Ok im seriously irked... i chose mage, i've completed the elves arc, and working on red-whateverville. So far i've sold prolly over 200+ copys of 'Scale Mail' / 'Chain Mail' generic armour. I have yet to encounter a SINGLE ROBE. Am i just that unlucky? Nobody sells them, nobody drops them... im seriously running around in my aprentice robes from the start... just a pure lack of mage love here i think.

Anyone know where i can find some bloody linens?

There could be some, but I've not come across any yet. I'm playing the same, and wearing the same robe I left the elf circle with. But my first spell was Stone Body (whatever it's called) and one begins to suspect BW wants magic and tactics to keep us safe.

Odd forums. It can happen.
Perhaps accidentally clicked the 'submit' button twice because it was taking too long? Strangely enough these forums are very slow, but almost every button you click has consequences. It's like a little RPG game.

This is one of my biggest concerns, the Warrior class gets all these amazing looking armours and weapons... the Mage? limited number of robes and staffs that have little to them beyond the fact that they are sticks. :)

I've always found a robe during the kocari wildlands part where you become a grey warden. You find a book on about Chaid runes and then you need to run around and around until you find all the runes. Then a log becomes unlocked as a chest type thing and you find a ... odd looking robe, +6 to defense as well as a few other items. It looks strange on a male though with an open chest.

DA doesnt have a class specific armour system, instead it link usability to your character's atributes. For example swords, heavy armours have large STR requirements to use. As a Mage your probably wont be putting many points into your STR atribute so the usability of such itens is rather limited unless you go down the Arcane Warrior path wich substitutes the STR requirements with your Spell power.

Put 1 extra point into strength and you cna now equip leather armour. Doesn't effect your spellpower or casting ability, but  it does effect the mana used to cast a spell. My mage is decked out in all leather and he has a 9% fatigue rating, meaning spells cost an additional 10% more t mana to cast because of leather penalties.

10% isn't that much at all, casting fireball which I think costs 50 mana, now costs 55 mana. not an issue at all really, unles you RP.

At 11.6 hours of gameplay I have gone thru 3 robes on my mage.

You could always become an Arcane Warrior. Either that or pray to the Maker ( and the modders) for robes.
