@OP

Sadly yes. I didn't think the day would come that I would lose interest in, at least, the first two games, but unfortunately I found the end of the series so... destructive, it has pretty much resulted in me not seeing the point of playing any of them. There'll no doubt be a time when I'll play 1 & 2 again, but 3...

As for the Mods question about ppl who've lost interest coming back... For me it's simple, I keep checking the Announcements forum in the hope they'll fix the face import issue properly... and from there have a quick look at the rest of the forum.

My passion for this series has remained constant since the day I picked it up. My 50k+ word eBook stands as a testament to that.

I lost interest but still like the game trilogy.

Have been playing alittle off an on of MassEffect 2 but very little. Just finished rushed thru the story from a previous save. Not going to do the shadow broker.

I might dive back into ME3 today but skipping wont download the harbinger DLC - I prob will DL the Omega one tho.

I donno if I will play thru it tho the whole ME3 game again. The ending with the extended cut still kinda sucks even after. Because I already know the ending scene of my Shepard dies like a chump reguardless that he saves anyone.

And to go that far I to the game just seems like a waste of time.

ME1 I have infact replayed several times over the past few months.

What would be awesome is if there was a DLC specifically for Miranda.

Anyway I was done with the game after the extended cut. As for multiplayer never gonna go back there. Well maybe out of sheer boredom but is have to be very bored

It's just that ending is all that still sucks.

I know this may sound a little snarky, but I really don't mean it to. I mean this as an actual legitimate question:

Then why are you here?

"I don't like ME anymore" (for whatever reason. Didn't like the ending, didn't like the DLC, didn't like ME3 core game, MP, etc). Why are you still here?

I have, over the course of a long life, fallen in and out of love with games, authors, films, etc. When I am done with them, I am done with them. I don't linger, hang around, etc and tell people about how I am "done" with whatever it is. Sure, maybe later on, I come back to it and reread/replay/rewatch, etc and maybe get involved again, but if I am done with something, I leave it.

So if you have "lost interest" (or similar) why are you still here?

Maybe Chris, just maybe I keep coming back because Mass Effect used to be the one game I would always enjoy playing.

I don't think you really understand the level of enjoyment I took from ME1 and ME2. I remember pre ME3 Launch I went to the spoilers section for half a second and saw something about the mass relays blowing up. Out of context that seemed like a pretty bad thing. No mass relays? Madness that would destroy the entire story!

You know what I thought about that bit of spoiler? "Bioware will handle it with some serious class, how else could they?"
I'm not sure weather to laugh or cry when I remember that. I used to believe in this company, in its story, in its quality.

Why do I come back? I certainly don't come back to praise or disscuss this...game.

I know you are just a PR guy but I want you to understand that you are defending a game that turned a complete zealot of a fan like me completely away.

And Chris when you ask that question you are sawing away at the very last bit of hope I have for this franchise. With every DLC announcement I can't help but think to myself "This is the one, this is the one where bioware says "We got you guys! haha suck it now here is the real ending""

I come back because I want to care but you and your entire company seems insistant on giving me reasons not to.

I was at a Best Buy last week and was browsing the movies (the small selection they had anyway). While browsing I noticed Paragon Lost sitting there in the anime section. It caught my eye, so I picked it up. Then I thought...

Here is a product, from Bioware, that I would usually jump at. In my hands, for a small price, is something I would usually not have to think twice about buying. After the ruckus that was ME3, I seriously have to find justification for the purchase of one of their products.

That's when I realized that I had lost interest in the entirety of the franchise. Before it was just the game, but now it has expanded to its other media forms. In fact, the only reason I'm even typing this is because I had this forum as a favorites book mark.

So, yes. I too have lost interest after the EC. I'm sure we are not alone.

ME3's a total disappointment for me but I haven't lost interest in the series itself. I hope that whatever comes next is going to be awesome.

I have lost interest in ME3, I haven't touched singleplayer really since EC came out except to change the ending of one of my playthroughs. The only reason I have 3 & 1/2 complete playthroughs is because I had hoped that the EC would fix the endings, which in my eyes, it didn't. I still have small hope that Bioware will come out with an actual ending DLC, however unlikely it is, however much Bioware insists that EC is the final ending DLC (even though they have lied before in the weeks before the release of ME3). I am currently playing ME2 on insanity just to get the achievements aquired by doing so, though afterward I don't see myself playing it for a few months upon completion.

Its rather sad, since quite honestly, the Mass effect series was what turned me into a gamer.....but yes, I have lost a great deal of interest in the series.
I came in late, playing ME2 first, fell in love with it and imediately grabbed part one & for the next year and a half racked up over 8 full playthroughs with different Shepards, eagerly awaiting how the different playthroughs and decisions would effect the third game. I read every codex entry, knew the wiki inside out, I had the novels, the soundtracks, the comics & even the awesome 'the team' litho on my wall.
ME3 was, to me, a massive disapointment. Thats not to say it was all bad: my favorites (Garrus & EDI) were fantastic, there was some awesome voice acting, the graphics were impressive, and some of the missions (tuchanka & rannoch) were excellent, both in story and execution. But the majority of it left me very cold....to me, the things that made the series special (the lore, the little touches, the conversations with people on the hub worlds, the exploration and customization of the rpg elements ect.) seemed sadly lacking. It definitely had its moments, but for the most part it seemed to throw a lot of its quiet awesomness over for shooting-gallery style action and random autodiologue.
I never did even download the EC, or the subsequent DLC~although I did check them out on you-tube. Multiplayer amused me for a few weeks, but personally I found it got old very fast & seemed mostly for raising readiness~which for me was pointless, as I wasnt going to play through the game again anyway.
I havent picked up any of the ME titles since then~and that took a huge chunk out of my gaming. I will certainly be interested to see what Bioware comes up with for ME4, although it will be a rent-first title now, rather than an instant preorder...once burned and all that. I can only hope that the development team takes some of the (more constructive) fan criticism to heart and brings the elements back into their series that made people fall in love with it. Every franchise, no matter how great, has its stumbling block....its how it changes and grows from that point on that determines its ability to stay great.

The ending to Mass Effect 3 was a crime against humanity. I can't believe anybody is willing to give them any more money after this. I ranted earlier in this thread, so now it's time for me to praise, instead.

I grew up with the NES, and the Apogee/3D Realms/id Software MS-DOS games. There once was a time when story in games were either filler or nonexistent. Then I played the original Metal Gear Solid, and it changed my entire outlook on video games. Because of its truly magnificent and cinematic story and presentation, I hailed it as the greatest game of all time. Metal Gear Solid was more than a work of art, it was a beautiful masterpiece. Keep this seemingly off-topic info in mind for the next paragraph or two.

Over the years, I played a lot of story-based games, including most of Bioware's library. I remember being very impressed with Mass Effect 1 & 2, but no game ever really managed to unseat Metal Gear Solid's story as the best of all time.

Then came Mass Effect 3. I was excited for several reasons. The foreshadowing ending of ME2, the pre-release information, the trailers, the demo... I had never been this pumped up about a game in my entire life (I rented MGS on a whim before I had ever heard of any Metal Gear). I bought ME3 on launch day, and I was immediately blown away. Throughout the game, I continued to experience multiple awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping moments, followed by many heartwarming moments. Fighting against an apocalypse with characters that I had bonded with and, had come to care about and cherish as friends... I had never experienced anything like this in my entire life. It was exhilarating, and it simply would have been impossible to achieve this feeling without an entire trilogy of buildup.

I was finally ready to proclaim Mass Effect 3 as the new greatest game of all time, and my new favorite game of all time. And then came the moment of truth. In less than 5 minutes, an entire franchise came crumbling down in a heap. I was devastated, heartbroken, confused, shocked, lost, and in total denial. Surely this ending was just a sick joke, and the real ending had to be unlocked. No... I was wrong.

Hopefully now you'll see why so many of us are still here. We want to make this right. We want to undo the damage and restore Bioware's reputation as a "high quality" developer. We can still be friends and bury the hatchet, but we would appreciate it if you would meet us halfway.  Though, to be honest, I will never fully trust you again.

I love this damn series as much as ever. Started a new Shepard in ME 1 (all of my other Shepards have been lost due to my xbox 360 getting stolen a few months back) Got it replaced but those Shepards I have worked on have been lost forever. Now if I can only pry my GF away from the damn TV once in a while so I can play the xbox.

Not sure if I responded to the question before but I only have interest in the squad-mates in the Mass Effect series (One of the reason I most likely wont buy ME4.)

I haven't lost interest... although I noticed not too long ago I started to enjoy playing as a renegade through the series more so now than ever. My paragon'ish instinct has always dominated most everyone of my playthroughs.. however after the letdown of the endings (preEC and EC) I've noticed that I channel a lot of my feelings of the endings into being a ruthless don't care about anything get the job done A-hole. Especially knowing the outcomes of all the ending choices now .. Shep going out guns blazin' becomes all the more enjoyable for me.

I haven't lost interest in the Mass Effect series at all and I continue to eagerly await the final ME3 DLC and a future Mass Effect game.

I do feel that everything from the run to the beam onwards is very flawed but it doesn't stop any of the games from being thoroughly enjoyable and I'm really interested in where they may take the series next.

I keep coming back in a forlorn hope that Bioware will come to their senses and fix the ending farce so that it can be more rewarding for those who didn't like the current endings.

I also keep coming back because when you take some skin off you can't help but pick at the scab as it heals or slow down to pass a train wreck and gawk.

To add to discussion, why is none pointing out that normandy at the very beginning of the game was in range of a 2 reapers in close proximity and wasn't shot at.

Reaper destroys evac shuttles while shepard and his crew looks from a hovering normandy.

That makes sense yea :)

I think that even if your in close proximity with a Reaper the IFF keeps the Reapers at bay.
There was brought up that when you wander in the galaxy map the Reapers come at you in order to destroy you...I think that is because Bioware wanted to ''sharp' the mood. Nevertheless, every game has its flaws.
