If you can stay on your feet and use equipment when necessary it doesn't matter to me.

I generally don't like it when I score 4th, but not for the reasons you think. I'm generally a competitive person in general, and while I may not like it, whenever someone I was outscoring starts to creep up on me in points. Some competitive instinct in me starts to come out a bit, not consciously though. I'm trying to get myself to be less competitive, but I'm nowhere near wanting to get rid of that instinct completely, since as they say, a little friendly competition is good. I may get competitive but never to much, I'll never flip my s**t and rage, I'll always say good game, but in the back of my mind theses some instinct that just keeps driving me to try for 1st place. If I dont get it I feel fine, but during the game it will defintly make me try harder, which puts me in the top of my game. So as long as my competitiveness doesn't make me angry or do anything like screwing teammates others for points, I'm completely fine with saying I don't like getting in fourth place.

I come in fourth 50% of the time, and my N7 fury does the most kills on the battlefield most of the time, yet I only get 3 medals on average as I don't do fancy kills meaning no "10 head-shots +10000" or "10 biotic kills +5000"'s for me. Just good ol' annihilation shield and melee/n7 paladin then "POOF!" on to my next victim like Nightcrawler on a violent bender...

I try not to, but sometimes I'm playing with good people and it happens.

Other times I play with really, really good people, and its inevitable lol.

This. Whenever I go from pugging it to playing with friend I essentially have to resign myself to not be guarenteed 1st. What really gets me though is that I look like a **** pug when playing with friends. Its frustrating because I don`t like to be carried, I`d just as soon pull my own wieght.Image IPB

If you play with Jay you won't feel bad coming in 4th, since 2nd and 3rd won't be far away from you.

It really doesn't matter for me. If I'm playing random I don't care what level the players are..... Both challenge n n7 levels. I've played many games where I came in 1st - 4th. And in those games I've had ppl play great support roles with low score. Of course I had ppl come in 1st place that also had great support roles. My gripe is with ppl that come in 1st or last that don't revive team mates, equip consumables on gold plat difficulty, don't use medi or rocket when they clearly can-- that's another topic for another day. I ran across ppl that just play on gold plat just so they can lvl up quickly without supporting the team-- those need to get kicked in the head.. With a normal gameplay at the end of the day if ur having fun that's all it matters. Just support the team the best u can n I will never fault u or try to kick u from the game even if u come in last place x 10

When the other players have several times as many challenge/N7 points as I do, I don't mind them leaving me in the dust. They have far better gear and more experience, of course they are going to get more points.
In those case, as long as I revived more often than I got revived, I know that I didn't hamper them (unless I am playing on a higher difficulty than usual and have very low point total).

But when the other player have a similar or inferior level of noticeable experience than I do ... I get more touchy about rank. Once I was with 3 such PUGers and I was appaled to see that i ended up last. That is, until I noticed that my score was within ~2 Geth Hunters worth of points of the #1.

And if I play a support classd (Geth Engineer with a defensive turret focusing on staggering 3 opponents for my team and staying out of the line of fire to rez teammates when they need it, for example). I don't mind being last, even if there's a gap between me and the rest of the team who is at the same level.

And if I did more objective than anyone else (or even the entire team, like when I doo all 3 Hacks with no help whatsoever) I don't mind being last, I know I helped.

If I saved the day by clutching a wave, I don't mind being last, without me they'd have wiped.

If my infiltrator spent more time running under cloak to rez teammmates than firing at enemies, I don't mind being last.

So if I have something tangible that tells me that my low score is to be expected or that I know I helped significantly, I don't let it bother me.
Other wise it is time to put down the controller, think back about the game, and try to see what I did wrong.

I usually find that most games end with me in either 1st or 2nd, but I really don't care too much what place I'm in. Ideally I like to be within a reasonable range of the other players. A spread like 110K to 90K for a Gold game. I've been in games where the last place is something on the order of 16K while the top was 150K or more, and you can't help but think that that last place person didn't belong.

Still someone has got to come in last. Sometimes it seems like poeple get bent out of shape coming in any spot that's not #1, which I don't understand. I'm happy to extract with a rocket/medigel leftover from pug games. Do you care what spot you're in, or if you totally outclass that bottom person?

So long as the 4th has helped with all the objectives, did revives when he could, used consumables when needed, tried to do things right, not been an ass on the mic, and things like that, I don't care even if he has 15k. It means I had to do all the killing, but it doesn't matter much. He'll learn how to kill stuff, sooner or later.

If I get angry because I was last, it certainly won't be at those who did better than me. I'll say "good game" to them and mean it ; if I'm angry it'll be at myself.

Getting angry at someone just for being good at what they do is pathetic and pointless.
Getting angry at your own failings can be a good motivation to improve yourself (it can do bad things to your mental health, though, not to be abused).

No, I don't care about score.  But sometimes it does irk me that people shoot enemies in my singularity or that I have pulled instead of shooting the enemies that are a threat.  "Kill stealing" is worse than it ever was since the challenge system came into being.

I expect to come in last, for various reasons, because of my play style:
- I use sabotage. That's points I don't get.
- I prioritise objectives, revives and distractions for team-mates
- I focus on keeping flanks clear, where possible, which means sacrificing DPS to maintain the DPS of the other three players. This strategy doesn't work if the team is spread out a lot, but if they're holding or advancing one particular location I will ward off any stragglers from the back.

I'm a relatively slow, cautious, tactical player. I'm not a liability by any means but my score is usually lower than the others. I don't mind that. I have fun and I try to make sure we finish comfortably.

I've placed enough time as first with various classes to not care when I am fourth. Sometimes I am not at the top of my game, sometimes there is lollag. Sometimes I am playing with freaking amazing players, sometimes players bring a GI with Harrier X. Sometimes I am sniping and I have a shockwave/flamer buddy on Giant Hazard and can't hit a damn thing.

So no, I don't care at all. I know I've pulled my weight, rushed to objectives, tried to rescue teammates. But come to think of it, especially in PUGs I've rarely came 4th. There is always someone in a PUG game who is just so bad that you can melee enemies with a QFE and you'll still top them.

Also this, so much this:

As long as I'm not more than 10k behind 3rd, I don't care.
I'm in it for the credits anyways, need better weapons.

But most of the time I'm 3rd.

Not if I'm with friends.

If it's a pug, then chances are I really screwed up somewhere and that will make me feel bad.

the only time it matters if you're fourth, is when you went through an entire match, chose a well-known higher tiered character with a higher tiered weapon equipped with level 3 and level 4 mods and you used all your consumables on level 11 trying your hardest not to be dead last AND YOU DIDN'T DO THE OBJECTIVES because you wanted to top the scoreboard. this is the only time when you come in dead last matters.

if you did all of these things but you helped with the objectives, you had a bad day. it's something we all have from time to time and no one will care.
