Oops, sorry, I mean Fire Emblem Fates. It's a typo. You can have gay relationships in his game and adopt a child character. Fire Emblem is full of Ho Yay, so it's awesome that it's actually canon in the game. It's no worse than incest  subtext for this game.

It's actually a big deal for Zero and "Tharja" (Shara) to be possible gay candidates, considering it's Japan, and this is a mainstream Japanese game. It's still a big taboo in Japan to be gay and you don't see it often unless it's an Otome game. I don't have to play as a female avatar anymore, but probably do all the S support with the girls for the theater mode. Now if only Harvest Moon allows you the same freedom as well.

No, but he's a bit of a sadist and love seeing people suffer. Shara as the lesbian option is a bit of an obsessive yandere as well, so there is a mental illness going on with both gay and lesbian options. I don't mind though since I always ship Tharja with the avatar, and now I can. Zero is also pretty nice looking and share the same voice actor as Lon'qu, so he's likely to have a deep sexy voice in the English version. Fire Emblem has lesbian character before though, Heather is totally into girls.

Actually, Fire Emblem is really niché otherwise it wouldn't have needed Awakening to be a success in order to survive which it did.

Japan doesn't have any religious bigotry towards homosexuality, like the West does, certain studies has actually counted up to over 50 percent of the population saying that it should be accepted.

The somewhat questionable position as the 'butt of all jokes' that homosexual characters faces in pop culture is of course disconcerting.. but that's not something that alone happens in Japan, it does in the West too still -- it's not so much that there is seemingly a hostile attitude towards it but rather that it's just generally not being taken up to debate as it probably should.

 

Anyway, what I wanted to point out is that it's rather small step from the whole Tomodachi embarrassment and one shouldn't forget to mention how these characters are separated between versions too.

Considering how the handled Literally!Tharja I have faith Zero wont be a caricature. Shara/Tharja isnt a caricature, being a lesbian isnt who she is. it makes sense shes lesbos for the main character because shes always been moist for MaMU. Maybe those two things dont make sense together but considering who shes a reincarnation of, it fits and isnt a throwaway thing thats been hamfistedly inserted into the character.

Most of the bara guys are on the Nohr's side, and it is the Western Medieval, as well as the gay option. They make it really easy for me to choose which version.

 

I'd probably get both versions eventually, but Nohr is definitely gonna be my Pokemon X. 

 

Foleo is not the gay option is just a relief. It would be a stereotypical character to be gay. Nothing wrong but I just don't want the first official gay character to be a stereotype.

From reading cross dressing manga and going by the archetype, he's a fashionista guy who just wears female's clothes because it looks good on him, but he's a straight guy.
