I barely hear the radio in the Fallout games. It muffles sound while exploring, causing an bandit or mutant to sneaking up on me without a notice. I kind of got paranoid because of that. Not to mention there is something about the ambient sounds that I find fascinating, especially in New Vegas. There would be times I would explore the Mojave, and I would hear these really creepy flute esque sounds in the background, and IDK, I really liked the vibe that kind of stuff gave me.

I really like the ambient sounds as well. There are an amazing amount of ambient sound fx tracks in the game if you look in the GECK. That one of those environmental things that Bethesda does so well.
Two things stick out to me about sounds when you are in proximity but undetected: the heavy running footsteps of feral ghouls and reavers, and the snorting and huffing of Deathclaws. Both are unnerving.

I never listened to the New Vegas radio.
There was a chance Johnny Guitar came on.
I hate that song more than Cazadors.

Yeah, I don't often listen to the music, and when I do stop to listen to the radio, it's when I'm inside or otherwise taking a break somewhere safe. Usually I'll just switch it on after I finish a quest to see if the DJ has anything to say about it.
