Mostly, I'm still addicted to certain characters, but otherwise - most that I loved has faded, sadly.

So far, the DLCs have not addressed a SINGLE concern that people have with ME3 save this: more sidequests (that's inherently obvious in any DLC.)

I know this may sound a little snarky, but I really don't mean it to. I mean this as an actual legitimate question:

Then why are you here?

"I don't like ME anymore" (for whatever reason. Didn't like the ending, didn't like the DLC, didn't like ME3 core game, MP, etc). Why are you still here?

I have, over the course of a long life, fallen in and out of love with games, authors, films, etc. When I am done with them, I am done with them. I don't linger, hang around, etc and tell people about how I am "done" with whatever it is. Sure, maybe later on, I come back to it and reread/replay/rewatch, etc and maybe get involved again, but if I am done with something, I leave it.

So if you have "lost interest" (or similar) why are you still here?

It's like the setting of a funeral for someone you love. Certain personality types may just burn off but most of the others will congregate for mutual support. There is a comfort to be found in shared grief. That's why I read the boards. Just like a memorial for someone lost, people will gather and mourn together. Some will say, "Be happy, so and so is in a better place." (pro-enders) Some will say, "Oh, maybe he's not dead, maybe he's a POW somewhere?" (IT & various theorists) But the most common response comes from those who huddle together moaning, "Why did it have to end this way?!" (everyone else)

It's really out of respect for thething lost that keeps many disappointed players around, imo.

The sad part is my wife and I both love the ME universe, the lore the characters and species. But neither one of us can play the games anymore. I've played the original two games about 4-5 times each, she's played them.... a lot more.

I couldn't even make it through my second play through of ME3. I couldn't stop thinking how terrible the ending was and how unfulfilled and poorly written it was. Wife hasn't touched any of the three games again for the same reasons.

It's sad that I loved this franchise so much and now even thinking about it or seeing news on it brings me back to that terrible ending. Been gaming my whole life and no game ending has ever managed to kill all interest in playing a franchise again like ME3.

I'm with you both on this one other than my partner doesnt play games other than sonic or tomb raider, But as regards to what you say about killing the interest then i'm with you 100% on that one, ME3 has single handedly split a fanbase, poisoned nostalgia in that ME1/2 are pointless and i also havent done a 2nd playthrough of ME3, i got to mars and bam the dissapointment of the whole game came flooding back, the ending travesty masked the other gaping problems. Such a shame as i was gonna do a trilogy playthrough had ME3 delivered on what was promised, But man the game just isnt entertaining or a joy to play, if anything it's an ordeal and games shouldnt feel that way.

Why can't Bioware get it through their thick heads? When the people who supported you from day one and loved everything you did suddenly become pissed off, SOMETHING IS WRONG. Why don't they get that? Why do they feel so high and mighty that they think it's the fans' fault?

Yes, ME3 DLC will be EA's last chance to get money from me. We'll see how that goes.

Yeah I definitely lost interest pretty much in a heartbeat after EC. EC was my only hope to rekindle my love for this franchise because Mass Effect was the very first game I played for the xbox 360, I pretty much grew up with it through those 6 years I played Mass Effect 1 and 2 probably 100x. With Mass Effect 3 I only played it twice. As a long time fan the DLC's wouldnt do anything for me and my love for this franchise has all but died.

I did lose interest in ME after EC. Not because it was bad. It was not. I just don't see the point to continue playing DLCs that take place before the end.

I'm still, silently, hoping Bioware will listen to our pleas. That's the reason i'm still wandering around here.

I only finished the game once. Bought the DLC and played through both DLC additions also once. Since then I haven't touched the game. The ending - including EC - killed the replay value for me.

I played ME1 and 2 two months ago because of the DLC, i really felt like i could try to believe in IT
Then i put ME3(already beat it two times) and......i arrived to Mars, it is just screwed so bad that playing it after that goodam wonderful couple ME1-2 is just painfull
So yeah, for now yeah, i understood that i need to know that IT is true, because as it is ME3 is senseless and bad

Oh no. I find ME more entertaining than Star Trek. I like a lot of how the original lore works.

MP is still going pretty well. Not as many people play it but you can't say its not supported still by developer contests and free new content or by the players.
SP, the only thing I can be bothered with is I really want to see this new dlc (Leviathan/Omega I did not partake). I hope its the one that lets me focus on my squad and the banter and relations with them - that to me, is more fun than fighting more Reapers. I greatly wish its post-game... but I highly doubt it. All this pre-end dlc just seems like fluff against the infamous ending.

Chris, I'll field that one, no snarkiness taken.

I hated the original ME3 ending, both for its apparent indifference to my choices and for squandering a tremendous moment in storytelling. The Extended Cut is better, but only in the sense of reheating a cold meal:
it wasn't bold enough about offering a real improvement.

So, why am I, and others like me, still here?
  • We love the arc of ME, and we still identify with the series as a whole. Many have similar feelings about DA2.
  • As much as we didn't like the end, we love the good parts of the game, the losses with meaning and the earned victories: Mordin's farewell, the Cure, a contest with Garrus, an improbable peace. Hate the end, love the story.
  • We still have hope for the next title, in whatever form. It sure beats no hope.

Please don't be surprised that some players are angry - take that, rather, as a sign of commitment to your work.  You get angry only over things you care about.

Certain media have mocked the depth of response from the gaming community, but that's a misplaced view. We all benefit from people's ability to be moved by the written word, by a story unfolding, and that's a human a trait as I can imagine.

Not completely.
ME2 is still my favorite video game and I still care about some characters (despite the fact that they've been sidelined in ME3 <_<).

I love the ME universe and I love the way ME3 ends I didn't see any problems with the EC, it tied things up for me I don't need a scene where he says goodbye to his squad mates because it really isn't all that important, he's trying to survive there was no time for goodbyes not with all the stuff that was going on around them.  The story line is brilliant just because it didn't end how you wanted it to doesn't mean it's crap.

Good question from Chris...

To OP (and to Chris by the way), I still love ME Universe (novels, comics, statue, games...). Even if I dislike the ending of ME3, the universe was, is and will stay awesome. Shepard is certainly the greatest video game hero never created. It's a great job from BW.

However, since ME3 I have now a lot of difficulty to replay the Shepard's journey. I had played ME1 and ME2 more than 30 times (I remember the 1st time I ve played ME1... hard to explain my feelings but it was like the beginning of a long love story...). I am waiting for all SP DLCs to restart the journey, hoping to be surprised by another destination.

Shepard is a part of me. Hard to say good bye to him like that. I am certainly a geek, a crazy guy, an immature fan, call me like you want...

But I am not a hater, I am for the moment a disappointed lover.

And sorry for my (poor) english.

The trilogy?  Maybe, the series?  No way.
