So where's everyone at? I'm still at chapter 17, I'm refusing to move the story forward until I recruit all the kids. I said I'd given up grinding for skills, but when a handful of levels means a kid inheriting pavise and lancebreaker instead of rally defense and deliverer... I can't help but get those skills first.

I tried to just forget about grinding, and ended up recruiting Owain...realizing I should have at least reordered Lissa's skills.

He inherited Luna from Frederick, but he got Tomefaire from his mom. Only one of his nine seventeen(!) available classes even uses tomes.

Severa got Renewal and Galeforce. That was back when I was planning ahead.

Noire stands to inherit Tomebreaker and Bowbreaker, which isn't too shabby, but the rest...

I'm never going to finish this game.

I'm at chapter 15, really want to reclass Fredrick soon, he just has fallen too far behind. Still better than most other Jeigans though.

Haven't been able to play much unfortunately only on Chapter 6. I had planned to go to the Fire Emblem event last week at the Nintendo World Store but nope blizzard happened. I wanna try some tag team duels.

I bet the fact that I'm not really using Chrom or Lucina is gonna come back to haunt me in the endgame chapters. I really should start leveling those two.

My characters are outgrowing my favorite Risen spot - Valm Harbor, Anything further along and the risen start sporting forged Killer gear, so I can't even grind safely. Occasionally one of them will sneak a counter skill past me. It's always one carrying a bow. Crafty little bugger.

Here's the rest. Not sure if there's spoilers in the comments as I never read them, but be on your guard.

I already have a 3DS but did this come with a solid release date for the game? For ages all I've heard is "April". Amazon UK doesn't even have a rough date up yet last I checked.

...if it doesn't, he's doing it wrong.

Owain just became my favorite character ever. Sure, he's spouting references from the second you meet him, but this one won me over.

Then I thought... they mention him in the game, but don't have him as a spotpass character..? Boo.

Someone dye Gerome's hair pink, give him a bow and get him drunk.

So who do you guys think is better, Lon'qu or Gaius?

Wonder if the PAL version results in further name changes for characters and stuff? That's what happened with Shadow Dragon. For example one fnthe characters was called Sheeda in the NTSC-J version, Shiida in the PAL version and Caeda in the NTSC-U version. I know the Xenologues have already been renamed Outrealm Tales.

Well hopefully Panne's son will get a better name over there. I don't know how they got "Yarne" from Shanburé/Chambray.

Well, to me, this question is asking, who is better: the guy I dumped in the barracks the second he learned astra, or the guy that has killed more risen than I can count?

Lon'qu's still a level 10 swordmaster (I do bring him out from time to time), But Gaius has been 20 Thief-15 Assassin-15 Warrior-Hero. I bet he'll stall now because he can't use bows. Happens to me every time.

Technically, they should be about the same, the only thing that differs is their third class set, Lon'qu's being the wyvern rider tree and Gaius' being the fighter tree. Do you prefer lancebreaker/swordbreaker or counter/axebreaker? For me, the level 5 skills of the wyvern classes have nothing on Sol. Everyone that's able would be learning that on my game if I had the time. Severa with just Armsthrift and Sol could block a passageway for the entire battle if she had to. She has renewal, but it's rarely needed. Sol triggers with almost every hit.

Only Chrom and Lucina have it... and I don't really use them. I'm sure it's just as tasty as it's always been though.

Well, I'm at the final chapter. After several chapters of just walking over enemies and confidently placing my colossal pegasi in the range of mages toting rexcalibur tomes, the game seemed to say to itself, "Hey, this is supposed to be hard!"

I didn't have time to complete the fight, I just wanted to see what it looked like, how it progressed. The field is so small, you're always in danger. I'm not sure if the reinforcements eventually stop, I'm guessing not.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but when I lose someone in the final battle, I don't reload.

I'm not sure if I can come out of that one unscathed.

Hard or Insanity.

Also, what's your team look like?

I was playing on hard. Although grinding made the latter half of the game a bit of a joke.

I just finished. Not counting my little looky-loo before I had to stop, I beat the final battle on the first try, no losses. In three turns. Had it lasted another turn, there would have been MASSIVE LOSSES.

My team was as follows:
Chrom - level 11 Great Knight - sat in support for my avatar.
Sarah/Avatar - level 5 Dark Flier, Valflame tome, no real decent skills to note. Dealt the final blow.
Lucina - level 18 Great Lord - did nothing, as always.
Inigo - level 5 assassin - support for Noire
Noire - Level 13 Sniper - Yewfelle, tome/bowbreaker. I love Noire.
Gaius - Level 4 Swordmaster - tanked far too many things. Had Balmung and Sol for weapons. Counter skill, Lethality seemed to trigger an awful lot.
Stahl - Level 6 Assassin - (yes, Stahl, who I had much trouble with until I handed him a bow, then he exploded) shot down a few fliers, other than that, not much.
Gerome - Level 10 Wyvern Lord -Support for Severa
Severa - Level 11 Bow Knight - Galeforce, Sol, Axebreaker. watch the enemies pile at her feet. Got a shot at the boss, critical. She's fantastic. Wish i didn't hate her so much.
Cordelia - Level 17 Falcon Knight - Galeforce, Gungnir as weapon. Got a few hits on boss due to her range of movement.
Tharja - Level 6 dark knight - support for Libra
Kellam - Level 4 Great Knight - sat like a lump, almost died. Gained a level and learned Luna!
Libra - Level 14 Sage - only healer, had a fortify staff and the goddess staff in inventory. never used them.
Morgan Level 5 hero - support for *spoiler*, sat as active character for second round, almost died.
Owain - Level 11 swordmaster - mostly support with a weak levin sword.
*spoiler* - level 10 warrior - tried not to die. Succeeded.

I mostly lumped everyone together in the center, only having my avatar and Chrom charge for the boss, with Cordelia and Severa backing them up. It was pretty much kill or be killed. You can't wait around.

According to the stats at the end, my top 3 were:
Avatar: 339 battles, 288 kills
Gaius: 378 battles, 241 kills
Cordelia: 290 battles, 208 kills.

Severa was the only one close to that, and I got her quite late in the game. I think she had 199 kills.

I think there may be two endings. No, there ARE two endings. There would have to be.

Edit: Yay, support log! Replay value!

I just got this conversation, which started me thinking. Are most conversations identical as a male avatar? They'd have to be, right? Because if not, that's a truckload of conversations I won't see for a while.

I'm fairly certain Chrom's are different with a male avatar, but the rest seemed pretty gender-neutral. Also, are the child/father conversations just slightly changed for each one? Henry certainly didn't seem like himself as he spoke to his daughter about "flower fortunes" and "entrance flourishes."

Loss Kellam and Lon'qu in a battle with some Risen. I'm sad about losing Kellam since his high defense saved lives. Not so sad about Lon'qu since he seemed really, REALLY useless without a Killing Edge.

I finished the game in Easy Casual. Now Im playing it in Easy classIC with no restarts. So far Im in hcapter 11 and 5 people are permadead. Who's better Lonqu or gaius? Seeing as Gaius is dead..Lonqu.

Sorceress Tharja with Vengeance, Nosferatu and lifetaker = Vampire. Its so OP its hilarious.

I like the idea of Vengeance, but as a skill on a mage class... ehh. For it to be of use requires a fragile unit to be open to enemy attack. Dark Mages are tougher than other mage classes, but I'm still leery about letting them hang out in the enemy's range.

Tharja's vengeance rarely was of any use to me. It triggered all the time, but she was full health. Same with Henry. Cynthia got some use out of it through inheritance, but a skill that depends on units being hurt is just not something for me.

Vengeance is certainly better than Focus. Seriously, why is that a mage skill? Critical+10 when no allies are within three spaces? WHO HAS THEIR MAGES THAT FAR AWAY FROM THEIR BUDDIES?

Give it to a dracoknight or pegasus or...Gaius. He's a one-man army.

Seeing as Gaius is dead..

Impossible.

Aaaand Henry is permadead in my classic Playthrough. :/

You know I never really figured out what the uses were for pegasus/darkfliers/dracoknights.
I mostly use them as a rush unit to vs their weapon synergies against enemies. And I tried using a pegasus knight to tank mages but it doesnt seem to be as useful as I thought.
Same thing with bow-users.
Am I doing it wrong?
