Obsidian has to be making it for me to buy it, I didn't like Fallout 3, New Vegas was way better in every way.

Just get Wasteland 2.  I agree with you though.  Not a fan of Bethesda's style at all (post Morrowind)

Pretty much.

I don't care if people can kill ThreeDog. You know why? Because the Fallout games have never had a Save Import function.

You could have killed Harold in Fallout 2, but he's still in Fallout 3. You could have razed Shady Sands to the ground, but it's still the center for the NCR in Fallout 2.

If you want Bethesda to start neutering your choices because it might have repercussions for future games, then I'm just glad your on these forums instead of Bethesda's, whispering venom into their ears.

True, in Fallout the choices have an impact in the game they're in unlike EAware's recent games where they fail to have in impact in the game they're in or the game they're "importing" into.

Screw the save import.

Ooohhh interesting.

I hope it touches on the Commonwealth, and Institute.
I was interested in the hints and such in Fallout 3 about them.

Well, to say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement. We've all been speculating Boston, and I'll bet we are definitely heading in that direction. Three Dog could be live out of DC since his signal could be expanded or relayed, and he could now be the big cheese of a GNR/radio free wasteland network of stations. Of course, he could be in Boston as well if he got a wild hair and was up for a little adventure to roam north. Either way, the setting for FO4 has to be within a decade or three after the events of FO3/FONV, or he's holotape material.

Immaterial in the big picture, I'm ready to play, but will try to be patient.

EDIT: At least I have another thread I actually care about following.

I agree...but accuracy in V.A.T.S. long and mid range needs lowered for headshots. It could also mean higher DAM given by enemies...and them headshoting us.

I really hope they don't make it Skyrim in the Fallout Universe. I'd be so goddam disappointed.

Now if Obsidian announces that they're making another game in the Fallout universe, I will be interested.

FNV was an unfinished mess with a predictable story.

I thought there may have been an announcement that I missed. *heart attack*

This suggests support for the rumors that it's going to be set in Boston, as I can't see Three Dog migrating too far from DC.

Boston would be perfect. And they better make this next gen with an improved engine, dammit. I'm tired of Bethesda's games looking and feeling dated.

I did and it is not as predictable as New Vegas by a mile.

Heh, yeah. Bethesda forums and their 101st instance of the "Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas Thread" or the 23rd "Official: Future Fallout Locations Suggestions Topic" thread. I'm sure the developers are watching those raptly.

So story predictability trumps every single other game design aspect for you? Interesting.

Read the rest of my sentence. FNV felt nothing more than an expansion.

I don't even see how FNV is predictable, there's a number of ways it can end.

I wouldn't word it quite like that as I enjoyed Fallout 3 for what it was, but I also found Fallout: New Vegas to be a much better game, and a much better Fallout game than Fallout 3 and would prefer Fallout 4 be left in Obsidian's hands. I'll still play a Bethesda made Fallout 4, though.

As for Three Dog, I personally found his voice obnoxious.

Funny, I've replayed Fallout 3 multiple times but never finished FNV. Different strokes...

Plus Three Dog was much better than the radio fluff in FNV.

I wasn't a fan of Mr. New Vegas per se, but he wasn't nearly as obnoxious as Three Dog. I could actually tolerate Mr. New Vegas, Three Dog was just plain annoying.

I couldn't have worded it better myself. Bethesda's Fallout was just boring and immature. Three-Dog hails as one of the most annoying parts of Fallout: 3. Well, get ready for them to further butcher the Brotherhood of Steel and the rest of Fallout's lore.

I don't know about the story being predictable or not but the characters and factions were 100% more interesting than anything if Fallout 3. None of them were without flaws unlike the FO3 brotherhood which is a completely benevolent faction and Enclave which in turn is completely evil.

The Bethesda vs. Obsidian argument is way beyond old. Both games are friggin good. I also respect the older games.

And for all we know, Chris Avallone could be working directly with Todd Howard on Fallout 4.

Nooooo!

In Fallout 1 & 2 I could have 99% accuracy to hit enemy EYES from maximum combat intiation distance (Perception played an important role in distance accuracy modifiers). In F:NV VATS is already useless for sniping... how can you possibly make the VATS accuracy worse?

I personally wonder about the new Fallout. Fallout 3 had a better world/map, design and exploration. But F:NV had better system, character development, skill use, crafting. Better characters and Factions.
After playing F:NV I cannot go back to the bland "superman max-everything" character development in Fallout 3.

A best game would be a mix of the two....
