i don't get it, some hate it and some claim bioware just made them as a joke. however its clear people really understimate this little chubby guy!!

you may look to his health and shields and feel "meh just too weak, not worthed" but if you use the vanguard you can make what looks like a meatball into a flying cannon ball :D

biotic orbs - may be weak and take 2-3 for normal enemy but its very handy for bosses since it stuns them
biotic charge - well same as others (useful but nothing new)
shields boost - your lifeline and very handy, if maxed you can boost your nearby teammates and make them 50% damage imune for few seconds
light melee - its funny but volus doesn't use light melee but instead you've cloacking by wich is cooldown free, with some basic skills you can have cloaking the whole time :D

this all said, use reegar carbine and became a deadly biotic god!! if you want add more reasons or praise the mighy volus, leave a comment :D

Who hates Volus? Just "lore" people right? I like having one on the team to rez people and boost shields. I've only played one or two matches as a Volus, but I want to do some more after I finish weapon challenges.

I had a couple gold games with each person using a different volus class, those were probably the most fun, and possibly easiest games I have had in a while. the game afterward when we stopped using volus, went much less smoothly and we had the same team.

Most of the voluses I have come across in gold pugs, spam SB like anything - thereby bugging my kit most of the time. I stay away from volus adepts and volus engineers. The other volus is pretty nice, lots of powers to keep the mooks distracted.

You stay away from Volus Engineers? You've apparently never played with a good one (i.e. one that doesn't just spam Shield Boost). They're no Drellfiltrators, but they can still mess things up pretty well for ya.

Not saying I'm great with him or anything, but if you play agressively enough you can do some serious damage.

I've carried Gold waves with a Scorpion X-toting Volus Engineer. Not going to receive any speed medals but one of the more relatively safe builds there is for it, IMO.

Volus engineers are a good class.  Volus adept is the worst caster in the game. :crying:

The Volus merc's pets need to be unnerfed.  I've not played the Volus vanguard yet.

The biggest thing about playing the Volus is having the right mindset. While I can kill stuff, mostly I'm in a support role. Stasis bubble to set up mooks for slaughter, orbs to weaken bosses.  Recon mine for debuffing baddies, proximity mine for killing mooks.  Because of the overall decoy nerf, not much value there, but the drone is not too bad (still needs a buff).  I like to carry a ranged weapon to shoot from a distance, plus something for close in, to quickly take care of mooks that get in my face.

I use cloak pretty much everywhere I go. When I have to take cover, I finally learned to use the bubble. I revive teammates and give them a boost. If someone is taking on a big critter, I can help keep them in the fight by boosting their shields (I don't spam shield boost because of the weapon/power glitch, but I use it when it seems appropriate for the situation).

I play my Volus like I am a coward (or solo), which perhaps is what the Volus must be, since they have such low shields and health. As some have said, they love having a Volus on the team, but a lot of folks don't like playing one. You just have to accept that, with rare exception, you are not going to score as high with your Volus.

If you don't care about the score, then the biggest downside I see is not being able to do a "grab" when playing one of the little round critters. But I love the fact that I don't have to worry about magnetic cover. So perhaps it all balances out.

Honestly, I played four games with a guy last night who was a Volus. Don't know which class. Quite frankly, grew attached to the little guy.

They're not too shabby.

Nothing wrong with volus (besides shield boost glitch). Most pugs just think their job is sit there and spam shield boost when they should be packing some firepower.

I had a huge laugh the first time I played as him, because he was so petty to the point where it was awesome.

Also, he can cloak and generate shields. AT THE SAME TIME. What's not to love?

Most people who play as the Volus just stand behind you and glitch you into oblivion with shield boost spam. Then they defend that the fact that they're only supposed to have 10k points at the end of the match.

Besides that, they rock my socks.

I love the volus! Fun to play but you have to get used to it-- environment is bigger, LOS issues, can`t jump over walls, but also there are bonuses in that enemies have a harder time hitting you (especially phantoms with their executions!). It takes a LOT of getting used to but if you do, its a blast.

I love the Volus, but haven't played enough to be good with them, which make them a hard choice for pug games, until I know that I've got a good group.

i must say i always have a laugh when messing around with atlas and scions xD hide and seek, get cloaked and behind unleash your reegar, since they're slow to turn around, cloak again and get again behind xD do it a couple times and it cant be more easy to take bosses like a boss xD

i don't spam shield boost i find the cloak as the best thing on the vanguard, and trolling around cerberus-geth-reapers-collectors wich have no clue of what is going on except for being melted by a invisible "thing" nearby xD

Huh? I don't hate the Volus at all.

I do hate Volus players who do not effectively support the team.

Bioware need to fix the shield boost glitch. At the moment having a Volus near you is cause for concern.

I love surprizing people with my Volus Mercenary and toping scores with a Particle Riffle X on Gold :D and when they are complaining that phantoms are owning them on platinum here I come to the rescue and tank 2-3 Phantoms and a couple of hunters back to back at the same time and rip them appart <3 Decoy + Stunbot!

" 'lore' " people. Ironic, seeing as everyone's in powersuits, but the Volus can't because they said so, and they know the lore better than BioWare.

At least half of the times I'm in a game with a Volus, at some point my character contracts the "can't do anything" shield boost disease. Melee to cure it doesn't ever work for me, always have to wait it out. I spend a good portion of the game purposely avoiding them. The shield boosting isn't worth potentially getting locked out.
