Maybe one of the programmers played the games as a kid and still has nightmares of Brock from Gen 1?

I mean fire/fighting is a great type, just 3 times in a row was a bit much.

Fire/Dark sure I can see that. It means a Water/Fighting starter I guess, and that would be cool too 

Fire/Ice? I can't see them doing that on a starter.

I went for froakie and charmander.
The last generation that had good starters for me was the second, all the others always had horrible final forms.
But this one, i actually really like Froakies final form, its quite badass.

FIRE CITY Fennekin/Charmander/Special Event Torchic

I always went with the fire types anyway, back when they rocked and didn't look like crap.

I've also always loved Charmander/Zard.

Fennekin is a extremely excellent modest starter (if you can get it) since it's both psychic and fire, which is usually modest.
Though I chose Froakie because it turns dark, immunity to psychic.

Charizard is a good starter in itself, immunity to ground which is super effective to fire normally.

I thought third gen was "decent" in final form. Sinnoh never meant a lot with me, I wasn't as impressed but didn't dislike the designs. I though that Samurott was really cool in the Unova starters and had no opinion on the other two.

I think this generation is okay. Greninja is really cool, Delphox is okay and I am not too keen on Chesnaught. (Really, a chestnut that's a juggenaugght?)

I just defeated the Lumiose gym but I'm feeling like I want to start over and build an all Eevee evolution team since you can catch them relatively early.

This always happens to me...every time I get far in Skyrim I get side tracked by thoughts of other characters. At least in Skyrim you can have multiple saves. Why is GameFreak such jerks about allowing move than one save?

Besides my main party of Charizard, Greninja, Pangoro, Malamar, Tyrantrum and Scolipede I am also working on raising a Gyarados, Manectric and a Glaceon.

I also plan on raising Gible, Trapinch, Axew, Bagon, Deino, Dratini etc.

Supposedly you don't get an absolite until post-game.

I don't mind handing one over in exchange for something very specific, should I find it before anyone else hands it you. I just keep my Absol for the Pokedex

Hah, I just need the item. I can catch my own Absol, no worries. I just hate when there's the post-game unlock stuff, but there isn't a real big part of the post-game I enjoy doing.

I wish it was like before where you got the eight badges from Johto and then went to Kanto and repeated the process there.

I don't like switching out Pokemon.  It's the same thing as in BioWare games with companions.  The story feels stronger to me if I travel with the same team for most of the game.

I didn't know you couldn't get Absolite until after you complete the game.  I was using an Absol just for that reason.  That's pretty disappointing.

I'm thinking of trading in The Last of Us and Black2 for X so I can have two play throughs going at once.

There is a huge gap between gym 1 and 2 and a bit to 3, seriously. I had two pokemon at level 40 when I got to gym 2 and the rest were around 30. I switch around my party a lot this game.

I just beat the grass gym, which I beleive is number four and all my main party is level 40+ except for Scolipede whom have been out since gym 2 because I trainerd other Pokémon. He's 36 though.

And I wasn't talking about catching you a Absol, but I'll let you know if I find a Absolite at some point and you can tell me if you still want it. I'd just like a female Squirtle.
