Fire Emblem without deterioration sounds like a dream. I'd honestly buy it for that alone.

Im guessing the weapons will be more spars and expensive.
Like in all the 30 chapters maybe theyre only ever be 2 brave swords or something and they cost a lot. Essentially all the weapons become divine weapons.

Dream is dead bro. Should've seen this coming after Awakening's success. No way in hell were they going to offer anything of substance when they can just play up common anime cliches with even more shallow and simplistic characterization. Because Waifu Emblem. Interesting storylines? You ain't Atlus, baby!
Just curious, which FE game do you use as a reference for good writing? Not that Awakening doesn't deserve some bashing, just that you make it sound nigh irredeemable.
God $%^#$%#@W damn it Japan.
I had high hopes for a nature-vs-nurture theme.
I found that dichotomy pretty dumb anyway, at least as posed by the trailer. Undying loyalty to your bloodline or your adopted family isn't loyalty at all, especially since we don't even know the experiences of the main PC. It just seems like a really stupid "Who would you save" question a friend asks.
On a side note, am I the only one getting tired of bluebloods? I kind of miss Ike and his relatively humble beginnings as a merc captain's boy.

I've only played the two GBA titles so one of those. That is, if I was using any other Fire Emblem as a reference for why I criticize Awakening. I'm not though. I don't really have any one particular thing in mind that does something better than Awakening as I'm criticizing it. As for it being irredeemable, not at all. It's good for what it is, a typical Japanese fantasy story with a bigger focus on character interaction (that they could do a better job of not making them so cliche) than showcasing narrative complexity. I'm more critical of it now because it's the catalyst for a few changes in the next game I'm not fond of that I've already complained about in here.

The crummyness is rooted in the whole "Durr choose which version to play" nonesense which can at best be compared to that of Season Passes. You don't even know if you're going to like these characters or not, so the choice alone isn't as much of a moral choice as that of "give me more cash if you want the whole thing" -- Plus given Nintendo's take on trying to write edgy stories, like say Other M, being incredibly bad.. Well, I'm not holding my breath for this one and its pretense of offering moral choice.. through your wallet.Just curious, which FE game do you use as a reference for good writing? All Fire Emblem games fall into anime/JRPG tropes; some of the other games are just way better at it because they don't really descend into the same kind of apocalyptic plots (and they don't have romances in the same way).

I don't like the sound of Special Edition.
Will probably give them an excuse to raise the price.
"Look, look! It says SPECIAL, which means we can give it a SPECIAL price!"
Yeah well f*ck you too Nintendo.

That was kind of my feeling, Awakening was a success borne out by pressure, who knows what IF will be ultimately but my guess is it's going to be more conventionally fire emblemy, moreso than Awakening was I guess.
I kind of have mixed feelings about Fire Emblem, it was always kind of anime-y but that's not inherently a bad thing, the biggest problem are the ones people talked about but having goofy side conversations and jokes as a part of that is kind of charming.
