After reading Chris's comments, yeah, I still think of the ME Universe from time to time. It's a great setting and still evokes feelings of awe and wonder.

What I HAVE stopped caring about is the ME story as told by bioware. I can always reimagine how I'd like the ME universe to have gone.

If you're really curious, it's basic psychology. Like minds and opinions gravitate towards each other. Basicaly, when an opinion is established you share, you linger at the location. When you establish your opinion, and the people in the imediate vacinity indicate they share the opinion, you keep posting.

Eventually, everyone will disperse... I was gone for months until I was reminded of this site because of some video I saw on Game Informer that completely frustrated me. Deriding all negative reaction as petulant or "of the minority" despite all evidence to the contrary is insulting. And yes, I know, it's fun to insult people, but when people get insulted they get angry, they gravitate to other outlets where that frustation is shared.

For me, Mass Effect died with the Normandy SR1.

I pretty much lost interest in the Mass Effect universe after finishing ME3. Very poor overpriced DLC and endless multiplayer crap just confirms they have lost their way. Wonderful universe totally spoilt by a few bad decisions.

I'm just hoping they release a Mass Effect game that sparks my interest again, something on par with Mass Effect 1 & 2. :(

We haven't lost interest. Why are we here? We care about what Mass Effect used to be. I beat Mass Effect 2 last week, again. And it was amazing. I popped in Mass Effect 3, trying to focus on what was good and what little was great about the game. I wasn't even able to get to Palaven before I quit playing. I can't bring myself to play this game. And that hurts because I absolutely love ME1 and 2, in fact they're my favorite games ever made.

I can't just let go of something that meant so much to me before all of this. It wasn't a videogame, it was something else entirely. And they way I feel even 10 months later is so bad that I think about it all the time. And the default answer is to "get over it, crybaby", and that doesn't bother me. What bothers me that people don't see the absurdity of the ending and bash anyone who speaks out against it.

With ME1, 2 and 3 I have a combined total of 27 complete playthroughs. ME1:12, ME2: 12, ME3: 3. Those numbers should speak unto themselves. The most playthrough's I have on any other game ever is 3 with Halo 1. I'm still here because I still care about what's left of the Mass Effect series.

I saw Mass Effect as having the potential to become as expansive in lore as even Star Wars. After what has happened with Mass Effect 3, its endings, and the degredation of the concept of the reapers across the games I no longer see it as having the that potential. If Bioware wishes to nurture and mold an expansive fiction, they should do so with Dragon Age by fixing the problems of DA2, as Mass Effect has been soiled.

I enjoy it, will revisit it, but don't need a sequel. Especially since there's no way to do so w/o cannoning the ending.

But I still enjoy ME1-3!

I'm kind of interested in how BioWare is going to pick up the pieces, after the ending outrage and Paragon Lost throwing nearly every bit of lore under the bus.

I loved mass effect 2 and with mass effect out for the PS3 I love that too. I just wished they spilt me3 into two games.

Me3: would be the reapers pushing into the Milky Way ending with one big turning of the tides battle.

Me4: all the races pushing the reapers out with it ending on earth with harby boss fight. Don't forget my BBQ at my new house on Rannoch after that.

"I don't like ME anymore" (for whatever reason. Didn't like the ending, didn't like the DLC, didn't like ME3 core game, MP, etc). Why are you still here?

I have, over the course of a long life, fallen in and out of love with games, authors, films, etc. When I am done with them, I am done with them. I don't linger, hang around, etc and tell people about how I am "done" with whatever it is. Sure, maybe later on, I come back to it and reread/replay/rewatch, etc and maybe get involved again, but if I am done with something, I leave it.

So if you have "lost interest" (or similar) why are you still here?

I don't think there's any of the people here who has lost interest. That is just a poor choice of words. But, a great many people are severely dissapointed for a number of reasons. They see one of their favourite game-series and worse, one of their favourite developers go down the drain.

That's how I perceive it. Mass Effect was amazing. Dragon Age; Origins was amazing. Everything you have released since then has been on a downhill slope. Rushed, underdeveloped and with a great many poorly implemented changes. All that without even mentioning the infamous endings of ME3.

You can take that as you want. You can can tell us not to debate certain issues or theories in the public forum. I would, however, were I in your shoes, stop and contemplate why all these people are still here, raging and spewing their venom?

I, for one, because I used to love your games. Games I have played since Baldur's Gate. And because I still cling on to a hope that you'll realize you are marching in the wrong direction, alienating a large part of your fan-base without getting anything in return.

I've not lost interest. What I've lost is hope. Better writers and analysts than I have written on ME3 and its endings. (If you truly are interested, two of my favorites can be found here and here.) Before I write a book on ME3, its strong points, and its flaws; let me ask you this. Do you really want to know? Or are you just asking to be polite? Not to be (particularly) rude, but I've seen precious little evidence that you are taking anyone's input into account. You say you're listening, but to whom, to what, and what have you changed because of what you heard? I'll grant that you removed the whole "galactic dark age" thing, but it was done in such a manner that it came across as petulant. Garrus and Tali were going to starve? Fine, we'll toss a crate of food on board instead of dealing with the bigger issue. The Mass Relays are going to blow up most inhabited solar systems in the galaxy? Fine, they now break apart instead of blowing up. The players want a choice besides RGB? Ok, we put a new ending in. You lose if you pick it. (And let me just say here that I feel it's telling that many people pick Refuse ANYWAY.) Catalyst is the most hated character we've ever made? You automatically trigger the You Lose ending if you shoot him. Everywhere were little tiny changes that technically met the requests people were making, without making any actual changes.

Let me ask something else, and I really WOULD love to know the answer. Why was it impossible to put additional endings into the game? They weren't going to disrupt ongoing continuity, as at that point in time you weren't planning on making any sequels. If they were additional endings instead of replacement endings, the people who DID like RGB weren't going to lose anything. The people who DIDN'T like RGB would get something more to their tastes, as well as assurance that Bioware WAS listening and DID care. (Something that many of us no longer feel.) If pride was an issue, than call it a Fan Pack, or an Additional Endings Pack, or...oh frell, if it gave me an alternative to Starbrat, I would have purchased it if it was called the SHUT UP ALREADY Pack. (Still would, to be perfectly honest.)

I was sure I was pretty much over Mass Effect, but after watching the MEHEM ending on youtube I have to join you in this.

To answer the topic question: Yes I have.  Without "conventional victory" or something similar, why bother?

All great points.

And for the record, I'd buy an additional endings dlc even if it was called the Entitled Whiner Pack, as long as it had an ending I could live with.

Perhaps the question is: is there a name they could give such a pack that we WOULDN'T still buy it?

(laughs)

Wouldn't it be great if that were the name of the achievement that unlocked at the end of the DLC?

Meh.

Long story short: I have lost interest, but not completely, obviously. I'm still here, aren't I?

The main reasons I stay here are for the friends I have made (I can't interact with some of them outside of BSN) and the group I participate it.

Exactly..If not I would just stick to Skyrim Forums & Nexus chat. I just learned how to use the Creation Kit properly  & its so much fun...

I just stick around here because I care about ME even though I don't play it very much anymore :)..

I've lost a fair amount of interest, but no, not all of it has been lost. And even if it had I would most likely still pay attention to the next Mass Effect's development. Out of curiosity and hope it can gain my interest.

I'm still very much so interested in the Mass Effect universe and where the next story can take it. Original endings initially made me want to stay far away, but EC made me feel a bit better. And what can I say, I'm a total sucker for sci-fi.

I'm still here because I care too much about the franchise. And I think what's keeping many of us around is the sunk costs fallacy, in that we aren't going to abandon something that we have put so much into.
