I've found that a combination of 1 Tank and 2 Melee damage dealers coupled with a CC + Heal mage is a lot of fun and can generally stomp through most situations no problem. Take either a sword-and-sheild PC or Alistair as the Tank, Shale as one damage-dealing option (as Shale also has ranged attacks + CC), and then either a DW Rogue or a 2H warrior.
A less powerful option is to take 1 Tank, 1 Melee Damage dealer, 1 Archer (high level archery means lots of long-distance one-shotting late-game) and 1 Mage (will need primarily to heal in tough fights).
