Awakening has broken mechanics. There was nothing he could do to prevent all his units from getting final smashed into oblivion. Intelligent System released a ridiculously unbalanced fighting game.
If I recall correctly there is no way to know who even has support conversation with someone else in the one you're playing. It was by chance that I found any when I played.
I picked up the item storage guy and the fortune teller, which opened up more options on the prep screen, so I figured, well, now it's here.
...the game has no mention of support conversations anywhere, aside from a house you visit that suggests standing next to your "boon companions". The helpful npc then goes on to say "how do you know which ones are your boon companions? well...."
That's right, hide one of the game's best features.
To be honest I sort of feel like Berserkers in the GBA games overshadowed Warriors as they tend to have much better speed and a passive 15% increased crit chance(which I like more than the use of bows).
Bows > everything. EVERYTHING. I cleared most of an Awakening map using assassin Gaius on a fort square (he got surrounded and his sword ran out) and a Radiant Dawn map using only Shinon while the rest of my team hung back and cheered him on. I do believe there was a rescue staff involved but he'll say otherwise.
Most of the time I find myself with Hector handling my axes though. He has a respectable skill growth, and the defense growth to back up not having the greatest speed. I also have Sain, Kent, Raven, or Harken to provide axes with lower strength if needed as well
Yep, Hector's not so bad. It's the fighter class that doesn't really lend itself well to its weapon. And I don't think I've ever even used a berserker, aside from in Awakening when you can beef them up beforehand to your liking.
Ack, I gotta go. I didn't realize what time it was.

Please be May, please be May...
Either way though, that's a great first half of the year for the 3DS.

Dat Majora's Mask next month...
Hoping to get that New 3DS along with that. And then Xenoblade Chronicles come April.
It would be awesome if New Fire Emblem came out in May. Although that seems a bit too optimistic when they couldn't even grace the direct with an official name or English translations.
Yeah, I expect it'll be later than that. Wishful thinking. Heck, with no talk of release dates on the original direct, I'm surprised to see it this year at all, never mind this summer. I'll take that.
And Monster Hunter and Xenoblade for me. I'd better actually finish OoT before getting Majora.
Project Steam looks interesting too. Gotta laugh at the inclusion of the FE amiibos.
Bye wallet. ![]()

The direct was for what I'm assuming was actual Spring 2015 relases so it could come out by the end of May. Developers have loose definitions of Spring though which is why I'm skeptical on top of the lack of info leading up to the release window. As long as we get it before July. But I doubt it.
This has since been changed to "Games coming for Nintendo 3DS". No mention of "2015." And the only game that affects in that bunch is Fire Emblem, as the rest have release dates.
Summer 2015 is the Japanese release, and while I'm hoping for a worldwide simultaneous release, (it won't happen, I'm sure,) Awakening was almost a year old before NA got it, and exactly a year old when EU did.
I think we'll be lucky if we see it this year at all.

Probably then, if that's been changed. Its what I first thought watching the direct.
I know that I'll still get my hopes up though, looking at all the worldwide releases they've been pushing of late.

True. It was a long while before NA got Awakening. There's plenty of games in the immediate future and the distant past that I need to play so hopefully the wait for more info doesn't kill me now that the series is consciously on my radar for this next release.
On the other hand, Awakening had a pretty good result in NA, and Japan (and Nintendo) have been having a gradual shift of doing more and more translation and localization work in advance. It's not quite the same, but a few anime these days release dubs simultaneously.
Point being, I wouldn't be surprised if the wait was a bit less this time around... though that still might not be this year.
But hey, Majora's Mask next month? Just in time to be a B-day present.

This surprises the hell out of me. When I heard Psycho-Pass 2 got dubbed I was a bit skeptical. I'm not complaining though. If video game companies want to start cooperating enough to do the same I hope they go for it.

Xenoblade X is also not far away. Releasing in April in Japan, so I imagine localization effort won't be far ahead.
Ordered Fire Emblem Awakening; I'm gonna see if it's fun when I'm done with Persona Q
It's fun. Out of three FE games I've played it takes the least tactical effort though. Which is disappointing. Difficulty problems, and other things aside, great game in my opinion.

Space Dandy also had simultaneous dub showing, though arguably that series was aimed more at the western audience from the get-go. Put point is, I feel Japan is getting more aware and geared towards the inevitable western release rather than lagging by default.

Oh, it's not that much different if you avoid grinding to total superiority- or increase the difficulty.
It's just that filthy casual mode really does work for filthy casuals.

The mode isn't the problem, it's the lack of specific mechanics/additions/whateveryouwannacallem in previous games being absent that make it less tactical. The difficulty, even on Lunatic, isn't changing that
So far I'm liking the game. The combat definitely has that reactionary factor that reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles gameplay.. I like it.
Oh so they also took one of the more unique aspects of Geneaology of the Holy War, the whole marriage/mating system with 2nd generation.... no doubt that's been popular.
So, Henry is like amazing and everything

Someone else recognizes best character Henry. Good man.
"I usually disarm my foes by removing their arms but your way works too."

No, Gregor is best! Gregor hides brilliant sarcasm and occasional mockery under the making of amusingly awkward Russian syntax, yes? Plus Gregor has all the best advice on the makings of sweet romance.
On the other hand, Virion is superb and more than just a philandering archiest of archers. That man's got some hidden depths, and a number of his support conversation pairings are remarkably sweet. He's probably one the least one-note characters in the male cast.
So, Chris, which gender Avatar have you played? And who are you pairing with who?

Incredibly. Add on that everyone can get multiple A ranks, and that almost everyone has at least six support pairings, and it's a massive network of potential relationships.
Though I admit, I am a bit sad the player gets supports with absolutely everyone (two, if you factor in the gender of the avatar), while Chrom is far more limited. Can you imagine if Lucina's mother could have been... Tharja?
I'm sure the support conversation for that would have been hilarious.
I like Cordelia a lot

Yeah actually it's probably a bit more extensive than Genealogy, I was surprised to see almost everyone could have connections to almost everyone else.
Gregor is amusing, he make Chris speak with a very Sovjet-Cold-War-esque accent when Chris reads Gregor dialogue. He no good at make himself understood sometimes, which makes Gregor fun character. Beneath tough exterior lies deep personality with Gregor. No, Gregor is best! Gregor hides brilliant sarcasm under the making of amusingly awkward Russian syntax, yes? This game has caught my attention. I'll have to look into getting a new 3DS again.
