*cough* obligatory response to the haters *cough*

Lookin' good. Box art, region map, diagonal walking and possible character skins.
Get to choose clothes and accessories to wear even.

I like the camera movement in the battles. Really gets your face.

Okay, I thought I was FINALLY done with Pokémon games because I couldn't make my way through Pokémon White, and didn't even pick up Black 2 like I planned.

But now? WOOOOOOOOW.

I kinda don't want to, but DUUUUUDE.

Well, looks like I'm finally getting back into Pokemon. I will say though, it's about damn time the main series stepped into the 3D realm. (Coloseum and XD don't count dammit) I can't keep my hype-o-meter in check all of a sudden...

Oh, another generation where only one of the starters looks good. But whatever. I'll just use the fire one. Hoping for some semblance of plot.

I just hope we don't get another fire/fighting evolution.

Blaziken was a nice change of pace, Infernape was badass, Emboar was just stale.

To be fair, most type combinations that are useful are being used again and again anyway. Fire/Fighting was a very powerful offensive typing, and Infernape served as a faster and more physically oriented 'mon to highlight the advantages of the physical/special attack split, and Emboar was the flip side, sacrificing speed for defensive power.

In my opinion, the pokémon series has bloated into something beyond comprehension as of late, and if they are going to be using the previous gen 'mons then I'm a bit concerned about how useful and fun the new pokémon are going to be  in the first place. Generation V just saw a whole bunch of new versions of old pokémon with based on different concepts with increasingly eccentric stat distributions (like the aforementioned Blaziken-Infernape-Emboar thing).

Gotta be honest though, the game really looks interesting from what I've seen. Thanks for the heads up OP, I now have a reason other than FE: Awakening to get a 3DS. :wizard:

^  Good to see someone else looking forward to FE: Awakening.

Yeah, the fire one looks like it'll be my pick. I sure hope it doesn't become Fire/Fighting again too,  that would really be ridiculous.

Here are some Starter and Legendary pics. Liking the Forest God look on the first one, looks very Princess Mononoke. Also the latter looks like a giant Y. XD

Also bet you anything there will be a third special version with extra stuff not in the originals (as per tradition) somewhere down the road called Pokémon Z, what with the 3 dimensions and all. Or Ninty could go the DLC route as they are seemingly starting to do with their 3DS games nowadays, release the Z version extras as DLC on the  3DS eShop for those who already have the originals while also selling physical copies of Z version for those who wouldn't already have X/Y.

I was really into Pokemon when I was 10, so about 15 years ago. Last summer I tried to re-connect with some of the GBA versions, since I needed a good mobile game at the time. It worked out better than I expected, but eventually I grew bored of it.

This looks interesting, though. I still wish they would mature the series a bit, but that art style alone just looks so compelling. If there's another 3DS game or two that I would want to play to justify buying the console, I might pick this up.

I really wish Nintendo would just make an Android/iOS Pokemon game, so it's easier to hids while playing at work.

I'm excited and pretty impressed with how it's looking so far. The 3D alone is a bold step and refreshing to see new direction to the series, I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out. About time they change it up a little, tbh.

Also, totally going to rock the fire starter! ;)

Can anyone attest to how the series' stories have progressed in the last decade? I'm not expecting a BioWare story, but something better than "Prevent Team [Something] from [Obtaining | Destroying] [Something]" would be nice.

The Fifth generation got a lot wrong (in my opinion), but the story was the best in the series so far (also opinions).

Pokémon is always going to have a childlike appeal, but I was surprised at how many thematic, abstract, and moral conflicts they were able to squeeze out of Black and White. Nothing groundbreaking, but very refreshing for a pokémon game.

I can't attest to Black and White 2 however, I'm currently playing through for the first time.

This, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be the three reasons I will be buying a 3DS. I want all three badly.

I think I'm probably gonna go with Fennekin.

I actually quite like these compared to what we were given in the 5th generation.

I just hope we don't get 50 bajillion legendaries..though that seems unlikely that we won't, they seem to increase them exponentially every generation.

Girl what you talking 'bout? Smugleaf was amazing. And yeah it does seem kinda strange that 'legendary' pokemon are starting to become more common than run of the mill pokemon. =P

I didn't like the new pokemon games because they had nothing fresh to them, they were recycling the same and I couldn't even finish Black.

Seems like I'm getting this one, however.

After some dissection of their names, I personally doubt that Fennekin will be a Fire/Fighting type. *gasp*

Fennekin= Fennec+Kinesis

I'd bet cash money it will be a Fire/Psychic dual typing, which would be pretty awesome tbh. I can't think of any others that share the same type, but then again I don't remember most of generation V's pokémon
