I feel that Bioware plays the victim a bit too easily in all of this. You reap what you sow. Unfair behavior lead to unfair behavior in return, and outright lying to your customers I certainly consider unfair. "Shaping the city around you", "choices and consequences", and when the game is out they act very, very surprised that the game is not received as well as they thought it would be.

Agreed.  You treat your fanbase cynically and expect their internet psyche to react well?  Not going to happen.

You can't handle change.

Not that this is the fault of every dev who posts here, rather than directives coming from above them over which they had no control.  It also doesn't excuse bad behavior.  I don't read the ME forums, but overall I'd say the venom at BSN is on a lower level than you'll find in any other game forum where Bioware's name comes up.  The company's name is mud and that's not only the fault of fans.

That's a point worth mentioning. Its not like the BSN trashes Bioware in a vacuum. If you go to RPGCodex, or Bethesda's forums, or Obsidains, or Blizzard... you'd find dropping the Bioware name in there these days will result in comments, insults and jokes that would make the BSN look TAME.

Not that that is any excuse. But instead of the devs seeing the BSN as a cesspoll made of their fans who they secretly (or maybe not so secretly anymore) can't stand, maybe they should see it as the jumping off point for how every other internet community feels about Bioware. Because while many people still love Bioware and has nothing but respect for their games, the natural response of the internet these days is to have Bioware as a punchline. Ignoring the BSN will not solve that. Helping improve things on the BSN through new techniques or technology? It may fix things, it may not. But acting like the problem isn't a problem isn't going to do anything but make things worse as time goes on.

It takes two to tango so i think both Bioware and the fans are equally to blame. Myself included.

Off topic but the thread about Gaider avoiding BSn forums over at the Codex is hilarious.

What make things worse is the existence of what they called "biod.r.o.n.e" (funny, that word got censored here)

these forumers, always ridiculed the complaints, most of the times even with illogical responses

such as, someone complaint about bugs in the game, there is a forumer saying, "it is not a bug, it is feature, enjoy it!"

That also make the fans angry...these loyalist come into Bioware defense, some say they are paid agents, truth or not i don't know. But that also contribute the "toxin' in the forum.

Someone complaint, why ridicule them?

So don't blame it on some fans but also on the LOYALISTS...or d.r.o.n.e.s......

Yes but that is just the same point. Bioware has a fanbase of X, the people who post here are. 1/100(X) and the sad people at Codex are so immaterial as to not matter. It isn't like the posters here are the vanguard for some silent majority.
