And goddamn does he tear sh** up, pure destruction with Incendiary Ammo! I was quite surprised to see a (somewhat) mediocre multiplayer gun handling itself that well in the hands of a teammate. Also, playing as an Adept, another thing I found useful was equipping Liara/EDI with the Acolyte; all those stripped shields means more biotic explosions with less effort, which is always a good thing.

Do you have any other useful weapon suggestions for your teammates?

Yup, Typhoon for all Assault Rifle capable squaddies
Acolytes for pistol capable squaddies
GethPlasmaShotty for Tali
Aim in the head
Drink beer and be great!

Give Javik the Particle Rifle, it's got to be more than just giving a miner his own pickaxe (or maybe the power of suggestion is strong with this one).

Anyway I think you've got a firmer grip than me about what works, never thought squad members would be any good with the Acolyte. I'll give that a shot next time I play, thanks.

Yup, I always give Javik his Particle Rifle with the Assault Rifle Magazine Upgrade and Assault Rifle Piercing Mod/High-Velocity Barrel, same setup as I use on my N7 Destroyer in multiplayer with great success.

Another helpful feature of the Acolyte is its ability to stun/stagger your basic trooper units, so all in all it's a great support weapon for teammates able to use pistols. Posted Image

does team mates suffer from Acolytes recharging time or do they "cheat" and use it like it was in MP for a while?

Haha yeah I pretty much had the same experience when I first put the Typhoon on James (and Garrus too for that matter).  It's actually a little too epic for me, so I have them use the Typhoon as a secondary mosty.

I also like the Acolyte, as you mentioned. Been putting the Venom on James as a primary lately. I'm liking it. He's good with it, but not so good that I'm not even needed to complete the mission. Blood Pack Punisher/Hurricane, and PPR are also weapons I like to use on squaddies.

I just checked, and it appears they were lucky enough to be outfitted with the revised/pre-nerfed variant that doesn't need to be charged up. Just another reason to let them rock it! B)

Thanks for this info. Going to have to try it out for them next time I play SP.

In what universe is the N7 Typhoon "somewhat mediocre" in multiplayer?

Mine's currently at level IV in MP and I find it quite underwhelming, being a UR and all. Perhaps it'll make a bigger impression on me when I eventually get it to X, but until then I'll stick to my Harrier V.

IMO Garrus seems to do best with it, he will pretty much solo the game for you. I saw him kill Banshees, Brutes and Ravagers in a few seconds with it. But that gun is overpowered so any squadmate with it is crazy good really.

The Blood Pack Punisher from the first weapon pack is great for EDI or Liara. I also like the Krysae and the Adas (from the same pack) for squadmates. I really like that weapon pack, the second one, aside from the Typhoon was not as good I think. I wish I hadn't bought it.

All MP-to-SP guns exist in their un-modified state, so the SP Typhoon is the same as the pre-nerf MP Typhoon, which was probably one of the most powerful guns in the game at the time.

This is false.

If you check the bin file, the SP version of the Typhoon is the nerfed one.

I put the Typhoon on Garrus and told him to put Armor-Piercing Ammo on it and he totally raped the Banshees and Brutes on Earth (I was able to get the Reaper to kill some of the Banshees with its laser XD). I also had it on every other AR capable squad member except Javik (I always give him his Particle Rifle) and when ever I used them we would demolish anyone in our way. Playing as an Engineer with Dominate as well as Sabotage, Combat Drone, and Sentry Turret also adds to the epicness!

I actually had to take it off my squadmates. The Typhoon on squadmates was making the game so brutally easy on Insanity (like it needs to be easier) that it was taking out all the fun in the game.

How about this then:

Multiplayer enemies have had their health/shields/armor/speed/space magic buffed.

The single-player enemies have been left alone.

Thus, powerful Typhoon.

Then I was misinformed. OTOH, the only gun I paid attention to is the Piranha, and the SP one still holds 8 shots.

I don't think they actually pick and choose what versions of the weapons to include, I think they just copy and paste them at a point in time.  I would have to review the balance changes, but a nerfed Typhoon w/o the bug fix should have existed simultaneously with the 8 shot Piranha.

I wonder if giving your squdmates magazine upgrades is worth it, since they do not run out of ammo. Or does it do something to the Particle Rifle that I havn't seen?

You have to take into consideration that the larger the magazine the longer you can take advantage of the PPR's maximum damage once it's fully charged up. Thus, the longer Javik can hold down the trigger the better, especially against boss-type units.

James with Typhoon + incendiary ammo = slaughterhouse even on insanity. I got him equipped with Crusader of Piranha and order him to bring up Typhoon only in case of emergency. Because otherwise there is no enemy for Shepard to kill, pure overpower.
