Fire Emblem: Awakening and more

I beat Florina's team, they were pretty low-level. I don't use her, though. She's the same level as my garbage pile - Vaike and Donnel.
I think the only other team I have now is Nino's, which I haven't tried.
I just recruited Morgan. A thief almost got away with a fortify staff, he was one square away from the exit. I decided to risk sending Cordelia/Libra to get it, thinking she had about a 50% chance to survive.
Cordelia's awesome.
I still have seven couples to marry off, I had to work it out on paper as I thought I might have lost my chance to get Sumia's kid.
Look's like Donnel's the odd man out. He looks about ten, anyway. He doesn't need a wife.

My mages hate me. And apparently my Avatar married the creepy goth stalker psycho who watches him sleep.
I tried metagaming the marriage system but I stopped when I realize you could end up marrying your own daughter or something..Being married to the stalker girl wasnt so bad.
As I recall your kid only appears when you marry someone, so I don't think you can marry your own daughter.
Anybody got some pro-tips they'd like to hand out? Fire Emblem is like a snazzy chessgame where the pieces level up. Its so different from what I usually consider an RPG.
My Avatar is a Dark Knight that uses Swords and Tomes. He's very Anti-Tank in that regards and his resistance makes him a Magic-Tank.
His asset is Resistance and his flaw is luck. So, any tips for you seasoned emblemiers?
Luck isn't really a necessary stat to have. If it goes up, that's all well and good, but you never really need it. So you don't need to worry about that.
My tips? Examine the map before you fight. Look at who is out there. Does the enemy have a lot of knights? A lot of cavaliers/paladins? Mages? Flyers?
These are all things you need to take into account. Every type of unit has some sort of weakness. Knights have low resistance and speed and are restricted to using lances. So Mages would be best, but have them attack from a distance as Mages have low Defense. If the Knight lands a hit on your Mage, chances are he'll be casting spells in Oblivion.
Pegasus Knights have high resistance, but are weak to bows. This holds true to all flying units. They're weak to bows. Dracoknights -- or Wyvern knights, or whatever -- have low resistance and high defense, but are still susceptible to bowmen.
Additionally, look at your inventory. Do you have any specialized items? Certain weapons do more damage to certain types of foes.
And above all, make use of more then just a few characters! You need variety. It won't do you any good if your badass trio goes up against a foe that they can't defeat.... or worse, kills some of them.

To level up donnel I used him pairing up with kellam for a strength and defense, then I grinded him on the marth dlc, key is pairing himup with someone during the low levels.

Also I figured out how to make the most broken Avatar ever.
You need to be a lvl 15 Dark knight, then a lvl 15 Paladin, then a lvl 15 General, then a lvl 15 Assassin.
You'll get in order: Lifetaker, Aegis, Pavise, Lethality and Critical +25.
Aegis and Pavise together reduces ALL damage by 50% and is activated by your skill, which is why Assassin is your final class. It has a Skillcap of 48. Which means almost half the time, the damage you get is halved.
Lethality has a chance based on your critical to instantly kill ANY opponent including bosses. The Critical +25 further augments that. Equip a Killing Edge and holycrap thats a 55% chance to insta-kill ANYTHING.
And the best part...Lifetaker. You gain 50% health of the enemy you just killed.

So does Donnel attack or does Kellam attack?
Donnel would have to. If he's just there as backup, he'd rarely get any experience at all. Just bring him in to deal killing blows if he's as fragile as I remember. Technically, you could leave him as the backup characer, but it would take a lot longer...

Well, if you want to do all that, by that time, chances are the rest of your team will also be towering over the enemy. My avatar's overpowered as it is, and she was only a level 20 tactician up to a level 15 grandmaster.

Lethality triggers based on your skill stat divided by 4, not by critical percentage. It's a low percentage. If you're at the cap for skill, that's still only a 12% chance of a trigger.
I find Lethality to be an entirely redundant skill on Gaius. Every time it has triggered, he would have killed the enemy anyway.

I personally don't see why people are hating on the game for including casual mode. If they take away classic mode, then we'll have a problem.
Okay, hopefully someone here besides me is a classic Simpsons fan, because Sully just channelled Grampa...

Ya my next game will be a Casual with permadeath on. I also have a better idea which units should marry who. Stahl and Panne are adorable together! But Frederick and Panne are so cuddly!Shepenwepet wrote...
I personally would have welcomed a casual mode when I was first introduced to the series, but permadeath forces you to think things through and plan a lot more, so you rarely end up losing units unless you bungle a move or get the short end of the critical stick.

My Chrom ended up marrying Marribelle. Your Avatar ended up with Chrom right?
I just met Morgan my Avatar's future daughter and OMG she's so adorable and huggable and I Forged her a Nosferatu book cuz shes a Dark Mage and I called it the "Morganomicon"!!! x3
But damn Tharja my Avatar's S-Support is cold-blooded. She's so mean to "our" daughter! >:T
In my next playthrough Im thinking of picking Olivia. At least she's nice.
what r some of your favourite pairings?

Apparently Jill can switch sides during that battle. It's never happened to me.

Not sure I have one, a lot of the support conversations are a bit silly for my taste. I just unlocked B-support for Tharja and Libra, which was interesting, as was Lon'qu and Cherche's C. Neither of those couples will end up together as Lon'qu married Miriel and Libra married Cordelia.
My avatar did end up with Chrom, but only after a reload. She was originally with Gaius, if only to hear his voice actor during the confession.
In regards to the whole FE series, my favorite couple is easily Eirika/Seth.

Supposedly it only happens on Hard Mode, if Jill talks to her father. And if you don't have an A support with someone, you're screwed.

Also, when do you recruit Tharja and the Manakete? I need them to round out my teams and complete my support pairings.

I am having a bit of trouble with sully though, anyone have some advice on how to handle her?
I kept her as a cavalier. I paired her up with Virion, because at the time he was my biggest damage dealer aside from my avatar. Once their support hit B and A, they reliably dual attacked, and they started shooting up levels. I'd keep her as the active character most of the time, unless there were a lot of fliers on the map.
I had problems with Stahl in the the early chapters, Nothing seemed to be working right for him. Still isn't doing that great. Poor Stahl. I reclassed him as an archer recently because I can never have too many archers.
You get the Manakete (and Gregor) in chapter 8, and Tharja and Libra in chapter 9...if you're quick. Libra tends to charge like a madman into the enemy army. Also, when do you recruit Tharja and the Manakete? I need them to round out my teams and complete my support pairings.

I noticed you like Swords and Bows. I prefer Swords and Tomes for my characters. Tomes have the added advantage of being anti-armor while Bows are only really good vs flying units.

Weapons-wise, I'm all for ranged. Tomes first and foremost, quickly followed by bows, then javelins, then short axes. I rarely use swords on characters that can use more than one weapon type. The only characters currently with swords in their inventory are Chrom and Lucina. My Dark Knights don't use 'em.
Okay, here's my situation. I've given up grinding for skills as I really would like to advance the story before I forget what was going on in the first place. I'm on the battle to recruit Severa, Cordelia's daughter.
I've tried the battle three times. First off, you can't talk to her to recruit her, she remains an ally unit for the entire battle. Yippee. I've tried different methods, from splitting my team up to moving them in one huge block in order to keep enemies away from her.
I had the battle pretty much won. During her phase, Severa plunked herself down in the middle of three enemies, attacked one and almost died. I thought I was okay with that, I could heal her up, no problem.... but then I realized she was standing where I needed to be to get rid of all three enemies without risking losses. Plus there were more on the way. I had to risk it, as she would die on the enemy's turn.
Didn't work out so well.
Have I mentioned the allied AI is bad? I have, okay.
Here's my advice to anyone attempting this battle: bring like 17 rescue staves with you. I had brought one solely for Severa, but had already burned through it by this time.
I hate losing a battle through no fault of my own. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a short little battle. This one's long. I hate the thought of playing through it again.
What do you think, Donnel?
...heh, looks like the avatar's trying to choke him. I don't blame her. He said "Git 'er done" while paired up once. That's worth a choking.

I'm gonna be skipping a lot of it, mostly the ones that just have characters for rewards, because you can get them (albeit with different stats/classes) through spotpass eventually. I'm mainly looking forward to the new classes, the conversation dlcs and "entombed heaven". That'd make grinding a lot less time-consuming.
I finally recruited Severa yesterday. It took me five tries. Four times she was being her usual idiot self, and once my avatar was hit by a 36% / 6% critical. Dude shouldn't have even hit her to begin with.
I used a rescue staff on the first turn, so Severa changes her direction from the get-go. She still hugs walls next to ranged attackers, but it seems easier to keep her safe on the left path.
I loathe her character, though. I want to smack her.
