Are there any best pairings for the game? I read somewhere that Chrom gets married after Chapter 11 if you don't do his conversations early in the game. Is this true of other characters as well?

Chrom's the only character that automatically marries.
As for best pairings, there are several that people say results in stupidly-powerful children, but if you're not playing on lunatic, pretty much any pairing will get you through. It's good to look at the classes available for each parent to see what their potential child will inherit and try to build from there. I personally tried to avoid overlapping classes to give the kids as many classes/skills as possible to pick from.
I think it was Gaius and Donnel that would allow their female children to switch to the Dark Flier class, as they have a male-only class that doesn't get passed on if the child is female. Pairing them with a character already able to pass on Dark Flier could be a loss, because galeforce is one of -if not the best skill in the game. Spread the Dark Flier love.
I remember having a nearly untouchable Inigo but I can't for the life of me remember who the father was.

Can't find one, might have to wait for the direct to appear in the archive.
Though there was footage and everything and crap, I'm too excited to even browse for a link properly.
That's made my day month year.

Looks a lot like awakening. Unsurprising I suppose since it was received so well.

I don't have to buy a Wii-U for this. Is it New 3DS only? EDIT: Apparently not.
On a side note, the background battle sprites remind me of the old Total Wars (Shogun).

Buying a 3DS just for Fire Emblem is certainly tempting...

Fire Emblem is excellent, and there are tons of other great 3DS games to choose from that would hold your interests, I'm sure. ![]()

It was tempting at one FE. Now there's two. The math says you have to.

Awakening was the whole reason I got a 3DS. Then again I'd probably personally fly out to Japan if I had to just to get another Fire Emblem game.
I swear I don't have issues.

I'm still not sure what kind of game Fire Emblem is.. Does it play like that strategy RPG Banner Saga or something?

Shame there isn't a Nintendo thread or something, since I wanted to express an excitement for the Majora's Mask release date.

Turn based strategy, similar to XCOM if you've played it. Not sure how Banner Saga plays.
The RPG parts come in by all your units having unique stats with various growth rates on leveling up and classes that define which passive abilities they get and what weapons they can use.
On another note I really hope they change the name. Fire Emblem If just sounds silly =P

Banner Saga's gameplay seems to be set up more like a board game, like the Heroes' games, in terms of movement dur combat in regards to say.. attacking enemy units, battlefield granting both strategic advangtages and disadvantages. I think Disagea is like that too.Turn based strategy, similar to XCOM if you've played it. Not sure how Banner Saga plays.

As for being similar to XCOM - That sounds neat. Valkyria Chronicles is like that and I absolutely love that game. Will consider looking out for Fire Emblem in the future too then.

*Feet SNIP*
I was hype enough for a new Fire Emblem but now I notice the character models have feet instead of stumps now? (plus dem smooth transitions)
Also hey we share the same avatar. (I use basically the same one as yours on other sites. Might change this one soonish)

Sounds awesome, will have to once again consider getting a 3DS to get some of that!

Well you'll have to take my word for it, but when I saw feet, that Jontron clip was the first thing that came to mind.

I've noticed how awesome the new class armor designs look in the trailer. It looks like a mix of Western European, Greco-Roman and Japanese aesthetics.

I was basically
1. Wow that's basically Awakening.
2. Cool.
Honestly Fire Emblem has always been pretty cool IMO, I think it just hit some kind of critical mass attention point with Awakening for whatever reason.
