I am really disappointed in those starter Pokemon. Seriously, the last time I was impressed by any of the starter pokemon was back in the Silver/Gold days.

I was leaning towards Fennekin at first but now that I've seen the final evolution's I guess I'm going to have to go go with Froakie, he seems to have the most consistent design.

I've never had a problem with the bipedal thing before, but theres something seriously creepy about Fennekin's final evolution. Imagine meeting that in a dark alley.  I'm just glad it got leaked, I would have gone for Fennekin, only for that thing to emerge somewhere down the line.

That said, I remain consistently impressed by the other new designs. I can only pick out five or six I actually don't like from the complete list thus far.

The reason why Delphox looks odd to many is likely it's head. Look at the head in comparison to the rest of its body, it looks crazy small.

As for there being a third version (Z?) it's just as likely now for there to be direct sequels like Black2/White2, and considering how many seem to consider B2/W2 to be the best pair of games in the franchise (though that also could just be in comparison to Black/White) Ninty might be more inclined to follow up on that instead, and honestly I'd be down with an X2/Y2. It'd be better than a Pokemon Z in fact, because it'd consist of more than just the exact same games with a few things switched around and added. It'd be a continuation of the story, and considering that the stories have gradually gotten bigger and more developed over the generations that would only be a good thing.

Of course, with this Gen being on the 3DS that opens the gates to SpotPass content and paid DLC, so who knows how it'll be done?

I've read that you'll be offered the original starters somewhat early on in the game. If I don't ditch my X/Y starter immediately, I'm definitely doing it then.

The games professor gives you the Gen 1 Starter, whereas a friend of the Trainer gives you the 6th Gen starter. I assume you get the former fairly shortly after the you get the latter. Think I'll be going Froakie/Charmander.

Am I the only one here who likes Delphox? I think it looks the coolest out of all of them. Plus, it's a fire/psychic type which is a first, excluding Vicntini who was a legendary and couldn't be obtained through normal means.

Fennekin and charmander are going to be my first 2 starters. I don't mind having same type pokemon in my team so long as they have another type that adds something to the party.

There's also the Torchic event which should be up around the release as well. It has it's hidden ability Speed Boost and comes with the Blazikenite which it needs to Mega-evolve.

Their are only 70(ish) new pokemon. I'm not sure how true this leak is but it's still interesting none the less. the new pokemon seem pretty legit.

Yes. Depending on what version you get, you'll either get the X stone or the Y stone and some pokemon will evolve into different forms depending on which stone you use on them.

Supposedly, you get another of the Gen 6 starters after you beat the game (whichever one is weak to yours). Not entirely sure though, that's what I've seen on the forums at Gamefaqs.

Grew up with Pokemon, the anime, the cards and all that jazz, but I never had a Gameboy to play the games on. My parents didn't seem too fond of video games, so I bought my own stuff when I was older.
