So he's playing around in his support conversations too? I've only seen a few of his so far in my latest playthrough. He died pretty much near the beginning of the game the last two times.

He's constantly telling everyone not to treat him like a kid - people who have to keep saying that to others usually are kids. He's not as bad as Nowi - not by a long shot - but his portrait suggests he should be worried about cooties, not asking women twice his age to marry him.

Donnel's age is rather ambiguous, he's not that old, but I also don't see him as a child. Plus, he gets a pass as he's voiced by Sam Riegel, even if it's almost unrecognizable.

Speaking of unrecognizable voices, Tharja is voiced by Stephanie Sheh. I just looked that up, color me shocked. Especially considering the type of voice she uses with her popular VA roles.

Mega bump but I figured using a new thread is pointless.

So... Lunatic is... something.

Something unforgivable. So many retries in just the Prologue and first two chapters. Enemy units will slaughter you easily if you're not careful, and abusing Frederick the right way. Gotta use the DLC I do have to my advantage as Reeking Boxes seem to be utterly pointless at best and downright detrimental at worse. Enemy units with stat ratings +230. I'm not ready for that.

Heh, thread bump's reminded me I still have a play through and some dlc to finish.

As for lunatic, I dread to even imagine it. Hard was bad enough for me. I'd constantly forget to check enemy skills, (a bad habit made on normal, given that there's no real reason to there) so I'd constantly end up caught out by the more ridic stuff like counter. I'll just assume that's even more commonplace on lunatic and avoid it like the plague.

You must make the Lunatic plunge. Make it, and understand this pain.

If you have the dlc then you can use that for free grinding and money yo make Lunatic a bit more easier as reakling boxes are useless in Lunatic(they cost alot of money hence you no longer make a profit) make the best pairing possible and if a kid can inherit Galeforce(Owen, Brady and Indigo) do it. Also if you want a good Lucina make sure you have all the stats you want before doing chapter 11.Though even with all that, you all need to have good tactics so depending on how good you are at strategy will also have a big impact. You can have a all maxed  stat team but if you don't think carefully, you'll just end up dying.

I'll probably give it a go someday, maybe when my 3DS backlog dies down a bit. If I could just remember to skill check and avoid experimenting with ridiculous support combinations in favour of actually beneficial ones, I might even get somewhere.

'Course, after that there's lunatic plus, right? *sigh*

I finally got around to playing this, and played through on Hard the first time.

I enjoyed it, although I'm not a fan of the pair up system replacing the old rescue system. In the end I found that the most effective strategy was to only use half my army while the other half existed only for pair up stat boosts.

Combine that with very high block assist rates on most S rank support parings and as long as I paid attention to enemies with Counter my units barely got touched.

Perhaps I'll try it again one day on Lunatic.

You should. It should satisfy. Then again, maybe it'll just frustrate. I thought about rage quitting early on but now I'm in the swing of things, having access to DLC for grinding. I heard the paralogues and later chapters get tough though.

I missed this thread.

For Lunatic, I think the EXP DLC is best used to get past the bump in the first story arc and to bring unleveled characters up to speed. Otherwise, you'll be playing Frederick Emblem the first half of the game since it's impossible to grind against promoted level 20 risen.

The golden dlc maps aka break the game more while not needed just makes Lunatic a bit more forgiving, not that it's needed.  I'm sure people out there have beat Lunatic without it, it will just take alot of time, and some vodka to drown your sorrow.

I remember a Lunatic + playthrough on the Serenesforest forum, without any grinding, barracks, or gifts. The guy sacrificed several units just to continue, which is a big no-no for me.

I just went straight to grinding, but only a few times. I wanted something harder than Hard. Doesn't mean I want to rely on one (or two) overpowered unit for a good chunk of the game.

Now, if only you could turn off same-turn reinforcements. That is just... ugh.

I beat the demo on lunatic way back when and that was enough for me.

Aren't there units in later levels that have perma-Pavise and Aegis and crazy stuff like that? Or is that just Lunatic+?

The big bosses like Walhart have pavise and aegis, final boss also has another skil.

Priam is also a big pain because he has all breaker skills and can hit you at any range unless you use a longbow or mire. Thankfully he does not have aegis so spamming mire on him is what you want to do because going head on with him in Lunatic is suicide unless you get really lucky.

I'll have to get some of the DLC and try it out.

I'm not sure how much harder it is over hard, but only one map gave me any difficulty on hard which was the map that I figured out just using half my army as stat boosters, at which point it became easy.

Much harder. My view on Hard now, which I didn't even start that long ago, is that I'd consider it Easy / Casual / Whatever the easiest difficulty is. The difficulty is night and day between Hard and Lunatic. For now anyway. So far I've had to put in a good amount of tactical effort to just get to Chapter 9. Maybe if I over grind I could blow through most of the rest of the chapters but I doubt it.

The maps I found hard on hard was Cynthia,  Severa map(each for their own reasons) and some of the spotpass chapters.

The maps that were hard on Hard were harder on Lunatic. (Read: Anything with flier reinforcements)

Um... Isn't that obvious? I don't think anything that was Hard on Hard would be easier on Lunatic. Every map on Hard is harder on Lunatic.

I meant it is hard to the point of being challenging again, even after you beat it. Playing the Tree level twice didn't stop me from getting swarmed by those damn winged horses.

Isn't that the point? Of course it's going to be more challenging. If you're saying, that it never gets easier, then you're wrong. The AI performs exactly the same across all playthroughs and will make the exact same decisions if you do. Lunatic +, maybe not, but Lunatic certainly gets easier.

Revisited my Lunatic playthrough again after like a month or two off, Henry is still best character. I had forgotten how much so.
