In a game that relies a lot on the enemy phase to do most of the killing, Galeforce is a bit too prized in my opinion. Maybe I'll see its true value in Lunatic.

On a side note, a minor lore question. Are Risen the fallen soldiers from the failed future?

Its suggested that they are. Theres a certain lvl farther along in the game and DLC stuff that hints that not only are the Risen fallen soldiers but also fallen heroes from different timelines.

Bah-ha!

This just supports my idea that they should have played a light/dark yin-yang with the Risen and Elo-whatevers. Elohim being spirits taken by Naga/the Light, Risen those taken by Grima, and their undead armies fighting eachother over the land and both causing harm to the locals in the way.

No, I would prefer to leave them in the outrealm constantly waging their own battles since the villains from previous games, especially ones who would side with Grima, are among the cards too. Also that would raise questions as to why warriors from other worlds (or at least times) were all the sudden revived.

In the outrealms and multiple timelines, it doesn't have to make sense. Time and space are trippy, and rogue Einherjar that already mix friend and foe. =]

More seriously, in the context of the main story it would be easier to cast: the endless armies of Light and Dark as Naga and Grima fight over the boundaries of Time and Space. Servants of the Fell Dragon, or those consumed/claimed by ritual, have their souls consumed and their bodies left to become Risen. Servants of Naga and other Heroic Spirits become Einherjar in the Outrealms, their bodies gone but their spirits intact.

All you'd really have to do is embelish and develop the existing lore of both a bit: according to Henry risen can be summoned by deliberate means to fight against one's enemies, and we know the Grimleal (and the Conqueror) can control them to some extent. Similarly, the idea of summoning Einherjar as a easy-make army is part of the plot for the first DLC: Einherjar obey the card holder, good or evil, when they aren't just rampant. Which would be just as bad for the land, because intelligent but misdirected Einherjar can go about their havoc so much more efficiently, no?

Both Risen and Einherjar, in other words, are potentially endless, summonable armies that can be drawn from time and space. Both can, with some contextual exceptions, be generally associated with the Dragon of Light (Naga) or Dark (Grima), who are known to fight (the backstory) and are demonstrated to have powers related to moving people across time and space (the Children, the Avatar of Grima). Both have religions and powerbases on the continents who would willingly summon their God's aid, and the allure of quick power and expendible armies would be tempting to even more secular powers.

The blocks are there. All you'd really need to do is, well, build it up more. New arc, or new dynamics while remaking old ones. As Risen/forces of Evil spread across the land, worshippers of Naga/pragmatic schemers like Excellus discover the power of the Einherjar seek to summon them to counter Risen/bolster their own power. Because Einherjar naturally oppose Risen, the forces of Grima-of-the-Future, Naga not only allows but enables this to occur as part of her opposition to Grima.

Einherjar hosts come, are ultimately not much more controllable than the Risen they oppose, and what starts as secular opportunism (say Excellus wanting a summon-army) snowballs into end-of-days war of Light and Dark as rogue Einherjar, lost and confused in time, fight Risen and eachother and anyone else in their confusion. Their inclusion, intended to help, only increases the chaos of the world in a big fight between Light and Dark.

So it's up to Chrom and the Shepards (or, as part of his role, the Valm and the Conqueror) to fight both the forces of Light and Dark to end the conflict and restore peace and justice to the world.

Really, it's not that much different from what we already get if you use the DLC or fight Bonus Box teams.

Or did you?

There's always the part of Grima that's still in the other timeline. Or the possible one in this. Or the umpteen bajillion other timelines.

Why not just use a mana-bomb and destroy Grima in all timelines?

Because there would be timelines you didn't, obviously.

But it affects infinite timelines. Better than one.

Incoming massive character assassination of Stahl, just letting you all know. Sadly, one of the conversations I need doesn't appear to be on youtube. It'll be a few minutes...

Renewal is trolltastic. Is Vantage the only skill that lets you attack first?

Five letters actually, I think that BSN just turned 'wh' into one letter

To my knowledge, Vantage is the only skill like that.

I'm probably going to start a lunatic playthrough. At what level is it best to reclass? Should I reclass after I have all of the class's skills or beyond that?

It's best to re-class at level 10, unless you want the level 15 skill.

I've been going all the way to 20 for base classes a lot out of necessity. Some promoted classes too. Those Second and Master Seals aren't easy to come by starting out.

Still waiting for the game down here in Australia. Some idiots in the marketing department decided to troll me by making the Australian release date one day after Europe, aka: this Saturday.

I WANT AWAKENING ALREADY DAMMIT!

Fairly confident I'm going to have even less of a life than I do now and be glued to my 3DS for weeks when I get it.

I think I'll do that except for maybe my FMU. Is Galeforce better than any of the tactician/grandmaster skills for Lucina?
Maybe I'll just have Lucy reclass to Dark Flier instead.

No reason you can't go for both. Between DLC and random spawns (and forced spawns), there's not much of an XP shortage unless you abstain.

As for either/or... as an offensive beast, Galeforce would probably be better for Lucina. She already gets Aether, which does significant damage as well as regains health, and so attacking twice on your choosing is probably worth more than Ignis.

Don't get me wrong: Grandmaster is powerful. Ignis is beast for any child with good strength and magic, while Rally Spectrum is the best rally/support skill of them all, next to Rally Heart. It's just that if you're supporting with Rally, you're not attacking. And Aether should be attacking as much as possible.

i augment aether with luna. like i mentioned, luna will trigger for all the times eather doesnt.

i respec my chars at lvl 10 n 15 when they get all the class skills. it gets harder n harder to lvl up the higher u go. so if i respec chars at lvl 20 each time, its that much harder.

My current avatar(10 tactician - 16 grandmaster - 16 darkflier - 16sage - 16sorceror - 20 bride... I have a life, I swear) skill set is Rally Spectrum, Movement and Heart, along with Galeforce and... Ignis? I think? Anyway, since she gains about 5 xp per kill now, I have her use her galeforced extra turn to use that pile o' rallies. It's beautiful. I broke my "always use tomes" rule for her to get rally heart. It's overkill, but I love it.

Homebound, I know you use Maribelle a lot, and I'm curious. What's her defense stat? Mine (10 troubadour - 16 valkyrie - 9 falcon knight) has a paltry defense of 10. She has the lowest defense on the entire team. I refuse to give her my stockpile of dracoshields until she apologizes for her general nastiness towards my avatar.

I'm just putzing around waiting for Priam's spotpass map and collecting the non-romantic supports from first gen characters, and I'd forgotten how fragile these characters are. I sat dread fighter Lon'qu on a fort square with a decent support character to draw in distant attackers, and he got butchered in two hits. I want to leave them in front so they can at least try to catch up to their kids, but they can't seem to hold it together. Perhaps I shouldn't be playing challenges on chapter 25 with characters that hadn't seen anything past... oh, chapter 13?

Henry's the only one on par with the children. His res is lacking now since I made him a warrior... but he seems to enjoy hacking things up.

He's even happier when he takes damage!

I don't bother with the higher difficulties of computer-cheats-damn-it, so min-maxing has never been much of an issue for me. On casual everyone looks like a badass if you just level them up, so there's more flexibility to have fun with character pairings and whatnot.

I kid you not, sometimes the smallest things are the funniest when you put them in context... like when you have the Chrom and the Avatar with no relationship, but have three potential S ranks with Big Sister, Little Sister, and Daughter.

Yeah, that's the one.

(I know why they didn't, but damn- I wish they had content about the MC and Chrom becoming in-laws.)
