It just feel like one of the most retarded moves of 2015 from not only a product perspective but game design perspective. How underhanded do you have to be to split up main story paths across two different games? This sh*t isn't Pokemon. It's not justified.
The worst bit is, the Pokemon differences are usually little more than swapping out the token legendary, along with a handful of minute changes you're unlikely to even notice.
Here we're talking about two massively different ways to approach the game, to the point that they've said the mechanics of one version lends itself better to certain players. And that's without even considering the impact on the story, or that there's further cost for a third path.
Alternate paths does not a new game make, and I laugh thinking about the concept for other series. That pair of Halo 5 trailers we just got, with each showing alternate paths... are they going to be two separate games now? *shakes head* Probably best not to give MS any ideas, actually.
The whole things managed to make me way more excited for the crossover. And that's saying something considering the trailer showed barely any influence from the one of the two series I'm actually familiar with.
