet they cut it and relegated it to DLC where it has zero impact.

MP > SP, but I also feel that MP is partly to blame for the SP's short comings, despite what BioWare says. Resources were shifted to implement MP as it was not in the initial game design.

You can't close the reactor on people in SP. Nuff said. Right, Radford?

The thing is that the ending was so bad in single player that it ruined the replay value for me and I have only completed the single player game once in ME3. In ME2 I had completed that campaign at least 20 times, had multiple imports with different choices made, etc.

However, I was upset that they added the MP to ME3 when I heard about it because I thought it would take resources away from the SP game. As it turned out, the MP is the thing that has been wonderful - I have played over 900 hours.

So its a combination of the ending being really poor ( the rest of the single player game is really great, btw ) and the MP being really enjoyable that has led me to playing the MP so much. Also, its the only MP game that I've ever played and the co-op nature of the game I really enjoy. Its a big success imo, and I would look forward to another MP game in this series. I would enjoy another single player game in this series if it was more like ME2 - at least in that game you could save everyone if you did all the recruit missions and selected the right people for each job on the suicide mission.

I tried to get back to SP today, new game. It's boring. I used to love it, but now, after Mp, it's ... boring.

I loved the storyline of singleplayer from start to finish. The story of Mass Effect 2 & 3 will remain with me for a long, long time as some of the best writing in videogames (and don't you bloody dare tell me that Legion's story wasn't poignant, you'd have to be some kind of soulless monster). Okay, it might not be To the Moon in regards to emotional brilliance, but still, it was fantastic and I couldn't fault the game or the characters. ME3 could have used a geth squadmate, though, but that's just my personal pref.

As for multiplayer? MP allowed me to play turians, krogans, volus (volus!), and my ever beloved geth. There's just something so brilliant about that. I don't know about anyone else, but I find playing humans in games to be boring, for those who're aren't exactly gifted in regards to creativity or imagination, and just want to put themselves in the game (usually with hot wife and fast car, you know, the most common power fantasies of all time). Yawn.

I'm not interested in any of that, I get fed up of it quickly. This is why not a whole lot of gaming is actually applicable to my tastes. But give me a geth to play? Okay, now we're talking! Or a krogan, or a turian, or a volus. I'm just at my happiest when I don't feel that my character probably talks about tree age via rings and plaid wallpaper at a run-down bar when he's off-duty. Which I'm fairly sure is what those N7 guys do. In their armour (the armour never comes off). See? That's being silly with one's imagination, but I can't do much for the human blokes than that. They're just so boring.

ME3's single-player was also amusing because of Hackett, whose accent had me convinced that he was drunk 95% of the time. "Please... I can't understand a word you're saying. Just put Anderson back on the line. Anderson is a cool guy, he's okay, I'm okay with him. I feel I can actually talk to him. I don't know what you're saying, Hackett! ENUNCIATE!!!"

Oh Hackett. Then again, I suppose that if I were in his position, I'd be drinking a lot too. I wish he'd just gotten a krogan to relay things for him. I can understand the angriest krogan better than I can Hackett. Good grief.

...what were we talking about again?

Well, anyway, both single-player and multi-player have their multifaceted virtues.

ME2 single player was the best of the trilogy overall. ME1 will hold a special place as it was where it all began.

ME3 was bound to be dreary given the overall context - a galaxy fighting for survival. While extremely polished, it always lacked the soul and vitality of the previous games.

MP well, we are still playing it even after all these months and so many releases. I like how Far Cry 3 co op mode tells a story and is co op at the same time. Maybe ME4 can have something similar.

What you all fail to understand is that Bioware was never good at developing video games as in games. They made stories and interactive movies.

ME3 Multiplayer is in fact a very well done and unique shooter that combines elements of RPG games and TPS Cover shooters

Though I think the best game was ME1, the combat system was very refined. ME2 combat was a whack-a-mole where you take cover behind indestructible couches that are resistant to missile explosions

SP was amazing, and could of singlehandedly made ME3 game of the year. MP has taken up more of my time I guess. I did beat single player 4 times, and years from now I could see myself firing it up again.

I think they are both equal but one day ME3 multiplayer won't be around.

You can talk about single player ending all you want. I know it was a poor ending. I view all three games as the best individual story/game ever made. There is not another series to accomplish what ME has, or even come close. I can't discredit ME SP, with 100's of great moments because of one bad one. What other game elicits these kind of emotions? I almost brokem my monitor watching someone's yoututbe game when something unbelieveable happened to Tali. Everytime Moridin takes that elevator I shed a tear on the inside.

You can cry about the bugs in MP all you want. The sad fact about modern gaming is they are all full of bugs. Skyrim won game of the year as the buggiest game in history. I would love a patch just to address some of the glaring issues but they have given us more free content than any game in recent memory.

Name a game they developed that stood up poorly as a game. Every single one has had a good system and great mechanics. ME2 brought a lot of refinement to the combat system and added a ton of new aspects. We all missed some of the RPG elements of one, but they actually pulled the transition well unlike Dragon Age 2.

The single player was way too easy. I got really bored even on insanity.

Also, the Multiplayer game has no ending, so it is superior to the single player game by far.

I like the SP, I don't have issues with the ending (I can see the problems, but it's not game breaker for me like it is for some players), I loved a lot of new stuffs they did, I loved most of the missions, already played 3 times, but yeah, the MP was a big deal on this game, and the SP feel lacking since it wasn't what we thought it would be. I like both, but MP was really, really a good addition...

Most of the game's value comes from MP, though at its core it is an SP game.

I wouldn't be playing Mass Effect 3 if it wasn't for the MP(sadly), but if I had a better MP game I wouldn't play as much as I do.

I concur, this feature alone secures MP's superiority to the SP part of ME3!

(I'd watch my back the next time we play reactor hazard if I were you ಠ_ಠ)

Great single player game.
Average multi player game.
