IMO I just veiw the races as all Humans but just differnt genes as in they all have the same number of chromosomes just they look different then each other because thats how they evolved. I guess,
Or just how the Maker have created them

The Chantry is not the Maker, the Chantry is just the Maker's best fans
And while most of the Chantry seems to be made of humans, they are also disciples from other races such as the dwarf who wishes to open a new Maker's fanclub in Orzammar.
Or maybe the Chantry did invent the Maker to as a form of religious propaganda and control... What's the truth?!

The real question is where all the half-*dwarves* are, since apparently that IS possible in this universe...

The lore says nothing about the similarity of all the races.
In AD&D we had at least some rough leads, such as "humans, elves, dwarves, halflings... even orcs and goblins are humanoid".
Now I can imagine, that the dwarves who live underground in their castes stay among themselves. But what's about those who went onto the surface?
Did they stop to drink and to be behind anything female which is not quickly enough to climb the next tree?
And as I asked earlier: How do the elves regard the dwarves in DA:0?
In AD&D their were some tensions because of long past problems, IIRC.

The Elves genes are adapatvie. They use to live for eons and would not succumb to death. When the humans came they soon started to become "mortal" . It's on the wiki for reading.
