But I will say a few things.
The intro cutscene, which was left out of the demo, was fantastic.
I'm playing on Hard/classic. I suffered my first game over in my first spotpass battle, and just my luck, it's the character I wanted out of the bunch. His team's all equipped with silver gear and can one-shot everyone on my team, even Crutch Character Frederick. Guess I'll have to wait until later to challenge them.
Speaking of crutch characters, I usually drop them ASAP as soon as I have the ability to choose units. But I had Fred paired with Lissa, he's an excellent wall and can cart her around the battlefield quickly to where she's needed. I keep forgetting to give him a weaker weapon because he just murders everything and nobody else gets the chance to take a swing.
It seems that the unit limit was brought in a lot earlier than usual, but maybe that's just me. I want to use ALL OF THE CHARACTERS, all the time. When you're working on supports, it's hard to split people up.
I did have to chuckle once as my pegasus knight shielded her partner, Kellam the knight, from an arrow and took no damage.
Also, archers can dual attack adjacent units if it triggers, and short range attackers can dual attack non-adjacent units the same way. I wasn't sure if they could, but they can.
No real complaints about the game so far, aside from every single character lacking feet.

Just a heads up.
And total respect to anyone who uses Donnel outside of his recruitment battle. I ain't babysitting that turd, I don't care WHAT skills he'll get. The number of units available in battles is quite low, and every spot counts. I can't waste a spot on him, especially since he gets killed in one hit.
Next playthrough I'll give him a chance. Right now, I'm happy with mowing down everything with my avatar. I dumped her sword in the convoy and loaded her up with tomes. I <3 mages.
She just got married, after one of the dumbest insta-romances in a video game ever. Support conversations are quick to build up to if you pair up constantly, I'm only on Chapter 5.

I disagree, 3 percent actually means 33 percent, and 33 percent means 100 percent.
Tell that to my myrmidon. He came equipped with a killing edge that hasn't killed anything yet. He regularly gets two hits per turn, but just doesn't want to put in the effort for a critical, I guess. I suppose 33% is a low percentage, but after ten hits or so I figured he's wasting that sword, so I gave him a basic iron one.
I miss Zihark. Zihark knew how to critical.
But yeah, I'm actually afraid to engage enemies with 3% critical chances. It's that bad.

The next turn, my avatar engaged an enemy she could hit twice at 96%, so she could kill it.
Her thunder tome had one use left.
If Chrom hadn't been there to mop up her mess, it would have been game over. But I think I've used up all my lucky breaks for a while. Time to buckle down and pay attention.

There are little events in the barracks that can sometimes trigger a little exp boost, similar to the event tiles in battles. That's about it.

Nope. You've gotta put Donnel out on the battlefield, lol.

Count the lack of bonus experience as one of my small beefs with the game.

If it ends up not being included, I blame the pointless Hubba Tester. Yes, that is what it's called.

You know what floats my boat, Hubba? SUPPORT CONVERSATIONS!

Because they don't.
As for bonus xp versus grinding, grinding is also good for developing supports. And let me tell you, you need supports. They make a huge difference.
I'm curious to see who you all pair off, and what your strategies are.
I'm also curious about the cash flow on normal difficulty. On hard you start with 5000g. (Seals are 2500 a piece, and the only gold you pick up is the occasional drop.)

I was shocked when I first read some of the reviews and how it mentioned that you can marry other characters and that the marriage thing extended to children. It first sounded like u could marry kids in the game. O_o Or is that really the case?

...here's another minor quibble. You don't automatically change class at level 21. It maxes out at 20, and seals are expensive. Do they think enemies explode in a shower of gold bullion?
Because they don't.

Enemies do explode in gold bullion:whistle:
and you can support grind in the side missions, it's what they're for.

One enemy that drops 1000g among 30 enemies that whittle down your weapons?
I NEED MOAR 'SPLOSIONS. Hopefully this game has a silver card somewhere.

I keep forgetting that's a thing. I just checked my rewards - a free second seal and a hatchet!
It just occurred to me I don't use anyone that uses axes. Screw the weapon triangle. Vaike is a glass
If I could feasibly have a team full of mages and archers, I would.
My favorite characters so far:
-Virion's a beast. Paired with Sully, he just wrecks the entire battlefield.
-Gaius is the most capable thief since RD Sothe. The dude can dish it out, and rarely gets hit. He does have A-support with a grandmaster, though...
My least favorite characters:
-Vaike. Doesn't jive with my playstyle. I know I'm a little hard on him, he deals decent damage, but he's a fighter. Bleh. If I ever get him to level ten, he's getting reclassed right away.
-Maribelle. By the time you get her, Lissa is way ahead of her. I don't want to climb that hill again, especially when units are dealing more damage. I suppose you could pair her up with a mage to boost her magic, but that mage should be out there dealing damage, not hiding behind a healer.
-Donnel. Poor guy. My fault for being impatient.
