Cheaper than lithos on eBay, though.

Citadel lithos still go for $400. And this is a lot bigger than a litho.

I can't imagine many people buying something like Earth Alliance at that price though.

To me this seems like we're slowly nearing the end of the lithos if they're marketing these, which have the same art as the original lithos.

Oh well. It was a good ride.

I think everything's just running out of steam for the moment. Things will pick up again when we have the games to go with them.

We'll get some more lithos trickled out, I am sure, we've just had Atlas; but nothing substantial till DA3, probably.

I had a friendly chat with Maarten who is one of the guys from Cook & Becker.

Their prices are certainly not for everyone but I must say that the quality of their work seems very high. I'm quite certain you won't get a bend artwork if placing an order with them :)

I talked to Maarten regarding the artwork chosen and why there was no new art.

Here's the reply:

This is our first collaboration with BioWare and partly because of a release deadline there is no new art in the collection. Our first focus now was to produce some of the existing images to a true museum-quality standard, with the most accurate color and contrast reproduction possible and to craft something together that is of interest to the ‘serious’ art enthusiast looking for superior quality

Cook & Becker does pick specific art and suggests art to the teams and artists we work with as this fine art program is something we both want to develop further. We’re also always looking at the broader cultural importance of a game, studio or artist so that is what we take into account as well. It is part of Cook & Becker’s mission to make game & entertainment art and design more visible within the contemporary art world. We’re always interested in fan feedback and will certainly take suggestions into account.”

Personally I'm glad to hear this since the whole "Bioware chooses the art (and those who sell it have no say)" direction hasn't been that succesful lately. Let's see if anything changes or perhaps we'll get more lithos like "Atlas".

Some, or perhaps the vast majority, probably feel, that the framing cost is ludicrously expensive. That probably has to do with this kind of framing job being among the best there is: "Diasec is the most expensive method for front mounting and I would only advise to that  if the print itself will really last a lifetime (like with our giclees). Otherwise a cheaper normal glass or plexiglass solution would suffice and save you some money too."

One can, however, not deny, that this looks stunning.

Miranda: Dibond mounted giclee with Diasec + Acrylic glass finish
Normandy: Liquid Gloss

Any grain is due to the camera and not the artwork itself.

According to Maarten there will be a bunch of photos next Wednesday since they're doing a gallery shoot that day. He also mentioned that they're not a snobby bunch :)

I cant see them stopping.  I hopeful that the DA3 lithos will spur my interest again. The giant Kirkwall Litho is still one of my favs.

Still the release of these... I question Biowares intentions.

What a load of crap...as if there's no other artwork available in Biowares vaults...yet they reproduce limited lithographs which have already been 'out of print'. What a joke. I want to see something new.

Heh, I sort of don't. I'm glad these gicless are artwork I already have; it stops me from purchasing them. :P

Lol that's true!!

But think of all the buzz it'd generate if they had new artwork! Fans would be talking about their collections again, but no...they're just rereleasing stuff I and a lot of people on here already own. Which gives me NO reason to even look at these. I'd be very suprised if many fans will rebuy a giclee they already own in lithograph form. Who exactly is making these business decisions???!

But you're right, the only good thing is we'll all be saving our money for other things!

They look really nice quality but I'm not paying £220 for an unframed Miranda print, as much as I would like one.

It was a good ride, but this ship is sinking fast and it's time to abandon the ship. At least until Mass Effect 4 which won't be coming for at least another 2-3 years.

Looking back, I have to question what BioWare was thinking, releasing lithographs that weren't requested/demanded or  lithographs that contained art readily available elsewhere. What's worse is they were convinced we wanted lithographs like Korlus, Pragia, Cerberus, Dead Reaper, Attack Europe, Prothean, Prothean Battle, Anderson (not new art), Atlas, and many others. Rather than obtaining signed and numbered artwork that was requested, they obtained artwork that very few sought.

It was fun, but sad and pitiful in the end.

Guess before anyone pays em 2000 Euro they will have to remove the M8-Avenger from "The Team" litho.

Seriously, am I the only one who thinks it looks totally out of place?

I got the team up in my frame at the moment and im looking at it with intent.

To me the Avenger looks fine. Its obviously there to fill a bit of a gap rather then a mass of blue for Garrus's armour. I guess it could be a cm or so slightly out of place, but Im not really noticing it. I can still see Garrus's arm bent back to put it in that position.

Eh well I got the team litho now but just the one from the bioware store (large numbered). The glicee is out of reach considering my income. And being almost 2m wide, there's no place I could think of hanging it.

That being said make some picturse Captain Crash.

I wish I was a 'serious' art enthusiast (aka rich). Though you'd have to have naked Garrus art for me to actually consider those.

Naked Garrus you say? Deviantart is at your service.

Where is the lithograph for Mordin Solus? Where's one for Wrex? Where are they? They are such obvious characters to choose and yet the fans have been denied those lithographs even still.

Deviantart. Well at least enough material that would give a decent poster.

Well you can't just print other people's art with no permission like that lol, at least not high res, I don't think people sell them? (except for Society6, that website sells lots of fanart and I've seen Mass Effect fanart being sold there). The people who do sell them could receive a DMCA notice from Bioware as it's not really legal. But if I'm gonna have fanart as print I'd just make my own myself.
