Have you played P:T? If you liked it,Avellone wrote more than 50% according to his co-writters,and the story was all him.If you didn't liked it, why are you interested in it's spiritual successor in the first place?Emzamination wrote...
This is a spiritual successor like origins was to baldurs gate, not a sequel. Just keep avellone away from it and I'm good.

All my interest in this game died as soon as I read that Avellone wouldn't be involved.
But Brian Fargo and others invovled in the original are.

Ah well, let's see what they do with this.

Not having Chris on the team isn't entirely unsurprising, as he'd likely want to stay focused on Project Eternity. Were it a direct sequel placed on sigil, I might've been more reluctant to hear a lack of Avellone.
Here's to a brave new world...again.

I'm confused you can't possibly be serious?
And I still laugh that Origins was the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate.

Also, I was probably 9 when it came out.
But I always see people saying it is a great rpg and such, and if they keep that "spirit" then I will def. check out the new one.

This is exactly like when DAO was announced as the spiritual successor to BG, a name drop to get people interested in it, even though it will not use the same mechanics or setting.
Still, might be pretty damn cool.
i wish Avellone was involved, but from what I've read of the mechanics it doesn't that similar to Torment. But I do think they could pull off a good game, I just don't want to give them money AGAIN until I see how well they do with Wasteland 2.
All that being said, The Numenera setting seems pretty cool.

I agree with that. Fargo is getting ahead of himself. He should wait to see what everyone thinks of Wasteland: 2 before making such announcements. I'm kind of interested, though. I hate not seeing Chris Avellone on the project.

Try to shock us by being different or insanely stupid. Probably the latter.

I tend to agree with you. PS:T was both great and overrated. the world setting is good and refreshing but Avellone's dialog wrriting was a bit too wordy for my taste.

For me and many others its exactly the opposite.Torment was great exactly because it was very"wordy". If you check Project Eternity forums the fans are against voice acting for this very reason.its expencive,so it does not allow 10 diffirent responces and massive walls of text. With full voice acting you have no choise but to follow Bioware's dialog of one liners

Indeed. Words and dialogue just don't mix.

I'm glad to hear they chose an entirely new setting for Planescape's spiritual sequel. There'd be little to no way of reigniting the same wonder and bewilderment of stepping into Sigil a second time.
True, but Planescape: Torment explores only a small part of Sigil and the planes. There is still plenty of very unusual things to see if any developer ever gets the chance to make another Planescape game.
I agree though, a new and interesting setting is very refreshing. This has been what I have wanted since KickStarter became more popular. I am surprised I had not heard of Numenera before though. I would have backed the KickStarter.
