The gameplay has definitely improved however the art style and new Pokémon designs are pretty ****.Naughty Bear wrote...
God, I haven't played Pokemon in years. How is the series going? Getting batter or stale?

It's usually something people who are nostalgic about gen I says, I have no idea if this is the case of GodWood, but generally the Pokémon hasn't faltered in my opinion.Skelter192 wrote...

Too often people dismiss criticism of the new Pokémon designs with claims of 'nostalgia' despite there being a distinct aesthetic change from generation three onwards.Knight of Dane wrote...

Yeah, the metal orb with magnets and the brown penis-Pokémon sticking put of the ground were totally more animal like.GodWood wrote...

Designs in generations one and two were much more simple, softer and/or more 'animal' like. Generation three onwards however favoured more blocky, sharp and complex designs. Now obviously there's some silly designs in generation one and two and some decent designs in the later generations however overall I prefer the earlier aesthetic.
I am very nostalgic about Gen one, (and 2 in part) nothing will ever compare to Charizard for me, but that doesn't mean I have to dislike th enew Pokémon.Skelter192 wrote...

The new Pokémon designs are pretty great though. I'm not nostalgic about Gen 1 hell there is a lot of **** in gen 1.

Not to mention the Pokéball pokémon.
No, perhaps there was a change, but it has never been for the worse.

It all abounds in taste.
They are the perfect example of what I dislike about new Pokémon. They're blocky, angular, needlessly complex and look like nothing.I don't see anything wrong in any of your examples. Mewtwo is just as obscure as any of those in the bottom picture.
Need I quote myself a second time.Besides, there is also Shaymin, it looks like a Hedgehog alright.
This makes absolutely no sense. My point is that there are good and worse in all generations. ****ing about the new generations discredits the old ones too.

I'm sorry but nothing can beat a lvl99 Cyndocril's last transformation. Tyranasaur? That was a beast.

What this discussion is about is the fact that one's preferences for the older generations is not rooted in 'nostalgia' but actual aesthetic appreciation for the original style. They are the perfect example of what I dislike about new Pokémon. They're blocky, angular, needlessly complex and look like nothing.I don't see anything wrong in any of your examples. Mewtwo is just as obscure as any of those in the bottom picture.
Mewtwo on the other hand is a perfect example of what I liked about the original aesthetics; simple, two-colour design, appearance gives insight to its bio-tech origins all the while still looking like an animal.Need I quote myself a second time.Besides, there is also Shaymin, it looks like a Hedgehog alright.
This makes absolutely no sense. My point is that there are good and worse in all generations. ****ing about the new generations discredits the old ones too.
Obviously there is good and bad in all generations however OVERALL I find the earlier aesthetics more preferable than the later ones.
