I was thinking about this too. I don't think it'll happen, but what I'd really like to see is a ME3 Director's Cut. It could include:

1. Real ME1 and 2 style side missions that would replace most of the "scan and grab" quests, so that you actually have to land and do something to pick up war assets.

2. Character DLC for the ME2 squadmates that includes (but is not limited to) extra romance content.

3. Virmire Survivor DLC that expands upon what Ash/Kaidan did between ME1 and ME3, and repairs/returns bugged and cut dialouge for Ash. Would also include extra romance content.

4. And expanded/improved upon Priority: Earth.

Not meant to be limited to only the items on this list, by the way.

Is Dragonborn DLC or does it count as an expansion?

It comes with a new "hub" area separated from the mainland, a new house, new weapons/armor, and interconnectivity to Skyrim through sub-quests---and you can go to and from Solstheim whenever you please.  It's only a minor step down from Shivering Isles.

It's an expansion, though I suppose you could consider Dawnguard a mini-expansion instead of DLC by those parameters.

It'd seem there's a middle ground, then. Perhaps this DLC will be just that, because I really don't see how ME3 can expand anywhere, given the centralized nature of the plot and the vast differences between the endings.

In a way, some of Mass Effect 2's DLCs could have been seen as episodes, since they were connected to the story, but I'm not sure how one could (or if they should, depending on your taste) do it with ME3.

I felt like I never really accomplished anything of importance with the Leviathan DLC and I didn't even bother with Omega, due to the reviews I read of it.

I'd love an expansion, especially if it added that thing they're sick of telling us we're not getting. Not getting my hopes up though.

After Omega (which i didn't buy and never will) I won't buy any DLC short of ending changing of ME2 teamates having a big roll.

Also BioWare seems to think they gonna start charging by how many gigs the DLC is so you can expect then to leave in all thier crap code and sell a 8 gig dlc for $25.

Extended Cut - 2 gigabytes - $0.00
Omega - 2 gigabytes - $15.00

Great reasoning right there.

An Actual Expansion?

I know most developers go the "DLC route" nowadays because its cheaper, quicker, and they can usually make more of a profit.

But I think it would be awesome if they gave us a full, indepth, expansion.

Opinions?

I had thought that this is possible but who knows.

An expansion is what this game needs.

I dont dare to think, what Omega "might" be like, if there wasnt this silly limit.

In Leviathan we might actually have a proper underwaterlevel, where we have to explore the descend towards Leviathans hiding.

Devs' hinted more then once that their actuall biggest challenge is to be creative in terms what they can squezze into a DLC, while they dont lack new ideas regarding gameplay/ RPG mechanics.

Also, a boxed Expansion, would also recieve higher reviews. ... ;) Since higher ratings, for boxed products is obviously the fashion now, (according to rumors.)

The 2 GB limit is nothing but an excuse on a developer's part, because as has been said they can do an expansion. If they refuse to do it, then they are just being lazy. Personally, I think that this is what Mass Effect 3 needs and to not do it would be dumb. ME3 also needs an IT expansion.

Another good idea for the good idea bin, or as BW calls it, the garbage bin.

They're too much in awe of their existing art.

Are you kidding me? That is moronic. That limit is Microsoft's. It has utterly nothing to do with developers. Why don't you explain to me how a developer who isn't 'lazy' is supposed to release data over 2 gigs?

Would be great. I loved Awakening.

Though I have no issue with the smaller DLCs. Most of the Mass Effect ones have been great.

It would sure make up for that dog of an ending they handed us for the OE. I for one would love a real expansion for ME3.

Alternate ending branches, for one. Ever wanted to go back to Ilos? Now's your chance! Go get that mini-Relay! This also allows for non-Glowboy alternate endings.

Feros and the return of the Thorian (there are several ways to do this, from simple 'it wasn't dead', to a Cerberus clone (see Marauder Shields #33 for one exploration of the concept), to having Shiala turn into an asari avatar of the thing). Or, Feros as related to the Protheans. Plenty of material there.

The Reapers were fairly background for most of ME3. Instead of running through some burning rubble, I'd rather have us fight through a Reaper concentration camp and/or processing plant. We've heard so many NPCs talk about the horrors the Reapers commit, how about letting us SEE them! Forget Cerberus! I want piles of bodies carelessly tossed in hallways, I want indoctrinated Humans, Turians, Volus, Asari working alongside Reaper troops, perhaps walk in on those individuals helping to create said monstrosities. I want to walk into a massive processing plant, like the Collector Base room where we found the Normandy crew, only x100. And I want to blow the fricking place up.

Harbinger was missing for nearly the entirety of ME3. Add him back in. Plenty of material. Also the potential for an amazing inside-and-outside boss battle, where we alternate between boarding him and fighting through the corridors, to cutscenes of a Harbinger space battle outside, with the Normandy leading the charge.

The Rachni alone have enough (currently) wasted potential to be the focus of an expansion.

If its not an expansion, they should at least make it possible to toss Allers plus Liara out of the airlock. Although i would like to shoot both of them first.

While nice suggestions. The ME3 team is not alter the endings, as they will be admiting the wrong about the ending.

Expansion instead of DLC?

Ah, the golden age of expansions. I remember it well; I remember it fondly.

The industry, however, has dismissed that claim.

The same way Skryim did with its expansion... it's not as if its rocket science we're talking about here.  You misunderstand... I know that the limit is Microsoft's.  All I'm saying is that an expansion is a nice way to circumvent the 2 GB limit and the limit should not serve as an excuse as to why certain content cannot be made.
