That is also how I judge the 4th place, be it me or not. If there isn't much of a score difference between players, it's totally cool.

But if the 4th (or worse, 3rd...) guy/girl is waaaaaaaaaay behind the other two, I tend to be a little irritated. With the exception of the guy that joined on wave 8, something I tend to see more and more often lately.

I have been doing a few gold matches with a volus. Mostly playing support. Getting gold assist medals, and silver reviving medals. I am always on the bottom of the score board. I am also always reviving team mates, doing or supporting objectives and using my medigel transmitter when I get downed next to somebody I am trying to save. Of course I am shooting the crap out of everything but I get far less kills and a far lower score. I am just wondering if people hate what I am doing, and feel I am a leech or not.

God, no. It happened to me all the bloody time when I was playing heavily.

Of course, I did often play a support build with my Quarian infiltrator.

4th when playing with friends... absolutely fine.

4th in a PuG .... generally a cause for shame.


And it's not entirely a case of character choice either; just had a game, which went badly wrong on the 1, 2, 3, 4 objective on wave 10 with the Kroguard getting synch killed by a Phantom but the final score board was something like:

Demolisher (me) : 120k
Kroguard: 65k
Fury: 60k
Demolisher (not me, obviously, but bear in mind they joined at the end of wave 1 so they were 1 wave down) : 28k

So 2 Demolishers, almost 100k difference in points... it's not like it's even a weapon based class so you can do well on skills alone (though I had a PPR X and Hurricane VI).

Bigger question is how much time the other players spent on their back waiting for revives rather than fighting.

Or even more importantly how many times did the low scoring guy save someone else from getting stomped?
I have done games of 10 + revives and been the anchorman as far as score goes. Or I have seen that low pointer carry a few waves and thus the match when it came to finishing off the round.

I like it when I come in 4th. That means the other 3 players are awesome and the match went well. Sometimes the difference between 1st and 4th is just who gets to the enemy quickest.

Mind you I am not saying I'm lazy or anything. I can hold my own. All teammates should contribute to objectives, bring good builds and revive teammates. Remember the point of the match is to get a full extraction in the quickest time possible. Sometimes you are 1st and sometimes you are 4th. I will take 4th place on a full extraction over 1st place on a failed mission any day.

You made my day... I played a gold in PUG yes in PUG! and I was 4th, with the first example score, a bit different it was more like:

1st: 120k
2nd: 110k
3rd: 100k
4th: 70k

I am not bad, but I just couldnt keep up to their killing rate. We finished in less than 20.

The game is so host dependent at times is not enough funny. Only time I feel bad being 4th is if I was hosting, or its a decent connection. Other than that if I am constantly dying due to lag issues if I get through the match, I am just glad I extracted.

The worst one is the type of lag were enemy moves at hyperspeed, and you seem to get shot at from all direction all the time that not even a krentinel will survive. I hate those matches.

So I give everyone the benefit of the doubt unless they aren't doing objectives.

Why does it matter what place your in? It's supposed to be played for fun.

But I guess the super-try-hard-to-the-max kind of player would be pretty pissed if he didn't get first place. A shame, tbh

Depends on if you were supporting or something but still helping as you could, and we all have similar scores ( within 10-15k). Fine. But if we have 150k+ and you got <30k....you have brought great shame upon this coffee house..

Does it matter? That depends on a lot of things. If everything is pretty even and we all gave our best then it's no big deal. I'll definitely use it as a benchmark to try and do better next time.

I don't really care too much about the score, I just try my best with whatever kit I'm using to make it out alive. I just use the score mainly as a tool to evaluate how much I contributed to the run.


That said; in PUGs. . . I've never come in 4th

Sometimes I come into a random map with the wrong loadout, like a sniper on Glacier or a CQC on big open map in which I can't even find the enemy or get to them before they are dead. Also sometimes you are the only one who isn't playing a spawn nuker.

Depends on the team really. I don't consider it being carried if everyone else insists on doing the heavy lifting before I even spot the enemy. You want me to kill more? Leave me something to kill then.

I don't care for score. In fact, I wish there wasn't even a scoreboard to tempt me into looking.

That said, I often top PUG boards because, well, PUGs. On the flipside, whenever I play with friends I almost always get beaten pretty hard.

I love finishing last because it means either I'm playing with Jay Hoxtatron, Stentron and sy7ar or I'm drunk as hell. Both scenarios are fun.
