a good old fashioned expansion? oh....yes. truthfully, i would love that. so much.

no demands. no restrictions abt when, where, who, or what canon this and that. just something top shelf. where even the sky is not the limit and everything is possible.

you guys have been on a leash for a long time. i'd like to see what you could do if you could just run with it.

unlikely? perhaps. and yes, it sounds like me4 is truly started in production. it's just....wow. imagine.

anything you want BW.

And are usually worth the extra few bucks because of the content.

I thought ME3 was great, but I'd personally love an Enhanced Edition, a la The Witcher. Take the time to fix all the issues. Bugs, glitches, graphical inconsistencies and display the correct weapons in cutscenes. More content would be a bonus, and you could even include Leviathan and The Extended Cut, if you're feeling generous.

I would pay good money for that, although in an ideal world, it would be free.

I'd also pay good money for a full expansion pack. Mass Effect 3: Opposing Force? Mass Effect 3: United Offensive? Mass Effect 3: Chaos Rising? Do want.

Bioware care about the bottom line. Expansions dont bring in as much money as DLC does. They just arnt ever going to make an expansion pack again unfortunately. They would rather do less work and get more money than do lots of work for an expansion pack and get less money (even though expansion packs are what we want)

But once again I must reiterate. Why would they make an expansion pack for $50 when they can take the same content of that expansion pack, cut it up into 10 dlcs and then sell them for $10-15 dollars each?

This is the customers fault. Bioware (and other companies) know that people will pay high amounts of cash for very little content. In an ideal world, companies like Bioware would make expansion packs despite them being unprofitable compared to DLCs, because thats what the customer wants.

Won't happen, expansions aren't part of the common video gaming business models out there anymore. The last expansion I bought was Awakening, for DAO, and even that was a digital download. I don't actually remember the last "true" (retail) expansion I bought. It's all about DLCs now. And the term itself just means downloadable content, it doesn't *have to* be small content, it COULD be large content, it's up to the devs out there to rejuvenate the image and perception most gamers have of what "DLC" actually means. But unfortunately usually happens to be useless over-priced crap like extra armor skins or a few weapons you don't care about since you completed said games anyway weeks if not months prior.

Eventually some devs around, be it BioWare or others, will start "getting it" in their head that "bigger than usual" DLCs can work, too, such as Lair of the Shadow Broker being the obvious example (also, Secret Armory of General Knoxx for the original Borderlands was very nice), or the Fallout 3 DLCs too (which once combined pretty much consists of a large expansion of the original content). When the day comes that most devs understand that and if they happen to be financially capable to produce similar DLCs, then we should see more such "large" DLCs out there and at some point we might start to call such content actual expansion packs that just happen to be digitally-distributed.

I believe they had Awakening in Physical form, no?

Yes awakening was originally released on disc. (Im poking the box with my fingers right now)

If awakening was released as a dlc today, chances are it would be chopped up into many different adventures.  Each one for 10 bucks.. just sayin.

If the expansion is given online, it still technically is a DLC :)

Shivering Isles is given online, and it's a full-blown expansion.

It's still downloadable content though, DLC.

I understand expansions are not used as much as they used to, but if there was ever a game that quite frankly NEEDS an expansion, it's Mass Effect 3.

Expansion would be amazing. Post game even better. Plus if they got all the va's back. It would be brilliant. But as others have said, too expensive with too little reward for bioware sadly.

BioWare is currently working on:

Dragon Age 3 + new Mass Effect game + completely new IP + remaining SP & MP ME3 DLCs.

They seem to be spread way too thin. I suppose they could hire new additional manpower and found completely new division/studio or do some crazy resource redistribution and multitasking, but I seriously doubt we're gonna see an Expansion pack :(

EDIT: Against all odds petition to EA to encourage an expansion?  Would sign.

I'd sign it as well

Heh, I wonder what would happen if they had a Kickstarter for something like that. Goal in one day probably.

It's not a thing to do, I know. Just rambling.

Even though expansion packs are no longer in style anymore with developers and game publishers I have hope that one day that will change.

at this point I'd settle for any news of the next DLC, it's been a spell since Omega released and we know it is coming. Hopefully the wait means good things.
