What do you all do to get 70+ hours in a single playthrough, just read every codex? I feel I am missing a lot, but I know I'm not, makes me paranoid.

Anyway, first playthrough was 57 hours and I missed a lot of stuff.
Second playthrough was 50 hours and I did dang near everything.
Third playthrough was 43 hours and I did EVERYTHING except crows quests and rogue specific quests in Denerim.

And all that time is including my pause breaks (almost every hour) to have a smoke, and a couple times where I left it paused for an hour or so for dinner/cleaning/distraction related things.

I'm confused as to how people can go through in less than 45 or so hours and still maintain they did all the quests. In my first play through the game, I didn't fully read the Codex entries. I just glanced at them very briefly. I did all the side quests I could find though. But I didn't leave the game paused for more than a couple minutes. If I was going to be away from the computer for longer than that, I shut the game down.

Second play through was slightly shorter, but I did read all the Codex entries on that one.

Hmm interesting. Yeah I can say I am positive I did pretty much everything because I look through the collector's game guide at all the quests, and there are only 4-5 things I skipped (ala, Crows, Rogue stuff - because I didn't have stealth or stealing-). And on my third playthrough (at 43 hours) I got all my companions to 'friend' except one (Oghren, I can never get him that high, but I always get him last). Plus I do all the DLC's, but I don't read all the codexes when they come up, I usually do that towards the end.

But I have always been considered a player akin to a gerbil on crack, I can play very fast, I'm rarely sitting still. I can look at a situation and usually analyze it very quickly. But I don't think that would account for 20+ hour differences. So yeah, kind of paranoid.

Maximum length for a play through has been 98 hours. Minimum 72. There were two other complete runs in the middle at around 88 and 82 hours, and then there's my current character, who's only logged in 11 so far.

For me, that's a lot of hours, even if it's the only game I've played since it was released. Oh, and I haven't even touched any of the DLC yet. S'pose I ought to at least get around to Shale, since it is free an' all. Even moreso since I find my interest beginning to wane, although I find that usually happens with me whenever I play opposite gender characters. Still a couple mage-types I'd like to putter around with, though.

Well, I don't know and I don't want to know... Suffice to say, thank goodness my husband and son like watching me play! And thank goodness for fast food and delivery! LOL

That's the key right there. I can play faster than I do, but I almost always end up taking my time., I often like to stop and see if there's another way to resolve a situation other than what first jumps out to me as the obvious way. That includes diaolog options, combat scenarios, and quests. So that will likely add a number of hours by the end. No need to be paranoid though, you're just a fast player, methinks.

I highly recommend it. Not only is there the specific DLC area/adventure where you pick up Shale, but the golem has a number of (IMO) very cool (and sometimes hilarious) party banter scenarios as well as a separate quest built around it. Well worth checking out.

*nods* Have been meaning to for a month or two now, but when it comes right down to it, this DLC falls pretty much into line with virtually all DLC for me: cheap enough to make me think it's worth the price of admission, but not quite big enough relative to the overall game to really bother with. And the in-game adverts have, I think, actually proven to be more of a disincentive for me than the opposite.

It being free helps.. but evidently not quite enough. I suspect I'm just odd that way, especially considering how much I like this bloody, bloody game. Still, at least I've got something to look forward to. Bright side to everything, there is.

No in-game adverts for Shale though is there? That's really only for Warden's Keep so far, I thought. (I don't know for sure, as I enabled Shale before even starting my first run). And as I noted earlier, this one gives you much more than just the initial bang where you pick Shale up. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to check it out.

I have been playing this game far too much since the day of release. I've taken a day or three off here and there but I've basically played it to the exclusion of all other games ever since. Currently completing my 3rd full playthrough, after which I will probably take a longer break. I have one or two other characters I'd like to finish before Awakenings comes out, but my New Year's resolution was to finish my novel before my birthday in April so... something's gotta give!!

I would say for myself about 48 hours worth. For my boyfriend, haha, literally from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep. I call him "cracky the clown" since he is addicted to this game.

I've been pulling some accidental all-nighters since I bought the game. I get off work a little after midnight and if I don't keep my phone right beside me (no clock in my bedroom) then I get so sucked into the story that it's literally 6 a.m. before I know it, lol.

I also see this having a lot of replay value for me (though hopefully in more moderation :P) so who knows?

Just Felix de Grosbois in the Sulcher's Pass area, and the associate "quest" under the premium content headng, should one go to that area and activate it.  I find that one easier to ignore than the guy in camp with the exclamation mark floating above his head, but it's still there, this big golden area marker sitting on my map that I KNOW I shouldn't visit.

Heh.  Am certain that I will check them both out someday, though.  Am also certain that I'll enjoy them when I do.  For now, though, I find that I prefer to block out the adverts for the things that I don't have... avoid them like the plague, as it were.  I suppose it's just the completionist in me, but I really hate having quests in my journal that I can't actaully accomplish.

Gettin' a little far afield for the topic, though.  Point is, this game has sucked back more of my life than any game since BG2.

81:07:25 for my first play-through when it was first released. I've since pushed the game aside waiting for the new DLC & Awakening. I'll probably play ME2 before diving back into DA:O with its DLC/expansion.

For me something between 300-400 hours (counting DLC as well). Finished with 3 characters (and 2 or 3 discontinued, not happy with choices I made and how the way they looked). What feels like just 30 minutes of play suddenly turns out to be multiplied by 10 when I take a quick peek at the clock.

I have no idea honestly. Time flies when you're having fun.

But I've played through all the characters once so it's mostly just messing around with mods and cheating away now.

I had over 100 hours on my first playthrough - i do love micromanaging my party though and I explored a lot of dialougue options and got my easily sidetracked opened way before I thought I would.

tried 2 other origins but stopped and I am now on my second characters. funny enough I cant bring myself to go down too much evil route and have so far made a lot of similar choices as my first playthrough but as i have different party set up it doesnt feel repetative

150 hours, plan to play much more still.  In terms of playthroughs I've only completed my first one, as my second one suffered a major gamebreaking bug caused by the toolset.  my third one is 2/3rds of the way done.  I got a few misc characters that have got a little past Lothering too.

In order to get the full experience of the story you have to take your time with it. Thats were the 100+ hours of game play comes in.

65 hours my first playthrough.  At 25 on my second playthrough right now and I'm guessing I've got at least another 60 at this point as I'm very much following every quest lead I can find this round.

Finished my first play through yesterday at 64 hours. I'm starting up playthrough number two tonight, and I've already got three other characters I want to try and have finished in time for the expansion. This will easily be the most I've played a game since Oblivion.
