I don't disagree with him, and it's sad to see--really, has been sad to see BSN descend into insanity basically in this year alone. i mean, the ME3 romance forums completely closed because people--well, it's just unbelievable.

Also, this really isn't DA related. this would be off-topic material.

So what were people doing on the romance forums?

Was it homophobia or something>

BioWare is always really good at their ability ro be colorblind and sexuality blind - i imagine that is provocative to conservative people.

It was mainly hetrophobia. Seriously I saw it.

Lol, you can't be phobic of hetrosexuals, they gave birth to you! But I won't derail the thread.

I imagine it was about sexuality though, hot topic - shouldn't be, but people make it one.

It was a war over miranda's ass, and whether you were a true miranda fan if you liked her ass, or ignored it entirely to focus soley on her personality as a character.

Than it spilled into other forums and the whole thing was locked and purged.

I was over there alot when ME3 came out. Discussin that Indoctrination theory (it still makes sense!!!), and the forum was pretty nice then.

Yeah, well, creating threads about IT on the forums has been outlawed. IT discussion is now allowed only in groups.

Groups seems to be where they direct discussions to go and die.

yeah weskeer i know how you feel, i only joined here a coupla months ago an truth be told it is a tiresome place sometimes, if i wasnt the person i am in all honesty id a probably binned all my bioware games, deleted my account an moved on with a laugh an a not worth it, but the games are worth it an so is some of the ppl just a pity alot aint

That's what keeps me here too. Some of the games BioWare has come out with are so good that all the negative stuff on the forums isn't enough to keep me away for long. I just want to discuss their games with other people who have also played them.

TO be fair, your sig (as of this post) isnt exactly helping. Snarkyness I think also adds to the pile - even if you don't mean it in that way. Its easy to let these things pile up :)

I really want to run with this, but I won't.

But it had nothing to do with sexuality.

I remember reading alot about her ass on the DA2 forum as well. It was arguably the most discussed "feature" in the entire ME series. So kudos to the art department for that one.

And just like that, the thread was derailed.

I haven`t been to the ME boards for about a year. Is it really worse there than on this board and the DA2 one?

Yes. Lots of unconstructive tat on there, lol, people are funny - I hope BioWare sift through the garbage and find some decent posts. (I hope mine count as that! ): - but if not, I don't mean any harm :))

Partly because I think they don't have the interaction the DA devs give the DA threads. If ME3 team spoke on the ME forum it;d improve, by my estimations.

But I understand why they don't feel like going on BSN and trying to talk to fans.

Double edged sword really.

--

I guess its part of the job with this kind of online game community development thing.

Its free market research, so thats good.
But the frogurt BSN is also poison, and thats bad. :P

It would not, imo. The few times devs HAVE posted there they'vbe been swarmed with haters, at least in my experience.

Well first off, for it to be so bad, that means it once was good. Why I remember a time when I posted here before the Hamburger issue, it was a fun place....well somewhat with a handful of VG romance adicts, like so many drug dealers. Actully I joined this place to slap down some stupidity.

But you want to know whats wrong with this place?

It has Earth as it has form, and most of us are grounded, either in sanity or in the trenches of our dealings.

It has Fire given the passion and hate we see here on a daily bases.

It has Wind as alot of posters here are full of hot air.

It has Water, as someone is always crying, be it sadness, or laughter.

But you want to know what it doesn't have?

Heart.

Theres just no hindu kids or love here. And without Heart, how do we summon Captain Planet to clean away Toxicman? You see my fellow forumites, this is all your fault. You ran off the only Hindu kid in the club, and now you know whats going to happen.

Uranium-man is going to show up, and then this place will really glow, I mean grow.

I miss the days of frequent dev posts(or maybe I'm just mis-remembering)! But I don't blame him for stepping back a bit. It feels like this place went downhill very quickly once DA2 was announced...

There's a difference between developers popping in every once in awhile and continued and sustained interaction. But it definitely wouldn't "help". There's nothing short of an apology or a promise of change that would placate.

To be honest, I remember them talking about this kind of thing even before ME3 came out. They said that they don't typically come here because of the atmosphere. Before ME3. So now...I can't imagine they see any more reason to come.

Those wouldn't do it either--but seeing as how they have no need to do either, I see no change for the haters in the future.

I remember Felicia Day having a rant about the bsn forums last year. Related to the old republic board, I belive. Never been to that board, but according to her it was pretty bad.

I'd wager it was more about EA/BW finally realizing the amount of damage the romance creeps were doing to their brand's reputation. The same with the recent crackdown on the IT.

You know, I was thinking about that some weeks ago. Looking at the forum and all the romance threads. It struck me: Is this an rpg or a dating sim?

Of course it would do it... they're not complaining for no reason. But if they get they want new "haters" will show up. Just seeing people in forums as a blob of "haters" rather than individual posters is a reason some people fail to cope with them.
