How in the hell I only just managed to realise this is beyond me, but the fully evolved Kalos starters have a dual type triangle. The obvious one is >Grass>Water>Fire>, but also >Fighting>Dark>Psychic>. Can't believe I didn't notice until now.

So I've been reading up on the Nuzlocke Challenge as a way to increase the difficulty of the game. It looks interesting, but I have two major qualms with it:

I don't like limiting what Pokemon I use. To me, I need to be able to min/max my character (or team, in this case) to the fullest extent to have fun. Any additional, player-made challenges need to find ways of increasing the difficulty other than gimping my character. I also don't like perma-death. I play a lot while watching TV or just generally not paying full attention to the game. I don't want to lose my favorite Pokemon entirely because of a small slip up.

Since those things are pretty integral to the challenge, I think Nuzlocke is out for me. This is the rule set that I'll be trying on my next play through. It's emphasis is on not limiting what Pokemon you can use, unlike most challenges, and limiting how much experience and healing your team gets:

1. You must use the "Set" battle type instead of "Switch."

2. You cannot use any items that increase or share experience.

3. You may carry only five of any one battle item (potions, status heals, etc.) at a time. Items are differentiated by name, so if you wanted to, you could stock up on 5 Potion, 5 Super Potion, 5 Hyper Potion, 5 Max Potion, and 5 Full Restore.

4. You must run from every wild Pokemon that you do not intend to catch (except for Pokemon that prevent you from running, obviously).

5. You may catch only one Pokemon of each name.

6. You cannot run from random Horde Battles. You are surrounded! Fight for your life! You cannot use Sweet Scent to summon Horde Battles. You may use Honey.

7. Pokemon Centers cost $X for every badge you have acquired. To pay this fee, simply buy items of equal value and then discard them. You may use a Pokemon Center for free once immediately after you've defeated a Gym Leader. You may use other NPC healers once immediately as you first encounter them.

8. To defeat a gym, you must be able to defeat every trainer in that gym plus the Gym Leader in one sitting. You must save before attempting the gym and re-load if you are defeated until such a time as you can complete the gym in one pass.

9. You are otherwise not allowed to re-load a save to recover from a loss. Re-loading saves for miscellaneous things like Nature hunting and whatnot is allowed.

10. Blacking out costs $Y for every Badge you have. If you cannot afford the bill, you can consider this either Game Over, or take pity on yourself for hitting rock bottom and just keep playing.

Monetary values have yet to be determined.

Well, I think I will use the PokeBank, I found a gift card I haven't used, and I have enough on there for 4 years of the service.

Anybody know if I'd be able to send some of my "mons into that system, and recover them later in a new play through?

I wonder if that means you can relearn moves that the mon hasn't learned yet. Which really means its less of a move relearner and more of a move learner.

Nah, it just seems to be the odd exception. If you look at Greninja and Gardevoirs level move list on the XY Pokedex at Serebii you'll see Night Slash and Moonblast are listed twice.

On another note, I noticed something. Dazzling Gleam is weaker than Moonblast, and it also doesn't lower the enemies Sp Atk like Moonblast, yet it has less max PP. What's up with that? Am I missing something? They also both have 100 accuracy.

Yeah, Dazzling Gleam kind of disappoints me.  I feel like it should do something beyond damage. It should lower accuracy based on the name alone.  An added chance to flinch the opponent would be awesome as well, due to the opponent mon not being able to handle the awesome brightness.

There should be a fusion system in this game so I can create an army of eldritch abominations. Then I'd jump ship from Shin Megami Tensei 4.

In all seriousness, I haven't played a Pokemon game since Silver. For a pretty consistent series, how much of a leap from then?

What do you mean by a leap? I'm in the same boat, haven't played since Silver. But I got Y and it's pretty nice.

I guess in terms of how many Pokemon but even then that's a stupid question. I might be compelled to buy it since I remember a couple of friends playing.

I read about it the other day too.

I just thought it seemed flipping boring.

The patch is available now. Just go onto the 3DS eShop and it should tell you that one of your games has an update.

I guess Zoroark must be easier to find in X/Y because I just caught one in a Luxury Ball in the Pokémon Village.

HA

Gonna have to bank that for later in case they add a mega evolution for it in later gens

The Pokemon-Amie games I have a love-hate relationship with.

The Berry Picker game I have an easy enough time until hard mode, barely managed to get to Unlimited, 5 star it on the first try.

The Puzzle game I have 5 star on every level but Unlimited, where I have 2

Head It is my absolute bane, with 2 stars on Easy

Oh, I'll through this up here

Good grief. There's a way to find shinies. Maybe, just maybe, I'll finally catch one.

Seriously, thanks for posting that.

Funny, I have trouble with the Puzzle game, Berry Picker I'm pretty average with, and Head it? My best is like 1162.

Thats a lot of work for shiny hunting. Good luck if anyone goes for it, I likely won't.

Speaking of the Elite Four, I'm currently on Victory Road. My whole team is in the mid 70's low 80's so why not

I'm making my way up victory road too, though with mid 60's  and two of my heavy hitters replaced by HM slaves, its taking a while. Going through hyper potions like there's no tomorrow.

Also, I cant stop listening to that remake of the Jubilife city theme that gets played in Snowbelle city. Jazzy.

What's really nice is that someone in the building for the Elite 4 tells you before you go in what typing they use.

The Champion does not use a specific typing however, so watch out for that.
