Looks pretty damn good. I hope they have Shamans available at lower levels and a Monk class.

Also more than one lord with good promoted classes, I don't want a repeat of Roy.

When I was in Japan the lines to buy it were bigger than the Vita second day sales and fairly sure the vast majority of people on the train were playing it. The only bigger launch for a single game I saw was where they closed some schools for Dragon Quest X's release.

OT, I'm a big fan of the series and the changes look good, I just hope they don't revise the difficulty too much.

I don't like Erika or Ike's models though.

I'm a bit confused on how the children thing will work, but the new promoted classes have me stoked.

There is more than one Lord in the game, I can assure you of that. Chrom is said to be decent enough anyway. No Shamans, but there is Dark Mages and Sorcerors. (As well as Dark Knight and Dark Pegasus, which are basically sword/spear wielding ground/air knights that can wield magic. Battle Monks are one of many new classes in the game, they seem to just be Priests who can fight worth a damn. They use axes and staves and are the male equivalent

Here's a full list of new and returning characters and classes. I took this from the Fire Emblem Wiki.

Returning:

Lord (promotes to Master Lord)
Master Lord
Cavalier (promotes to Paladin or Great Knight)
Paladin
Great Knight
Cleric (promotes to Battle Cleric or Sage)
Priest (promotes to Battle Monk or Sage)
Mage (promotes to Dark Knight or Sage)

General
Sage
Myrmidon (promotes to Swordmaster or Assassin)
Swordmaster
Pegasus Knight (promotes to Dark Pegasus or Falcon Knight)
Falcon Knight
Troubadour (promotes to Valkyrie or Battle Cleric)
Fighter (promotes to Hero or Warrior)
Barbarian (promotes to Warrior or Berserker)
Thief (promotes to Assassin or Trickster)
Assassin
Archer (promotes to Sniper or Bow Knight)
Bow Knight
Dragon Knight (promotes to Dragon Master or Griffon Knight)

Manakete
Villager
Dancer
Dark Mage (promotes to Dark Knight or Sorcerer)
Sorcerer
Mercenary (promotes to Hero or Bow Knight)

New:

Strategist (promotes to Grandmaster)

Battle Monk
Trickster
Taguel
Dark Pegasus
Dark Knight
Griffon Knight (This game has Griffons in it?!)
Overlord
Star Lord
Bride

Unplayable

It's also said to be the first FE to have things and characters in it that relate to other regions and stuff from other games in the series, other than being a distant sequel to FE1, 3 and to an extent 2.

Already pre-ordered. If you preorder at Gamestop/EB Games you can get a limited edition art book. Although that's not a guarantee, as when I preordered Dragon Quest IX, I didn't get my plush slime. Boo.

Yeah, I loves me some Fire Emblem. I heard my that one of my favorite characters of the series is a free spotpass download in Awakening. The odds of that were pretty good, though, as there are 120 of them. Good gravy.

I've been waiting for this game for a fire emblem game for a LONG time. One sad thing is I know I'm going to be getting all the DLC. I hope it sells well.

A demo for fire emblem is coming out Jan. 17. Very tempted to get a 3ds right now, was waiting to see if a fire emblem themed 3ds would come out.

This sounds pretty cool.

To say I'm enthusiastic about this one is a grand understatement. It's apparently the Final Fantasy IX of Fire Emblem in the sense that it has an absolute ton of references to the past games, and that was just one of many things I loved about FFIX.

Yeah, though I thought it was Spotpass, not Streetpass. Still pretty cool though. These "free DLC" characters are actually characters from past Fire Emblem games from 1 through 12, and that's about 10-15 characters a game or more to get.  I think they use the same portraits and stuff for characters from the old games too. There are a few Spotpass characters though that are original and are part of the story.

Then you have the paid DLC, which upon completion of the DLC map gets you a Lord/equally important main character from the previous games, a really nice infinite use weapon set, craptons of Gold or unique dialogue scenes between characters. Some of the newer DLC's in Japan have been story focused though and seem to be "what if" scenarios. These DLC's apparently average to around £2 each with some slight variation, and there's been two DLC "series" so far with about 10 DLC's in one, and 15 in the other. That's a hell of a lot of maps, and goodies to go with them. They all vary in difficulty too from what I've read..

Nice. I hope that's when the demo shows up in the UK too, because we don't get the game over here until April, and even then the exact day is unconfirmed. There is a FE13 3DS, though it's staying Japan only as far as I know.

Same here. Although not because of the ton of references. That helps, but a lot of them will be lost on me as a good chunk of Fire Emblem games weren't released outside Japan. I'll feel like I'm missing out on a lot.

I'm glad the real support conversations are back, unlike the mostly generic ones from RD. I replayed PoR tons of times to try to collect all the conversations. Same with Sacred Stones.

I replayed RD a bunch of times too, but mostly just to try out different units. Except Fiona, who I just couldn't get off the ground.

I also cleared a map using only Shinon just to see if it was possible. I don't know what happened to him between PoR and RD, but apparently it was something amazing.

Oh don't get me wrong that's not the main reason I'm looking forward to it, though it is a nice bonus. And yeah, Shinon in RD was Godly. Mia is pretty beast too, though I don't know about her being map solo material. The Griel Merc's parts of the game were pretty much the easiest parts. Pretty sure Fiona is considered the second worst character in the game, with the worst being Lyre. Goddamn I want to play PoR and RD again. classic supports making a return can only be a good thing.
