This is my first time posting on the BG forums of this site, but here is the set up.

Ive played BG many times in the past, but this is a challenge ive always wanted to attempt, using only wizards and a whole team of 6 no less to beat the game (note: this is not a no death challenge, in fact i expect much dying, saving, and restarting especially early game) I have no idea if this is an easy challenge or a hard one but a normal BG run for me is myself as a ranger and a good mix of a team which varies play to play.

Me - Abjurer lvl1 (10STR, 10DEX, 18CON, 18INT, 15WIS, 18CHR)
Xzar - Necromancer lvl1
Montaron - After he and Xzar joined the party, my team immediately killed him (what with him being evil and all :P) and left his body on the side of the road
Imoen - Brief guard through Friendly Arm Inn, left her at the Inn with Jahera and Khalid

For now we travel as 2 moving to aquire my other 4 wizard members (Dynaheir, Edwin, Xan, and Neera is the plan)

Dynaheir & Edwin don't play well together.

Cool idea. I don't have BG1 installed and probably never will again, but it sounds interesting. As always, it will make some fights trivial, and others really hard. glitterdust, 2x sleeps, web, grease, and stinking cloud all cast simultaneously should knock out most low level enemies, and then you can finish them off with agannazar's scorcher and darts. Until you get your full group of 6, sleep is your best bet because it's only level 1, and enemies have to save at -3.

I soloed a Mage/thief through BG1, and he was really powerful. Pure mages will be tougher, and you may struggle with traps, but it should be perfectly doable.

Regarding Dynaheir/Edwin, you could install the happy patch? Given you're using Neera (wild mage romance mod) you must have either easytutu or BGT, so that's OK. Alternatively, you could dual class Imoen to mage at level 2, find another caster mod, take a bard (Garrick or Eldoth), or Quayle (cleric/illusionist).

I played with the idea of  dueling Imoen into a mage, but i decided, if I want a challenge I might as well go all out lol same with Quale and Garrick.

As for Mods Im playing EE on my ipad (very strange getting used to playing on a touch screen and can be alittle buggy at times but is working quite well since I can play at work :P) so no mods for me.

Ive read that at some point Dynaheir/Edwin will fight, but ive noticed something, if Dynaheir dies in my party (from an enemy) edwin gives his speech 'glad shes dead now you get my wizard powers for a year' is this a loophole of some kind to make him think she is dead even if I bring her back? (false hopes im sure :P ) worst case, they end up fighting and one dies, ill have to end up with Quale instead as he is the closest thing to a full mage in the list.

UPDATE:
My team is now in the Nashkel area, after getting to the friendly arm inn Xzar and I went south and found Neera in Beregost (I actually had no idea she was there when I happened upon here lol) with our team of 3 we traveled south useing ALOT of saves and rests for magic, and reloads until we made it through the gnoll stronghold with Dynaheir. Afterwords Edwin joined to 'keep an eye on her' lets hope my 18CHA helps this out even though its probably futile. Now with a team of 5, we travel some of the easier areas searching to get everyone to at least level 2 before entering the mines (Note: when Edwin becomes lvl2 ill be only a couple hundred from lvl3)

Me - lvl2 Abjurer
Xzar - lvl2 Necromancer (currently dead, leaving him that way for a little bit to help the other mages catch up lol)
Neera - lvl1 Wild Mage
Dynaheir - lvl1 Invoker
Edwin - lvl1 Conjurer

Update: The full team

After a quite treacherous trip my team made it into and through the mines, ive found many downsides to the all mage team (at least in low levels) but the mines are the first place ive encountered my biggest problem - Traps. i just had to soak any trap i came across with usually my leader (as with my 18con he has the highest health) and hope he didnt die. We finally picked up Xan right before the final battle, so far so good. the final boss in the mines actually went down pretty quickly with a nice barrage of magic for 2 rounds to take him out after putting the kobalds to sleep. Now my full team of 6 are ready for the real adventure to start, we will take care of the outlying areas until I feel we are ready for the next challenge - bandits.

Team:
Me - lvl3 Abjurer
Xar - lvl2 Necromancer
Neera - lvl2 Wild Mage
Dynaheir - lvl2 Invoker
Edwin - lvl2 Conjurer
Xan - lvl2 Enchanter

Nate:

You probably knew this, but just in case if not, mirror images help with a lot of kinds of traps and definitely with the ones in the Mines. I might have delayed going to the mines until level 3, but see you already did it. MGoI will help a lot with MM traps, but that's quite a ways a way for your group...

6 wizards is a lot of micro-managing, but good luck. I know a player did a berserker/5 mages and completed everything in the game I think, including TotSC areas. But you don't have a berserker friend so should prove interesting.

This particular theme is similar to one I started years ago, which was 6 man party of any class/kit (e.g., 6 fighters (could be kits), 6 paladins (my favorite), etc.). Once your team gets to level 5, should be much easier (3 orbs with MM, fireball/skull trap). Web should be extremely useful for your team, especially for enemy ranged attackers, your party's bane.

You said it @ ranged attackers. before going into the mines I had a specific incident, I rested outside, monsters appeared, 9 kobolts, before I could even hit pause 3 of my wizards were dead from the arrows :P (this was when I had a team of lvl1 and lvl2 mixes mind you). But so far Web has been a god send, when I come across a tough fight, i normally web/sleep combo from two wizards while the rest spam Larloch's Minor Drain or Magic Missle. Good to know @ mirror images, ill keep that in mind for future trap heavy missions. Also to help on that front, I summoned a familiar (never done this before, and in fact didnt even know I could as Ive never really used mages in BG for more then DPS) and being true neutral, I got a rabbit, for a while I was just happy for the HP boost, but I recently realzed, my bunny can check for traps:devil:

Update:
We are on to the bandits now! Hired to hunt them down, but first my team is taking care of clearing out all the states I visited but didnt fully explore now that I have access to lvl2 spells im better equiped for it. All my people now have +1 weapons (3 with staffs, 2 with knives, and Xan with his flaming sword of awesome.) We will clear out the south, get to at least level 4 if not 5 before heading into the Arrow heavy Bandit areas

Team:
Me: lvl3 Abjurer
Xan: lvl3 Enchanter
Neera: lvl3 Wild Mage
Xzar: lvl3 Necromancer
Edwin: lvl3 Conjurer
Dynaheir: lvl3 Invoker

Update: Gearing up for bandit season

My team is progressing nicely, so far no drama between Edwin and Dynaheir (though I get some good back and forth between her and Xzar sometimes) The team has been hitting every area in the south, skipping only Durlags tower, Firewine Bridge, and Ulcaster (and on the west coast the lighthouse) After fighting with the basilisks, the team is now a high enough level I feel to take on the bandits, and that is our next destination!

Me: lvl5 Abjurer
Xan: lvl5 Enchanter
Neera: lvl5 Wild Mage
Xzar: lvl5 Necromancer
Edwin: lvl5 Conjurer
Dynaheir: lvl5 Invoker

I tried a four-man all-Wizard party with PC characters one time, I think as a no-reload attempt. It actually went pretty well to start, because between a team of four you can have several Sleeps and other spells per day, and there's a lot less need to worry about enemy saves. Killing everything with darts can take a while, though...

Interesting concept. Any reloads yet? I'd have a problem with the conflicting alignments if I tried to do this.

Looks like Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evil, Chaotic Neutral, Chaotic Evil. Wow! Definately should be some fireworks, even w/o the Banters Mod.

Things have gone quiet here. Was wondering if you had an update or whether you had given up.
