After meeting up with Duncan and others, after the initial storyline for my character (warrior), I am now in the wilds, and have come across some ashes. It appears, I am supposed to take the ashes somewhere and spread them, and hope for a wish. Does this transpire in the wilds? And if so, where? I have cleared out 90% of the area, including crossing the bridge facing a bloodspawn mage (he was tough at first), so I assume the ruins for the scrolls are closte by. But the ashes? Any ideas with minimal spoiler material possible?

Yes. A rock pile a bit north of where you found the ashes.

There is a pile of rocks to the north of the location of the dead soldier where you found the ashes. You sprinkle the ashes on those rocks.

There is a piece of rubble on a hill next to a deathroot near the place you found the ashes where you must use them.

Other than that I can't really tell much more (without telling too much), because it's pretty evident from reading the Codex entry that you receive ...

It's still past the bridge with that Hurlock Emissary, so quite likely you havent come across the pile of stones yet. If you have a PC edition, use the TAB key to highlight all interactable objects.

...well, he states that  he is past the bridge, and the ashes are found on a corpse that is also past the bridge.

But take a left when crossing the bridge and follow that edge until you find a pile of rocks.

But he also seemed to think that at that point he should have come across the ashes. I was just reassuring him he still hadnt gone far enough. Though by now he is probably way, way past that point

THANK YOU to everyone who replied. Very helpful. Evidently, I have not gone far enough, thinking for some weird reason, it was behind me, and I began to backtrack. Off to find the rocks (And thanks for the tab key hint too.)
