To start off with the last time i saw a blue screen was in windows 95 so when i saw it i laughed at the start thinking my driver died due to a new game.

I then restarted my comp put the task manager in the secondary screen and my jaw kind of droped. The moment it started, in the title screen, CPU usage was at 100% and didn't budge from that spot. It was quite surprising too because i didn't have any fps issues and the game ran fine, so if it ran fine it should be ok right? Well no if my cpu has to go balls to the wall to run it there i somethinga little wrong.

Could it be a memory leak or, dare i say, page faults? I installed a new driver from nvidia and it seems to work a lot better, i do get the ocasional artifact but its only for a split second and when i realise it was there i forgot it realy happened because i was so engrosed by this realy ****ing awesome game (if you are offended by profanity get over it this game desereves it). I do hope that there will be an emergency hotfix soon becuase i do not want to stop playing this game for an instance

my specs are

E6600 dual core processor
8800gtx
vista 32 bit

And also if it is relevant i have 80gig left on my hard drive and vista defrags regularly soooooo i shouldn't be worried about that however in the infinite wisdom that is the D&D nerds of a bioware forum think that extra memory would help, it cant hurt but i like my current data in my HDD, then i will begrudgingly delete some of my beloved games.

Another side note, before i got the new driver, about 10 minutes in the title screen (i was waiting for the DLC to download and install) my screen turned into a checkerboard of purple and black and windows gave me a blue screen and restarted.
Hope this helps Bioware or anyone else as i know other people have had the same problem, i'll be on this forum page for the whole day (04/11/09 Australia) pretty much so any replay you post i'll respond fairly quickly.

Cheers

P.S sorry for the wall of text

I got 2 crashes so far (one was blue screen and auto reboot). Before both crashes, the screen started to flicker. I suspected my video card doesn't feel like working this hard.

I will try upgrading too.

after playing again after my gcard cooled off i have come to the decision that it is unplayable, totaly unplayable, i played two seconds, opened a vase and the thing stoped responding, turned into a checkerboard and gave me a bluescreen. it is quite infuriating as this game isn't cheap over here and i dont earn a lot of money, i hope a hotfix comes soon or a solution is released soon.

Same here, my game stopped started getting "checkboard" random coloring crap-ness, in the gauntlet location. And also i tried starting the game in minimized mode, w/o resuming the game (meaning staying in the main menu) and after 2 mins or so, i get the checkerboard... sigh...

You're not going to get much help here. Ask in DA technical support instead.

At random times during gameplay, the game just kind of "Stops working"--or so the window's error box says when it pops up.

I know my computer isn't the best, but if I'm able to run a game like Aion at low graphics will little to no lag via internet or video cards, then DA:O should be a cake walk... thoughts? I really liked this game on the xbox, but with my brother taking over the console, I traded in for the PC versions to stop the xbox wars....Now, I'm almost wishing I had just kept the xbox game = /

This is forum is for Spcial.cpm Site help, meaning the web site and forums. I recommend doing as Snoteye suggested and posting in the DA Tech Support forum.

Since this is a very old topic and is off topic for the forum; closing so it doesn't get resurected again.
