I pre-ordered after looking at the sample pages. $26 on Amazon is a pretty good deal :)

Ugh. Those pages. Disdain for side-media suddenly wanting to waver.

We've known about the likely 2013 release date for a little while, but really interesting to see some more info on the World of Thedas book.

Thanks for linking.

I always recalled reading the Elves and Dwarves traded during Arlathan's time -- and I mean before the fall, not after like Witch Hunt revealed.

Good to see I was right about that.

Also, my mind is wondering just who the "Shadow Goddess" is that the Alamarri claimed to have been fleeing from. I'm already devising dozens of speculative theories.

This preview is kind of awful. Everything is too small to read... :(

@Redux: "Shadow Goddess", I would more than bet is Flemeth in some form or another. Just a personal speculation...

My Isablea, you're looking white again.

It's odd that the most hispanic character in Thedas I've seen so far that is actually supposed to be black is now randomly not even slightly tanned. Isabela isn't just undecided sexual preference wise but even on her own ethnicity.

But then I guess thats why shes pretty awesome.

Art on the cover looks similar to Journeys / Legends stuff could be nice to see more along that line of stuff something to pass the time. Would be suprised if we see a full installment this year but who knows.

I would not put much stock in page 2 being any indication that they are doing an overhaul of the Rivaini's overall look. The art-style reminds me of the narrative-slides of DA2 in-between acts cutscenes more than anything else, and those were hardly representative of certain characters either - the "Champion's" image is the male one even if it is actually FemHawke, for one, and Bella was not quite as dark in that book's illustration either.

This preview is kind of awful. Everything is too small to read... :(

Agreed, quality is a tad bit too low to be readable.

I already had this on preorder. Can I preorder harder somehow? This book looks really cool. Not only is there plenty of great lore in here, there's lots of nice art and the whole thing seems packed within a really good layout. My favourite part of it all is the timeline at the bottom of the pages. That'll give a nice sense of moving forward in time when turning the pages.

We already know the writers are top-notch here. Let's give a round of applause for whoever designed the layout and came up with the timeline idea! =D

...I'm pretty sure "undecided" is not the preferred nomenclature. Don't think you meant any harm by it, but the more you know.

I find it funny that people are okay with the stylization on that drawing to the point of no facial features and breast reduction surgery, but the skin tone is where they draw the line.

Anyway that shot and the rest of the book looks gorgeous so far. I may have to get it despite usually being completely disinterested in such things.

All its saying is that DA3 will be released in 2013, though even that can change, they are just repeating what Bioware told all of us already.

That the event that took place did in fact take place?  Well.. yeah.  Duh?

He was referencing the insistence by some Bioware employees that their "story canon" (that they use for novels) isn't "Thedas canon", and that whatever choices are made by us in the games are actual canon.

He's saying that, if they come out with this lorebook, and it directly references choices that are made in the games by saying "X event was the outcome", then that effectively sets down true canon for Thedas, thereby de-canonizing some game choices.

Frankly, I'll be happy if they do that. The whole canon/non-canon arguments were getting stupidly obnoxious just because Bioware refused to say "This is the canon for Ferelden, even though you can make choices that differ from that." Really, they should have said that from the very beginning. But, whatever.

Will only be getting this one if it serves some reading for the "hard core" fans, like myself who already basically know everything about DA (from games, books, etc I mean).

And IIRC, David Gaider said there will be another cover for the book.

Ugh, I hope that isn't the cover. I love Morrigan and all, but when I think of the world of Thedas, the Witch Of The Wilds isn't the first thing that comes to mind. And it really shouldn't be.

I believe Gaider came out and said that there's a lot of new info in the book, but I could be wrong.

Uhm... looks really interesting, but I really hope that Morrigan doesn't end up on the cover.

I'd love to see something akin to the cover of DA2 Collector's Prima Guide: a symbol instead of an artwork picture. Or something like the Firefly - A Celebration hardcover book that I recently bought, with just the name of the game on it.

Heh, well either way, the artwork and the compilation in the book looks stunning. And if there is new info, more reason to buy it.
